Hello, does anyone have any tips for body proportioning and body positioning when it comes to drawing anime. I have looked at several images online but it does not tell me the exact measurements for certain body parts. Im struggle with drawing legs and arms correctly.

How to guides don't work.

I'm an artist.

I've tried them all from the grid-technique to the use of rulers to measure the thickness of lines and what not.

It didn't work for me.

The only way I've learned to have any kind of proportion control in your final drawing, even vaguely, is to break the image down into its base parts. You need to draw stick figures, and overlay them, like Roo's shown you, in her linked images, with ovals or shapes representative of an arm, leg, or a hand.

The fleshing out of the image over these shapes will give you basic proportion control in the size of the shoulder, arms, and so forth in the final image.

It's not perfect, but it's the only form I know of that really works.

It does take some time to teach yourself to draw this way however.

It was definitely a learning curve for me.

Follow Roo's advice.

It's spot-on.
