Seducing Mr. Kouinu by MomoDesu
I Hate Mondays
A/N:
This is very loosely based off of Seducing Mr. Perfect. I started with the general idea from the movie, but I've deviated quite a bit in later chapters. If you haven't seen that movie, I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of the romantic comedy. And even if you aren't in it for the comedy, go for Daniel Henney. This man is ridiculously good looking in this film. If I didn't have a love for a man in a business suit before, I would after this movie. He is just purely scrumptious. Eh, enough rambling about the movie and Mr. Hottie McHottie.
I have never been big on taking a movie and using the idea for a story; this one just wouldn't leave me alone until I gave it the old college try!

Prologue
A secret Kyoto weekend getaway. It had been planned weeks in advance, and Higurashi Kagome was going to make damn sure she enjoyed it. A secret rendezvous with her boyfriend Mikoto Kouga would make the weekend worth calling in sick at work.
Those were her thoughts when she arrived on Friday. It was now Saturday night and she hadn't seen him once. To put the cherry on the sundae his phone was off. Now here she was, standing in front of the restaurant that they were supposed to meet at around seven-ish. Glancing at her watch the hands said, quite obnoxiously in her mind, 8:45PM. She dug her cell out of her purse and scrolled through the contact list for his name. Hitting the 'send' button she put the phone to her face and waited.
'The customer you are trying to reach is currently unavailable. Please try your call again later.'
"Damn it all," she muttered under her breath, closing the phone and roughly shoving it back into her small handbag. "What a fun romantic secret getaway."
Totally angry at the world she practically stomped back to their hotel room that he had yet to set foot in.
-----
"I can't believe you, Kagome! He didn't show up and you just chock it down to him being busy? He could have at least given you a call."
Kagome pounded her fist on the steering wheel. "It was a business trip for him, after all."
"That's no excuse!"
"Sango, if you yell any louder you will ruin the speaker on my phone!"
"I'm sorry, Kagome, but how many times has he stood you up in the past few weeks?"
She knew Sango was right. There was no excuse. But tonight things would be better! They had to be! She had a little birthday celebration planned for him and things would be good again. "I'm driving now, I'll give you a call later tonight, alright?"
"Just as long as it isn't crying when he doesn't answer your calls again."
"Thanks a lot, friend," Kagome said sarcastically, then hanging up the phone. Glancing up to see that the nice silver sedan in front of her was a safe distance away, she turned away from the road for a split second to throw the phone into the center console. When she looked up again said nice silver, and judging from the 'Mercedes' logo on the trunk apparently very expensive, sedan was right in front of her. Knowing there wasn't enough time to avoid a collision Kagome slammed on the brakes, closed her eyes, and braced herself.
A nice hearty metallic crunch later she opened her eyes, and then thanked every deity that would listen that her air bags didn't deploy. Already angry as it is she jumped out of her car at the same time the owner of the nice silver and expensive sedan calmly opened the car door.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" she shrieked.
The owner of the car, who Kagome noted was a very tall handsome male, walked up to her and took off his sun glasses with a chuckle.
"What the hell are you laughing at?" First he had the gall to stop in the middle of a busy street and now he was laughing at her. She was livid.
He offered her a small smile and gestured up to the stop light, which was red and seemed to be staring back at her angrily.
"Do you have a business card?" the man asked, his words as cold as gleam in his amber eyes.
"Business card?" This was one of those situations where Kagome would do one of the things she did best: play stupid.
"A small card with your contact information?" he replied.
"Oh," she giggled.
"How about a phone number?"
"Well, you see, my phone..." The ringing of her phone in her car cut off her sentence. She gave him an apologetic look and dashed back to her vehicle, scrambling for the phone. Finding it she did a mental victory dance and flipped it open. "Kouga?" she said happily.
"Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's your mother."
"Oh." For a moment she listened to her mother prattle on about everything and nothing until she heard the little 'shutter' sound that most phones made when someone snaps a picture. "I've gotta go." She turned on him, giving him a stunned look. "You took my picture!" While she stood looking at him like he had grown another head he snatched her phone. "You took my phone!"
He pressed a few buttons on both phones and then handed her small phone back. "Now I have your picture, and you phone number." He put the glasses back on. "I'll call you with the damage."
