Kagome writing in her notebook

I think I'm going to have her writing in her notebook throughout the entire story.

I'm sorry if that confuses some peopoe. Just try to get used to it if you can.

If it's not working out just let me know and I'll fix it somehow, depending on how many of you don't like it. ^_^

Now on with the story!

Chapter 1: Don't Panic!

When trapped in the present with a powerful being from the Feudal Japan Era one should not panic, for any signs of doubt or fear could trigger a very bad reaction from said demon lord.

Kagome looked up from her notebook to find that her all but small problem still hadn't vanished. When would this horribly realistic nightmare come to an end? How could he be here right now, in her very own bedroom? Better question, how was she not dead? Kagome trembled, remembering when she first discovered him there in the wellhouse. She was lucky to have found him before someone else did. She couldn't imagine the merciless fate that poor, unsuspecting person might have encounter. She assumed she wasn't dead yet because, well, she was familiar to this particular demon, and he was now stuck in a strange world where he was the only one of his kind. If he went on a human killing rampage he'd be all alone in the world and what fun would that be? Kagome nearly giggled picturing Sesshomaru, the overly serious demon youkai standing amongst a pile of dead human carcass and saying to himself in a whiny voice that simply did not belong to him, "What now?"

She brought the pen to her lips, realizing that the voice sounded more like it belonged to Inuyasha.

'Is this really something to joke about?' She wondered to herself. Shrugging, she added another tip for future reference.

Also avoid eye contact or any sudden movements.

She had to be careful not to offend his mighty self or she may just wind up dead. For now she was in luck. She could only imagine how confused and uncomfortable he must be feeling at this point. Especially standing there in all his elegance as she wrote in a notebook. He just so happened to be in a pickle and she was showing no effort to help him. That wasn't the smartest or noblest move on her part, now was it?

"Girl." he finally broke the silence, "Return me at once to the well."

"There's no point." Kagome tried to explain this a number of times. For an almighty demon lord he was really quite clueless, "I don't have the jewel and we're both stuck here, forever."

"Return me at once." He obviously didn't get it.

Kagome sighed. She stood up, allowing the notebook to slide from her lap to the ground with a tiny thud. Placing her hands on her hips she stared him down. "Look, I want to get back just as badly as you do. I've been in this situation before and I found a way back so we'll just have to wait until someone returns to the well with a fragment of the jewel, understand?"

"Answer me," Sesshomaru's took this time to look around Kagome's way-too-pink-for-any-teenage-girl bedroom, which was very modernized compared to say, the woods, where Kagome was certain Sesshomaru was used to sleeping, "Where is this place?"

Kagome sighed. "Really, how many times must I explain this?"

Her patiences was running thin. She really, truly felt bad because she could only imagine Sesshomaru was feeling much worse than she was, but it wasn't as if she were jumping for joy after being locked out of the world in which she practically lived. She realized it could take years for Inuyasha and the others to retrieve the jewel from Naraku without her help in sensing it's power. This left her, along with Sesshomaru, the ruthless, human hating demon, trapped in a world where mortals reigned supreme. This really couldn't end very well, but Kagome would do everything in her power to keep her home and family safe. Even if she had to fight Sesshomaru all on her own. How would she go about doing something like that? Well, she'd just wing it.

She assumed Sesshomaru saw her pass through the well, his curiosity got the better of him and somehow the well allowed him to pass through as well. It didn't make much sense to her. Up until now only she and Inuyasha had the power to do so. Perhaps Sesshomaru was mistaken for Inuyasha, being his brother and all. That didn't make much sense either. Although, really, nothing made sense anymore. Not after she had been transported to a different world via well. After something like that happens one tends to lose their grip on reality, ya know?

Kagome shook her head, which seemed to baffle the demon who had been watching her intently as her mind wandered further.

"Are you not aware of what I'm capable of, priestess?" Sesshomaru's tone was threatening but it didn't phase Kagome for some reason. Perhaps because she knew, and he knew, that he'd never get back without her help. In fact, he'd never survive here period, happily that is, without her help. There's no way he would travel the world just to kill every human he came across. He'd just have to learn to coexist until they found a way to pass onto the other side again.

"I'm aware." Kagome hissed, losing her patience, "Right now is not a time to be threatening the only person who can help you, lord bitchy pants!" She saw his eyes darken at the insult, "Just do me a favor and stop complaining for a second. I'm trying to think! You wanna go back to the well, fine! I'll take you there, but it'll only prove me right and you wrong! I know how the well works by now. It might have let you in which is... really confusing to me, but either way it won't let you back through without the power of the shikon no tama! Do you understand now?"

