A/N: Yes, another one/shot, song fic. I think I'm addicted to these type of stories. It's pretty long so enjoy!
Inuyasha stood there staring at them both in disbelief. He never thought that she would, that he would, that they would... it was too much to comprehend. Looking back at his oldest brother he glared before unsheathing his sword. Kagome's eyes widened, but Sesshomaru stood still just looking at the hanyou with a smirk on his face.
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do? (oh, oh)
"Do you wish to kill me, little brother?" Sesshomaru asked without a care in the world. Inuyasha growled switching glances between the two standing there as if they didn't do anything wrong.
"Bastard." Inuyasha said through clenched teeth. "Bastard!" he yelled before charging at Sesshomaru. The youkai lord pushed Kagome out of the way before dodging the attack. Kagome fell to the ground before looking up to see a flash of lightning. A storm was brewing and the two brothers were trying to kill each other for her mistake. No, not a mistake. Her decision. She was tired of Inuyasha playing her for a fool. She deserved happiness too. So she happened to find it in his brother what's it to him?
Couldn't take all this anymore
What would you do, do, do?
She watched as Inuyasha lunged into the air to meet his brother as their blades collided and crashed against each other. "Stop." She said breathlessly barely above a whisper as the tears fell from her eyes. Another flash of lighting and the heavens opened up weeping amongst them. Sesshomaru managed to knocked Inuyasha's sword out of his hand and it went flying to the ground. Jumping to her feet she moved before the blade hit her. The sound of wet dirt being sliced was the sound that met her ears followed by the sound of a body hitting the ground as well.
Inuyasha winced as he tried to sit back up. He looked up and his eyes fell on those of a horrified Kagome with tears in her eyes sliding down her cheeks to mingle with the rain. Her hair was now drenched and the rain began to poor down harder to the ground. How could she? How could she betray him. She moved to help him up, but he jerked away. "Bitch."
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
"Inuyasha I..." she started but stopped when he lifted his hand and pulled himself up using his sword to hold him up and help him catch his balance.
He looked at her out the corner of his eye breathing heavily and glaring at her with all the anger and hatred he felt at the moment. "I have nothing to say to you. You're a traitor." Once the words left his lips he lunged back at his brother.
Staring at his back she wanted to cry. Had she really caused him so much pain? So much hurt? Shaking her head she pushed the thoughts away thinking he never thought of that when he hurt her, but still she forgave him and he continued to hurt her. She stared at the muddy ground clenching and unclenching her fist. "Still." she whispered to herself. "Still I forgave you. Why can't you let me be happy?" Another sound of a body hitting the ground caught her attention as her head snapped up. This time it wasn't Inuyasha. It was Sesshomaru with Inuyasha's sword going through his shoulder pinning him to the ground and he was looking up at the hanyou in the sky. Kagome looked up at the horrific sight. "He's transforming." she said to herself before noticing what he was planning.
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do?
Picking up her bow and an arrow she ran to the youkai and stood in front of him as Inuyasha came down with the intent to kill, eyes burning red, fangs bared and sharp as a loud growl emitted from his throat. "No! Inuyasha, don't!" she cried before aiming her arrow at him. He dodged it and she gasped with only one other option, "SIT!" and with that word he came crashing down to the ground hard. Before Inuyasha's body could crush her she felt herself being pulled back and out of the way.
Looking up she saw Sesshomaru growling as he put his hand over the hole in his shoulder. "That was foolish."
"I didn't want him to hurt you." Kagome answered softly.
Quicker than her eyes can register and faster than Sesshomaru had time to move Inuyasha was back on his feet and made a swipe for the first body he saw which happened to be Kagome's. Surprised Kagome made a pained sound before moving back noticing the three gashes Inuyasha just caused to her side. She put her hand there and lifted it for her to see the blood. Sesshomaru looked at it as well and growled when he noticed the hanyou laughing at his accomplishment if it could even be called that.
He stood there just staring his brother in the eyes. Challenging him. Daring him. Waiting for him to make his move. The move that he intended to be his last. The cold rain pounded them. The sun was no longer visible for the dark clouds cover them, but you could still tell it was the middle of the day. Sesshomaru made a move towards him but Kagome stopped him by placing her hand on his chest. She didn't want Sesshomaru to kill him. In all rights Inuyasha had the right to feel the way he did, just not the right to try to kill them over it.
"Let me talk to him." she said lifting pleading eyes to look at him. Sesshomaru, her new friend, her protecter, and her lover. "Please."
Looking back at Inuyasha he glared, "I do not think that is..."