"You better delete that picture!" she screamed after him, yelling still long after he had gone. The phone vibrated in her hand, then rang, making her jump slightly. "Shit," she muttered under her breath. "I'm on my way, Eri." Stomping back over to her car she got in and slammed the door. As a last thought she pulled the visor down to do a quick makeup check before work, only to find a nice mauve lipstick smear across her cheek. "Damn it all!" she groaned while she rubbed at the smudge with her fingers. "He better delete that picture."

"Kagome-chan Kagome-chaan!!"
For what seemed like the millionth time that morning, Kagome groaned. She was hoping she would be able to get up to her floor without being seen by anyone. Her day had already gotten off to a bad start, and bubbly secretaries weren't going to make it any better. Putting on her best fake smile she turned away from the elevator doors. "Yuka! How are you?"
Yuka beamed. "Do you remember Takayama Shoji from high school?"
"It's been nearly ten years, that name isn't ringing any bells," Kagome answered honestly.
The other woman's jaw dropped open in surprise. "You don't remember Mr. Perfect?"
Kagome chuckled. To her high school friends, there was a different Mr. Perfect every other day. One day Mr. Perfect would look like he had just stepped out of a Yakuza movie, and he was perfect simply because he was tough and ruggedly handsome. The next it would be a quiet boy who had perfect grades and a shy smile. For her to remember one of their 'perfects' she would have to have a perfect photographic memory, and enough space for every guy that they went to school with, since each one had held the title for at least one day.
For the second time that day Kagome thanked every deity that would listen as the elevator doors opened. "Sorry, Yuka! Already late! See you later!" She smashed herself into the already packed elevator and sighed as the doors closed.
"Are you sure you should be back so soon after surgery, Higurashi?"
She turned around to look at the concerned face of her coworker Hojo. "I will be fine. The doctor gave me the ok!"
"What did you have done?" Yamashita Kikyo looked at her with curious eyes. "Your nose is still a bit off center, and you still have that little belly that you have always had...." Jokingly she reached over and rubbed Kagome's stomach.
Kagome looked over at the taller woman. "Hey!"
"Sometimes I wish I had a bit of a belly," Kikyo replied as she ran her hands over her flat stomach, even though her attempt at smoothing things over didn't work out too well. "Possibly a less than perfect nose. Perfection is hard you know!"
The elevator doors came to her rescue again and she shot out of the lift to get away from the two she liked to consider friends and the rest of her coworkers who were now having a nice laugh at her expense. She was nearly home free at her desk when another voice that she didn't want to hear squealed.
"Kagome! Thank god you are here!" Eri rushed at her, out of breath. "We have a new supervisor, from the Shanghai office. And he wants to see you now!"
"What?" Kagome dropped her small brief case under her desk and charged off to the supervisor's office. Myouga was already waiting for her at the door.
Obviously relieved he let out a huge sigh. "Thank god you are here Higurashi. I didn't think I could hold him off any longer." He grabbed her arm and ushered her into the office.
She looked up once inside at a face she wasn't quite ready to see yet. "You."
Hearing her voice the man looked up. "It is nice to see you again, too."
Kagome tried her best not to scream at him for what happened earlier, even though in the back of her mind she knew it was her fault. Before she got the chance to speak Myouga did it for her.
"Mr. Kouinu, I would like you to meet your new assistant Higurashi Kagome." He bowed very politely and pushed Kagome down with him when she still stood upright.
The two stood and looked expectantly at the tall man in front of them. "Higurashi."
Kagome jumped at his powerful booming voice.
"Yes, Mr. Kouinu."
"It says in your file that you took a sick leave this weekend to have your appendix removed. Tell me, how is your left side?"
She smiled brightly. "It is fine, sir."
He lightly smirked at her. "That's good, considering your appendix is on your right side."
'Now would be the perfect time to find a nice rock to hide under,' she thought as she tried to hide her embarrassment.
"If the two of you will excuse me I have a meeting to attend. I will see the both of you at the party tonight." Stepping around them he left them behind in the office.
"Myouga?" she asked quietly.
"What is it?"
"Why was I picked for this job?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I couldn't tell you, child. He singled you out himself this morning!" The squat old man stepped back and gave her the once over. "You aren't wearing that to the party tonight are you?" With a small nod he walked toward the door that Mr. Kouinu had just walked out of. "See you at the party tonight, Higurashi!"