"You try my patience!" Sesshomaru all but hissed.

"You try mine!" Kagome blurted out. She grabbed her spring jacket and marched to the door, "Let's go, I'll take you to the stupid well."

'Wow,' Kagome thought to herself as she stormed down the stairs, through the kitchen and living room and then out the front door, 'I'm surprised I'm still alive after an outburst like that! I suppose he is smart enough to know he needs me though. That's a good thing. It ensures my safety...'

"I'll ask you one more time," Sesshomaru had been at Kagome's heel the entire way. Lucky for her he sounded a bit less... offended, "What world is this?"

"It's my world. This is where I was born, and where I live." Kagome explained cooly, her temper having vanished, "Demons don't exist here. At least I don't think they do. I've never encountered one here before, except this one demon that passed through the well but that's another story. Anyways, we're in the present. It's 500 years later than the world you live in."

"So you mean to say that well connects the two worlds?"

"Finally, you've got it!" Kagome sarcastically cheered. She glanced back at him to find a very unamused frown in return.

"How does this work, priestess?" came his next question. Kagome shrugged this time.

"I don't know. I like to think it's fate." She timidely answered, placing her hand over her side, where the jewel had been embedded and then torn out by the crazy centepede lady. Kagome recieved no response from the proud demon who followed closely behind, which was a good thing. She found conversation with him to be much less than enjoyable. Finally the stopped in front of the well house. The short walk seemd to take hours under such icy circumstances. Kagome opened the giant door and allowed Sesshomaru to walk ahead of her inside. He examined the well and without much more thought he jumped inside. Kagome heard him land gracefuly. Regardless of how skilfuly he landed on his feet, the point remained that he couldn't get through to the other world, meaning he was stuck here with her until further notice.

Kagome slapped her hand over her forehead. 'Why me?'

"Would your friend like some chocolate chip cookies, dear?" Mrs. Higarashi sweetly asked from behind Kagome's bedroom door, "They're nice and hot out of the oven!"

Kagome glanced at Sesshomaru doubtfuly. He had made himself comfortable in a corner of the room. Kagome had offered him a seat but he declined, being the proud bastard he was, and just sat on the ground like a dog or something. Kagome inwardly laughed at her own comparison.

"Are you hungry?" she asked him, "If so, would you like some cookies?" Sesshomaru didn't even spare her a glance.

"No." came his cold response. He seemed just as unhappy with these circumstances as she was. His attitude had gone from confused and hostile to cold and distant. At least this way he wasn't bothering her with stupid questions. Kagome just shrugged and continued doodling in her notebook.

Once said demon has adapted to this new habitat be sure that food is obtainable to him at all times. Otherwise he'd allow himself to starve before accepting hospitality from the likes of you.

Kagome snickered. 'It really kind of is like owning a dog.' She glanced up at him again. Same statue-like posture as before, propped up against the wall, sitting in the corner and looking more agitated than even she was at this point, 'An overgrown dog that just followed me home. I don't even want him! How fair is that?'

With a pout she tossed her notebook to the side.

"Look here, Sesshomaru!" she spoke up. It did little to rouse his attention. If anything there was a change in his expression. It seemed she was getting on his nerves again, "Can you just look at me for a second? I know you don't want to be here but neither of us really can do anything about it. As long as you're going to be staying here we should make a pact."

Kagome fixed her gaze on him. It took a few seconds. Kagome could tell he was still hesitant about nagotiating with a 'lowly human' by the likes of herself, but finally he turned to face her.

Kagome grinned, "Thanks. That's more like it." No response, not that at this point she was even expecting one, "Alright, here's the bottome line. My family and friends, and every other human who lives in this world with me is to remain safe from your harm as long as I agree to help you return to your world. Is that understood?"

"And if you can't return me to my world, shall I slay each and every ningen I pass, then your friends, then your family and finally you?" His icy tone nearly gave her the chills.

"Wow, Sesshomaru," Kagome frowned, "That was pretty sick and uncalled for. You're really warped, aren't you? Who thinks like that? You can't just demolish and entire world of people because you don't get your own way and don't try threatening me with that garbage. You could go about killing everyone you come across but then what? You wouldn't know how to get back on your own. Just face it, you need me."

He quickly resumed his earlier position of looking out the window and ignoring her.

