Could anyone give me some input as to which is correct?
I know he is here.
(or) I know THAT he is here.
When I strain my brain, the conclusion I come up with is THAT (there it is again)the "THAT" in question is unnecessary. But if I go by instinct, I want it to be there. So, what about "THAT"?

As far as I know, both are right in this particular example, so it really boils down to a matter of preference.

Like Chie says, it's more about preference. I've always been taught that using 'that' is unnecessary in most cases. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from using it.
