Author Note- This is a one shot, as it says in the summary. I did not know the name of Sesshoumaru's mother and I do not like his father's name, so they are unlikely to be the same. I must also say that I do not know the name of Kagome's mother so I called her Aliesha. Please review, you all know you want to!
Disclaimer- Yes, the almighty claim that nothing that belongs to Rumiko Takahashi is mine, if it was it would not be hers.
Kagome was a young girl of the age of five, she had loving parents and was middle class. She had everything a little girl could ever want, except friends. The other children that were around thought that she was strange, with her marking and odd colored hair and eyes. Even at such young ages, they would not accept a demon playmate. There had been one little girl that had talked to Kagome, and the next time that Kagome saw her she had been badly beaten the young girl never spoke to her again.
Kagome's parents knew what was going on, they could not move into a demon society because they did not want their young girl to grow up as all the demon children in society did. She would be taken away at age ten, and be taught how to kill, show no emotions, and most of all hate. This is not the life that they wished for the young one. They knew that they could not hide her forever, they just hoped that they could hide her long enough for her to remember that she need not hate everything in life.
Kagome would often go out for walks, she had to be careful though, seeing as there were more and more reckless demons out more and more often. She knew how to fight, but she did not have any formal training, all she had were her instincts. So her parents made her promise that she would never stay out past sunset. She always kept her promise, she did not want to anger her mother or father.
Today's walk started out as any normal walk would, sunny day, not to hot not to cold. Just a plain beautiful day out. She began to walk to a river that she much liked, while she was walking she became distracted by all the joy that was inside of her. She began to sing and dance, she arrived at the river, and before anything else could happen she fell into the deepest part, the one that she was always scared to go in. She let out a scream right before she fell in.
A small boy looked up at the disturbance in the water. He was way down below holding his breathe. It was a girl, she would not stay afloat for long, because of her clothing. Kicking off from the bottom he swam up, bringing her with him. Thankfully the tide was not to strong that day, or they both would have been swept away. He put her on shore, made sure she was breathing then left to fetch his clothing. When he got back she was still in her clothes, shivering. "Why are you still in your wet clothes?" he asked curious. "I have n-n-nothing to change into." She said teeth chattering a bit. The young boy took off his outer shirt, handed it to her, "There, now take off those wet clothes, father says it can make pups ill." He said. Kagome took off her clothing, still to young to care that he saw. The boy being to young to have any reason to care just pointed to where she should put them to dry.
"Thank you, my name is Kagome what is yours?" Kagome asked a bit shyly. "Sesshoumaru, want to play?" Kagome nodded and the two played until well into the day, when both were exhausted she went back and found her clothing was dry, switching back into them, she gave the shirt back to the boy and called out a good bye before heading home. The two had agreed earlier that they would meet here every together every other day. As they both had studies they needed to attend to.
When Kagome got home, her mother sniffed the air, smelling a boy's scent more strong on her daughter then she liked she asked. "Kagome, who were you playing with?" As expected Kagome went into a big extravagant tale of Sesshoumaru and how he rescued her, then the two spending the rest of the day playing together. After the story and diner, the girl was sent off to bed. Not to far away in a castle little Sesshoumaru had just received the same treatment from his own mother.
The two continued to play every other day as they had settled on. The parents met, a deal was made that neither of the pups knew about. Kagome's mother, Kera, decided to let Kagome learn sword play once assured by, Sora, Sesshoumaru's mother that she watched how far Inu-No-Taisho, Sesshoumaru's father, took the training they made a fast friendship
The fathers, that was another story entirely. Juzio, Kagome's Father, was always reserved and did not like to show his emotions, Inu-no-Taisho on the other hand was carefree, and was always joking. They always fought, verbally, thankfully they never took it to swords. The mothers decided on a plan, without much knowledge of their bickering mates. The two were betrothed, but they were not to know of it until they were mature, which would not happen until each was two hundred.
As they matured, they began to experiment with each other, even though they knew it to be wrong. The most they ever did was kiss, but even that was looked down upon. The mother's knew what was going on, and were glad that the two were getting along so well.
One day while Sesshoumaru was tickling Kagome he scraped against her side causing her to bleed, or it should have, but rather then blood he saw a tiny pink ball in his hand. He showed it to Kagome, neither of them knew what it was, so he put it on a necklace and she wore it at all times. Soon after finding the sphere other demons began to lust after it, always were they attacking her trying to get the jewel. Sesshoumaru knew his friend was tired of all the attacks so he stayed with her. They fought them off never once did they lose soon though the life they had would fade.
It was a wonderfully clear night there were so many stars in the sky they could not be counted. They had just professed their love when they were ambushed. This time though they were not attacked by unskilled demons, no these knew how to fight and they knew what they wanted. There must have been a hundred or so of them. They both fought protecting each other, but then something happened. An arrow rammed itself through Kagome's heart, she was dead on the spot. Sesshoumaru lost all control then, he turned into a gigantic dog, killing all those that had been part of his beloved's death. When he was done with avenging his love, he returned to normal.
He picked her up and took her to a nearby well, and he cried, wishing with all his might that this was not so, wishing that something could be done to bring his love back to him, he saw the jewel glow a brilliant white temporarily blinding him, when he could see again his love was gone, he could not smell her anywhere. This was the day that he cried his last tear, this was the day that he loved no more, this was the day his heart died with her.
He returned to her house with the sad news, but the saddest of all news was that they could not even take care of her body as it was meant to be. It was lost to them, just as Kagome was lost. She had died at age one hundred ninety-nine, her birthday would have been the next day, neither had ever known that they were betrothed, and now it didn't really matter.
500 years later
Aliesha could not sleep, something told her to go outside, she did not know why but she did, making sure not to wake her husband she went outside and heard crying down in the old well. When she looked down she saw a girl about five years old, and all the, now human, girl could remember was that her name was Kagome.
The End