Sighing, Kagome grabbed the phone on the stand beside her bed and dialed her friend Yuki's number. "Hi, Yuka." Kagome spoke into the phone. She saw Sesshomaru's eyes dart over. He was curious to see what kind of devise she was using, no doubt. Surpressing a grin she continued talking to her friend over the phone, "What are you doing tomorrow?..." she asked.

"I don't really have anything planned." Yuka answered, "Why, did you wanna hang out?"

Kagome bit her lip and tried to think of a good lie that wouldn't completely throw Yuka off. "Well actually a friend of mine is staying with me for awhile. He's from... America! He needs to go shopping for some new clothes and I wanted your help since you're pretty good with shopping."

Sesshomaru could tell this certain 'friend' she was speaking of was more than likely him. Kagome saw his eyes curiously turn towards her once again.

"A friend?" Yuka murmured into the phone, "Oh, wow! Could this be the friend we've all been hearing so much about? The controling, jealous freak you've been seeing?!"

Kagome didn't expect that one. She should have though. "Oh, um. No, this is actually his brother!" At least this time she didn't have to lie, "He's a lot worse mannered than Inuyasha though, trust me, so if I were you I'd bring some form of weapon, just as a precaution."

She noticed Sesshomaru fuming from his spot in the corner of the room. Kagome nearly laughed at how touchy this guy really was. She covered the phone so Yuka couldn't hear her.

"Relax, demon boy, I'm joking." she assured him and then brought the phone back to her ear only to hear Yuka ramble on hysterically.

"A weapon?!" Yuka's voice rattled from the other line, "Kagome, I hope you're kidding! You really expect me to go out in public with the crazy, psychopathic brother of a delinquent?"

"Relax, Yuka." Kagome tried comforting her friend, "He's not as bad as I just made him sound. He's really good looking! You won't regret it, okay? Just meet me at the mall tomorrow in the morning, like around 10:30. I want to get this over with before the kids from school start showing up. Sesshomaru's attire right now... isn't exactly normal amongst our friends. You'll see what I mean."

"You owe me big time, Kagome!" Yuka was still rambling but Kagome was sick of listening and just hung up. Secretly, she hoped Sesshomaru didn't take that whole 'good looking' comment as seriously as he took everything else. She didn't want him thinking she had a thing for him while he was to stay in her house! That could cause some unnecessary tension, not that there wasn't enough of that.

"We have to get you some clothes." Kagome announced. Sesshomaru wasn't showing any sign of acknowledgment now that Kagome's attention was directed away from the phone and back at him, "It's not like you'll be out in public much but as long as you look civilized we shouldn't have too many problems until you can get back to the feudal era where you belong."

Sesshomaru didn't say a word but she figured that meant he would be cooperative for now. She just hoped this whole arrangement would be short lived. Like last time, she was hoping she'd just sense the jewel from the well house and that would solve this whole problem. She knew that things like that rarely happened more than once but with her friends on the look out for the shards, she still had hope.

Kagome left Sesshomaru to himself in her room. She went downstairs into the kitchen where the cookies her mom had baked were cooled down on the stove and ready for the eatin'. Kagome excited grabbed two and had them for herself. They were perfect. Hot and gooey, right out of the oven. She piled a few on a paper plate and decided to bring them up to Sesshomaru. He'd eventually get hungry enough and eat them, even if he had to wait until she was sleeping.

'I really don't understand him at all.' Kagome thought to herself. She pushed through her bedroom door.

"Sesshomaru, in case you get hungry I brought you some---" she stared in shock at the empty space where Sesshomaru had previously been sitting. Then she looked to the open window. 'Put two and two together, Kagome.'

She placed the plate down on her work desk and hurried to the window, hoping she'd see where he was going and be able to stop him before he got too far and caused some real damage out there. He was, undoubtedly, gone without a trace.

Falling back onto her bed Kagome let out a loud, mournful cry. "You frigging idiot! Where do you thing you're going?!"

Wow, is this story fun to write! ^_^

I hope it's just as fun to read for you guys. Please rate and review! It's the least you can do and if you'd like an update anytime soon that's the way to motivate me.

I plan on keeping Sesshomaru in full character in this story which means I'm going to have to take my time with it. Hope you don't mind, but don't worry, you'll get your happy, sappy ending. You know me. I couldn't write a sad ending if I tried. It's just not my style.

Now review this story or don't expect any more chapters!! *Evil, maniacal laugher*
