On Our Way

"Kagome?"

"Huh?"

"O come on Kags, were trying to sort out summer break here, we can't do that with you day dreaming the whole time!"

"Oh sorry guys. I'll try and stay awake. I promise" Kagome adjusted her seating and sat to face her 3 annoyed friends.

"You should really quit doing the night shift. You look awful." Kagome's friend Sango always had a way with words. "Thanks. I promise, I'll be bright and perky on this trip"

"Good" Kikyou butted in. "Its summer break and were not having you ruining it."

"Well..." Ayame quickly added changing the subject before Kikyou got her usual strop on "We basically decided to go down to the beach house tomorrow morning and spend the rest of the week relaxing on the beach, working up a tan."

"And playin Volleyball!" Sango insisted.

"Who knows we might meet a few cute guys there as well" Kikyou squeaked. "Kami, is that all you think about?" Kagome giggled, nudging her friend. "No... Sometimes I think about what to do with the boys!" she said nudging Kagome back.

"So everyone cool with the plan?" Sango asked gathering her stuff from beside her. "Yurp" the girls spoke in unison. "Good. Now I'm off home to pack. Anyone need a lift?"

Before long, the 3 girls were packed in the car, waving their goodbyes. Kagome smiled as she watched her friends drive off into the distance.

"Kagome Darling, Time to wake up." Mrs Higurashi gently shook her daughter with no response. "5 minutes mammy please" Kagome finally muttered. "You got to pick the girls up in an hour, if you want to shower and ready yourself, you best get up now!" her mother argued leaving the room.

Kagome reluctantly pushed back the covers, allowing herself to slip out. She had intentionally gone to bed hours earlier than she normally would as to get the rest she missed out on, but apparently it hadn't worked. Her Alarm clock flashed 8:10. "O Kami" she moaned lifting her heavy body off the bed walking towards the bathroom.

She was 10 minutes late by the time Kagome finished saying goodbye to her family, "do you have to go?" her mother pleaded with her to stay for nearly 20 minutes before letting her daughter go. Kagome smiled, and she was on her way. Her first all girl independence trip had finally begun. Kagome and Sango had been planning this all year and now at last it beginning.

It didn't take long to pick up the girls; all 3 were kipping over Kikyou for the night. They all came out ready dressed in their matching bikinis. The four had bought a set of bikinis different colours; it was handy that they were all similar sizes. They exchanged smiles are they packed up the jeep ready for the trip.

"Wow Kags! You look really tired? Did you get any sleep last night?" Sango muttered whilst hugging her friend.

"Yer, Plenty! Still haven't got used to the night shift thing yet though."

"Arw, poor darling. Want me to drive?" she said, still wrapping her arms tightly around Kagome.

"Are you saying this 'cos you want to drive, or because you care?" she joked.

"Depends...which one will make me drive?" she said smiling.

Kagome rolled her eyes and tossed her the keys, settling in the back next to Kikyou.

For most of the trip, all 4 sat singing to the radio, Ayame's amazing voice standing out from the other 3's karaoke tones.

"Wow. Ayame! You're really beginning to sound good!" Sango yelled over the blaring radio.

"Arw thanks. Still think I'm sounding flat."

"Nu-uh! You sound Amazing" Kagome praised. Giving her a hug from behind.

The girls fun was interrupted as a van with 4 guys piled into it, drove past.

3 of the guys with their heads out the window giving approving whistles as they drove past.

The girls started with fits of giggles. They truly were on a trip to remember!
