The Darkness Inside by Yuka-senpai
Darkened Dreams
Chapter: 1
"Goodnight," Kagome said tiredly to her family as she climbed the stairs to her room.
"Goodnight Kagome," her mom said.
Tomorrow was her 18th birthday, so Kagome, after a few sits to Inuyasha, was able to take a break from the Sengoku Jedai.
'The jewel shards could wait,' Kagome thought.
Her odd little group had defeated Naraku about a month ago, so now there were just a few more jewel shards to find.
As Kagome slid into bed, she thought, 'It feels like just yesterday that I fell through the well for the first time.' She looked over at the clock; 11:00, she should be getting some sleep. Kagome fell asleep, having no clue as to how her sleep would change her life.

Kagome opened her eyes. She was standing in a dark room. There was a light mist in the air.
"Where am I?" Kagome said to the room, almost expecting it to answer."
Suddenly, all the darkness turned to red. Blood red...everywhere. A mirror appeared in front of her. In the mirror there was a shadow. Stepping closer, the shadow became clearer. It was her! She was different, though. Instead of the innocent doe brown eyes, Kagome had cat-like blood red ones. She then noticed something else, she had fangs! Long ones peeked out from her top lip.
Her hair, once a blue-black and slightly curly, was hip length, bone strait(even her bangs), and so black that you could get lost in it if you didn't focus hard enough.
"My hair looks kind of like Kikyo's," Kagome said sadly.
"But you are not Kikyo," a deep male voice said.
Kagome flipped around to face the voice. In front of her was a tall man, but he wasn't a man. He had black armor and dressed in a dark kimono. He had long pure black hair in a pony tail and the same red eyes as her.
"Who are you," Kagome said, slightly panicked, "Why do you look like me? Why do I look this way?"
"I am Bakeru. I am a blood demon, a vampire as humans call it, as are you."
"A blood demon, a vampire? But I'm human, not a demon!" Kagome shrieked.
Bakeru answered, "All blood demons are human until the age of 18. Only those few chosen by the heavens can turn."
"But why am I here?" Kagome looked around for emphasis.
"This is the dream world. I am here to train you to control the demon within you. Most blood demons aren't trained when they turn, so they end up destroying many lives."
"What do you mean?" Kagome asked.
"At night, blood demons loose control over their demons, as they do during the day. They go on a rampage, killing a drinking the blood of anyone who gets in their path. That is, unless you know how to control it."
Wait, I want to ask a couple questions. Can blood demons be in sunlight?" Kagome asked.
"Yes, the belief that we cannot stay in sunlight is just a story humans made up to give us weaknesses. Our only real weakness is control."
"Okay, what about my miko powers? What would happen to them? What if I purify myself?"
"Your powers will still be with you, but the demon within you would be dominant. They would be used to cover up your scent and aura, making you appear to be human--other than your looks. You will not be purified," Bakeru answered.
Kagome thought for a moment, taking in all she had learned. She raised her head, "If my training could save lives, then let's get started."
