Brigadoon Returns by Smittee

Chapter 1: The Search

This chapter has been edited. Luckily, there wasn't too much to change. Most of Europeans, when you go back to when the stories of leprechauns and such had started, were Gaelic. (At least, I better be right on THAT at least. It's only 11:28, so I should be awake enough this time to know what I'm saying.)

Yep, I don't own Rumiko Takahashi's character, nor was I the one who created the original story of Brigadoon.

Chapter 1: The Search

There have been so many stories, legends, myths, or what have you, about the town of Brigadoon. Did the place really exist, or was it all fantasy? And, if it was real, why does it disappear, only to reappear every 100 years? Sadly enough, you can't get much information about it, living in Japan. And if any information comes, the translation are made, which don't always translate too clearly. Especially with such old Gaelic stories like that. But, there has come one man, who found himself quite determined to find out all he could about this place. And, if it truly does exist, he would go there.

This man has lived since Japan's Feudal Era, lucky enough to be one of the taiyoukai, who were strong enough to survive for such a long time. It was now the 21st century. He has traveled to the Americas, parts of Europe, and other places in Asia. He has learned the Greek and Roman myths, urban legends, and etc. Being as he lived in Japan, and has visited China long before the Meiji Era began, he knew just about all the Orient's mythologies, and known which were true and not. His want to know more of these stories are what brought him to travel.

But, from all the stories he has been told, only two countries myths and legends drew him to keep on delving into it; Ireland and Scotland. They speak of fallen angels and magical beings. They speak of little people and pots of gold. They speak on stories on which people are brought to another realm, where if you eat or drink anything, you'll live forever. Places where a day there means a year here. Yes, the Gaelic certainly knew how to bring someone into their stories, and in a since you feel as if you've seen a winged faerie once before, or a ring of mushrooms that had appeared over night.

The one story that caught this man's eye the most was the story of Brigadoon, from Scotland. But, it seemed anywhere he went, the reasons why this town disappeared seemed to change. Some believed the town was damned for all time, while others believed it to be protected by god. Some believe it to have been part of the faerie realm, while others believe it's all in one's mind. Whatever it was, this man wished to find out. He wanted to know everything! And so, finding it to be the best plan of action, he set off for Ireland, and to the town that was near the woods, in which Brigadoon was suppose to lie.

He took a plane to Scotland, and made sure to have a window seat. His pointed ear were hidden by his long, soft, silver hair. He used his powers to hid his markings on his face and wrists. His face seemed emotionless, but his golden eyes flickered with excitement. He wore light, tan pants, belted with a dark, brown belt. His light, blue shirt was tucked into his pants, while a dark, blue neck tie was tied under his collar. Around his arm was wrapped his light, tan dress jacket. He wore light, tan socks, and dark, brown, penny shoes. A golden watch was attached to his arms, telling what time it was currently in Japan.

The announcement came over that they were just starting to fly over their destination's country. Luckily, in was evening time, so it was not to bright, and not to dark outside. The man looked out the window, and was astonished by the sight he was seeing. A land, hardly tampered with by the technologies of countries like the U.S. and China, the place was almost completely green, rolling hills. Different shades of all sorts of colors told of the patches of wildflowers growing, or the crops in fields. Brown and tan boxes were the sights of small towns and villages.

The man allowed a smile to grace his face, even if it were for only a mere moments. Then, after a while of looking, a normal city began to emerge, and he knew that this is where he'd get off, and then take a train as far as he could. And then, to a carriage ride, instead of taking a car. After all, no land as beautiful as this should have tons of cars, bustling up and down the countryside. He tore his face away from the window, and looked to his watch. He heard a woman speak the time, and so he changed his watch. Then, the announcement to buckle came, and he did so, having trouble hiding the impatient desire to be already in the carriage and traveling within his eyes.

When they had landed, he unbuckled his seatbelt. Forgetting about this carry one bag, he almost walked off, when he heard one of the women, who was working on the plane.

"Mr. Taisho, you forgot your bag."

Sesshomaru Taisho turned around, his hair lifting and landing back upon his back as he did so. He inclined his head, and received the bag from the woman. "Thank you,"was all he said, as he turned back around, and exited out of the plane.

...

The train ride was quiet. Sesshomaru sat near the window again, and walked the rolling countryside laid before him, enjoying the sight from this point of view even more. 'This is how it should be,'he thought to himself, glad he made the decision to come to this country. When he got off, he asked around for the carriage shop. But, instead he kept getting people saying things like,"Why go out in a buggy, when you can be a good lad and get yourselves one of those automobiles to run. It is much faster,"and,"Aye, the fishing is good out there." He chuckled in his thoughts, enjoying the conversations and such he kept finding himself in the middle of.

Finally, Sesshomaru found the place he was looking for, and paid the man for the ride to town. He loaded his luggage, and got in the carriage. While inside, he put on his jacket, starting to feel cold from the climate there. He looked to his watch, and then outside. By the time he got to town, the skies would be dark. 'That won't leave me much time to talk about Brigadoon. But, maybe it's best I just go to an inn and get some sleep.'

...

The carriage stopped before the inn, and Sesshomaru got out. He grabbed his bags and thanked the man for giving him a ride there. The man only nodded, saying 'twas no problem' and went off for the carriage place in town. Sesshomaru watched the man leave for a bit, and then went inside. The man behind the counter greeted him warmly, and told him of the room he had open. Sesshomaru paid for the room, and followed the man to the room, carrying his luggage all the way.

When at the room, the man allowed him to enter and put down his bags. Sesshomaru did so, and turned around the receive his key. The man then told him to have a good night, and shut the door as he left back to the front of the inn. Sesshomaru locked the door, and set his bags at the end of the bag. He decided to unpack tomorrow, not wanting to deal with it that night. He sat on his bed, and took off his tie, laying it on the nightstand near him. He then took off his shoes, laying them beside the bed. He brought his legs upon the bed, and laid down, his head upon his arms. He looked up at the ceiling, trying to figure out what he would do tomorrow, and soon found his eyelids growing heavy.

He allowed his markings to reveal themselves, and he rolled to his side. He soon fell into a deep sleep, exhausted from the trip.

So, how's the first chapter? I know it's short, but I think it's a good intro. Well, this is all for now. Please review and, good night.