"Trust me." she said softly before dropping her bow and picking up two other arrows laying on the ground. Her arrows were scattered all over the place because when Inuyasha saw Sesshomaru and herself at the well kissing he picked up her quiver of arrows that was resting next to a tree a few feet away from the well and threw them at them, but Sesshomaru having the quick reflexes and sharp senses he had hit them away scattering her arrows all over the now soaked ground. She stood back up and looked at Inuyasha in his blood red eyes as he looked back. Holding his eyes with hers she decided then she wasn't going to back down from him. She no longer will roll over and forgive him like a good love-sick puppy anymore.
What are you waiting for?
I'm not running from you (from you)
"Talk huh? What makes you think I want to hear anything from you?!" Inuyasha barked angrily.
She shrugged, "You don't have to think. Just listen."
"Make me." he growled lowly before running towards her claws sharp and ready.
"Sit." she stated calmly and fell to the ground, but he was recovering again. "Sit, sit, sit, sit sit!" she yelled and a huge crater formed around his body. Deciding this was her chance he ran to him and turned him over to straddle him. "Sit, sit, sit." she whispered, hurt that it had to come to this. She pulled his hands over his head as she took her two arrows and stabbed them through each palm releasing a bit of her miko energy into them so that they would pin him there so he couldn't move at all.
He opened his eyes and stared at her growling in both pain and anger. "What are you doing bitch?"
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
She put her hands on the side of his face and leaned over kissing his lips softly. "I'm sorry." Leaning back up she slid her hands to his chest holding them there.
Inuyasha's body jerked as he felt a tingling burning sensation enter him. He growled trying desperately to get his hands free so he could get her off of him. "Stop." he commanded harshly. She looked into his eyes and shook her head. "I said stop!" he warned and she sent another shock of her powers through him and he yelled loudly. "I'll kill you. I'll kill you... you stupid bi..bi..." he couldn't get the word out.
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you
"I tried to love you Inuyasha." she said softly to him. "I tried hard, but you kept throwing my feelings to the side like they didn't matter. Why should I give a damn about how you're feeling right now?" she asked angrily sending another wave through him.
"Kagome! Kagome stop!" he yelled as the red begin to slowly fade.
But nothing seemed to change
I know now, this is who I really am inside
She leaned over to whisper in his ear, "I want to save you from yourself Inuyasha. You can't continue to think that it's all about you. It's not. There's others that have feelings. Sango and Miroku, Shippo, Kirara and definitely me." Another shock and he whispered her name breathlessly. She new what he was about to say and she smiled as she noticed his eyes return to their normal color of gold. He had a tired look on his face and his eyes closed. "I forgive you." Removing her hands from his chest she looked at him. She had successfully exhausted all his energy with her own. He had no more strength to fight. Reaching up she removed the arrows from his palms and threw them to the side before standing up and walking back over to Sesshomaru who only looked down at his now sleeping brother.
She winced a pain shot up the left side of her body. Looking down she saw that her clothes on that side of her body was covered in blood. Lifting her right hand to her wounded side she looked up at Sesshomaru as he moved closer to her. She leaned against him and wrapped her free arm around his waist. He ran his hand through her hair in a gesture to comfort her. "I'm so tired." she said softly. Putting one arm around her waist he leaned and swooped her up with the other arm and carried her. "What about your arm?" she asked.
"It's fine." was his answer before telling her to rest. Looking over his shoulder he saw two figures riding on a cat youkai headed their way. When they made it to his younger brother they jumped down and analyzed the hanyou's injuries. Wasn't as bad as they thought it would be though.
They thought he'd be dead the way the villiager who had saw the fight and immediately ran back to them to warn them of the demon. Sango and Miroku looked at Sesshomaru and noticed he was holding Kagome. Miroku made a move towards him, but Sango grabbed his arm. "Don't. She'll be fine." she stated and nodded to Sesshomaru. "Take care of her Sesshomaru."
He looked at her then turned away and walked away. When he was out of sight Miroku looked at Sango. "What's that about?"
Looking at him she smiled. "Kagome's happy now. Come on. Let's get this goofball up." they both took an arm and pulled him up.
"Alright Inuyasha. Upsy daisy." Miroku said when they got the hanyou up. They could hear him mumble something that sounded like an apology for Kagome. Miroku looked at Sango as they climbed onto Kirara's back. "I wonder who put him out like this." Sango shrugged and then they were off.
~Three Weeks Later~
Sesshomaru sat outside in his gardens under a tree staring at the river that went all the way through his lands. He found himself here a lot now days. Just sitting, staring, and thinking. "What's on your mind today?" a soft voice asked and he didn't even bother to look up. He only reached his hand up. Feeling another hand take his he pulled the owner around to stand in front of him. Seeing the person kneel in front of him he watched as she smiled. "You always look so depressed. What's wrong my love?" she asked as she moved to sit between his legs leaning back into his warmth.
