In regards to Danyealle-sama's thoughts- yes, absolutely we, as the authors, can try our best to keep track of those who are reading our work by checking profiles of reviewers, but that's kind of where our ability to help out ends. Not everyone that reads stories leaves a review- this is something we all know >_<- and even those that do, all we have to go on if we check them out is what they say on their profile, and there's no way for us to know if that person is lying or not about their age, if they even state it, it's no longer as simple as trying to figure out someone's age from how they act or the way they conduct themselves.

Exactly. That's why we encourage you to come to us if you have any suspicions, then leave the investigative work to the Admins. We thoroughly investigate any suspected minors, but it is difficult to do that level of investigation on every site member, y'know? If there's a reviewer that sets off alarm bells, let me know. Other than that, I agree, it's nigh unto impossible for you guys to do much other than check profiles.

Even so, I DO appreciate each and every one of you for WANTING to help. That, alone, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!!

I admit to letting my kids watch some rated r stuff, but I have limits on what is allowed, no nudity what so ever, no innuendo that they can understand, pretty much nothing that depicts sex, cept the almost 18 yr old, I realize that with her fiance being 21, she is going to go see what he wants and since she is almost 18. I am lucky though in the fact that she is a bit of a prude and hates nudity lol. My kids watch alot of horror movies, well the middle and oldest , the youngest wont watch something that scares him, he is smart enough to change the channel, or leave the room if others are watching it.

My children and I talked about what they saw. We watched everything together. They had to convince me that it wouldn't give them nightmares or ideas, lol. I never restricted their reading material, but I did place one condition on it: They had to come to me with any - ANY - questions they might have had. By giving them that freedom, and joining their TV & video viewing, it must have satisfied them. Neither one of my kids turned to the internet for their amusement! And neither of them showed much interest in "mature" materials... violence, yes. Porn, no.

They used the internet for research and email, but that's mostly all I can remember them doing online before they were of age. And, yes, I was right there - because we only HAD one computer... and that baby was MINE!!!!!!!!!

I commend you, kori, for being the kind of mom that gives the kids a little rope, but recognizes that she has to monitor that stuff. Mom-hood is such a HUGE responsibility, isn't it?

LULZ!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, not even close... but thanks? My kids' friends always thought I was not a real "mom" cuz I was too 'involved.' Boggled my mind, but there you have it.

Sesshoumaru-sama truly is one of the kami, if you ask me!

The kids aren't allowed to watch most things unless I have seen it first or if it something I refuse to watch I ask friends who might have seen it. It is hard to keep on them all the time with some stuff but yeah the internet I have keystroke programs, and well a best friend who is a hacker and she hacks the kids laptops to check for me all the time. My kids use the internet for school all day because they are homeschooled, the parent programs are a must have for my peace of mind.
My son has xbox live and he isn't allowed on it unless I, my hubby or my future son in law is on it with him. He was playing halo reach a few days ago and someone he shot got mad at him and threatened to come beat him up, I was like your reported and you threatened a 10 yr old, how mature its a game not real life. So far xbox has been really good about taking care of issues.

I dont trust hubby's maturity at times with the kids, because when my oldest was pretty young like 5, I came home from work and he was watching Heavy Metal with her right there in the room, I flipped out on him, he got all snotty, so I called his mother and told her what he did, sounds childish, but remember no one makes you feel small and silly better than your mother no matter how old you are lol. After that I put a parental block on the tv and only I knew the password, he couldnt watch anything good until I got home.

As for not being a cool mom, like I used to tell people that told me I was treating my kids like dogs by using leashes, Well at least I know where my kid is, and they wont end up missing. I still don't let my kids wander stores alone, like walmart and stuff. I know they think I am being silly but I just dont want to take the chance. My son has a service dog, and I know he is pretty safe but I still don't take the chance. lol better we be uncool and our kids safe, than a cool parent.

At a party this weekend we went to I told my 17 yr old after she was being smart with me, I am your mother not your friend do not speak to me like that ever again, and until you learn to speak right your on restriction, no ifs ands or buts little girl. To many parents want to be their kids friends and then wonder why their children don't respect their rules.

Hehehe. Reminds me of the "educational video" my parents made me watch. It was a cartoon on Sex Ed, and needless to say I am surprised THAT didn't give me nightmares. My parentals rented it from blockbusters. Yay blockbusters!

Probably could say the same about my dad. He always told stories about his "days in high school." Most of them were absolutely hilarious, some of which I even have him repeat to my friends. But the important part of the stories is the fact that he was always open with me and my brother on what he did and while it may be funny, he does also express the seriousness behind his actions. He was that way in a lot of things with us. He never forced religion on us, but taught us what he believed and allowed us to study and explore to find where our faith leads, he was always discussing politics with out to keep our minds broad, and he never hid things from us. If there was a family issue, he never tried to hide it, but sat down and openly discussed it with us. He would tell us not to worry over it, but wanted us to be aware of what was going on, because he remembers being in our spot and his parents never telling him anything and it always used to make him angry.

Because of all of this, not only has it created a bond in our later years, but my brother and I never got into drugs, we never smoked (though I did try once, and it is something I regret greatly), and we turned out...fairly decent as individuals. Basically what I am trying to say is, being involved is not bad. From experience on the kids end, it is something that I have treasured in my life, and as long as you don't "smother" your kids(and the impression I get is your doing a great job), then once they reach their late teens early twenties, they will be grateful for it forever.

As for not being a cool mom, like I used to tell people that told me I was treating my kids like dogs by using leashes, Well at least I know where my kid is, and they wont end up missing. My mom always tells me she was blessed to have a kid who never talked back. It wasn't until her anuerysm when she became uber protective that I started lashing back. But by then I was nearly out of high school so I was almost a legal adult anyways.

I consider my parents to be cool parents. But at the same time, I do know the fine boundary between "buds" and "parents." To this day, at 23, I still fear my dad's wrath if I am in the wrong. I wasn't allowed to go anywhere alone for a long time. And when I was "alone" I had at least one or two friends with me.

My dad was always the "I could care less if you hate me. But you WILL do what I say when I say." He may have been open with us, but he does have a strict side. But it was that balance that brought about my upbringing and made it...I suppose successful.