The sun was shining bright today, but he couldn't help but feel empty. Like he was forgetting to do something. "Are you happy Kagome?" he asked out of the blue.
Leaning her head back she smiled at him. "Happier than I've ever been in a long time." putting her hand on the side of his face she pulled him down to kiss her. She loved his kisses. The way his soft lips carressed hers, the way his tongue danced the dance of love with her own. The warm sensational spark she feel when their lips joined was incredible and she couldn't think of anyone she'd be happier with.
Fighting for a chance
I know now, this is who I really am.
Sesshomaru broke the kiss and stared her in her beautiful brown eyes. He never in a million years thought that he would be here with her. If someone would have told him in the beginning when he first met her that he would fall in love with her he probably would have kill them only to bring them back and slice their head off.
It's been three weeks since the fight with Inuyasha. The first week was hard because she had been on the brink of death and he had a very difficult choice to make. Bond himself to her for all eternity or let her die. It didn't take him long to think about it in fact once the healer told him his choices. Once his options left the elderly healer's lip he ordered her out and she did so without another word.
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
He sat there staring at the girl who was breaking out in a cold sweat right in front of his eyes, slowly dieing and pulling away from him. He wasn't going to let that happen. Removing his clothes from his body he laid down next to her. Placing his hand on her head he wiped her forehead. "Open your eyes Kagome."
She had heard him, but it was hard to do so. It seemed like it took less effort just to keep them closed. "Ses...sho...mmaru." she whispered softly as her eyes slowly slid open to look at him. She was pale, so pale she seemed almost gray. He frowned at this and she smiled weakly. "You look like someone just died." he said nothing only looked into her eyes. They were dark no sparkle, no life in them at all. Reading his expression she sighed, "I'm dieing... aren't I?"
Silence.
She shrugged weakly, "At least I was happy before I..."
"Cease." he cut through her sentence and she looked at him. "You are not going to die. I won't allow it."
"Sessho..." he cut her off by kissing her. She laid there still unsure of what to do. It wasn't like she had the energy to push him away.
He pulled away knowing he'd have to ask her permission first. "Do you love me?" tears formed in her eyes and rolled down the sides of her face as she looked him dead in the eyes.
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you
"Yes." her heart began to beat fast and she felt her heart flutter.
He lifted a hand and wiped her tears. "Would you stay with me... forever?"
She looked at him and her voice cracked when she spoke and winced from a sudden pain in her side. "Sesshomaru... I'm hurting."
He placed his hand on her wound and waited for her eyes to meet his again before repeating his question. "I need to know."
Her mouth suddenly felt dry. "Forever." He moved to hover over her. Parting her legs with his knee he slid between her thighs and rested himself there. "What are you..."
"Shhh." he whispered putting his finger over her lips. "Don't speak." He kissed her lips then her cheek followed by her jaw and neck as he slipped himself inside of her weak body. She gasped at the unexpected intrusion. Sure he'd been inside her before, but this was different. She was on the brink of death and all he could think about was sex? As if he knew what was going through her head he whispered into her ear, "I'm going to bond us together. Forever." he said softly.
At this moment, forever seemed like such a short time. She wasn't sure what this bonding thing was suppose to do. Was it suppose to help her in some way? Even if it did, she would still die someday and forever would still seem short. What was the point?
Break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)
Before she had a chance to think anymore on it he kissed her. Before he slid his tongue into her mouth he slid it against his fang so that he would bleed. When their tongues met Kagome could taste the metallic flavor on his tongue. She didn't like the taste of it, but she still couldn't pull back. Sesshomaru slowly pulled out of her only to push back in as he bit her bottom lip to take some of her blood. It wasn't necessary that he did so, he just wanted to. And he always did what he wanted.
He could hear her moan a little and he cut into his tongue again with his fang pushing the blood down her throat. Kagome slowly and still a bit weak lifted her hands and held onto his shoulders.
What if I wanted to break...?
When he thrust inside of her again she shivered and he had to catch himself before he marked her as a mate. He didn't want to do that. He'd much rather her make that decision on her own. What he was doing would only give them a bond to each other. Giving the other a bit of one's power through the blood making them stronger and closer and it was done best if the male was inside of the female. When her body came down from her high he looked at her as her eyes slid close. Kissing her lips again he slid out of her moving to put his clothes back on he pulled the cover back over her body and walked out.
It hadn't taken long for her to get her color back and for the life to return back to her eyes. It had taken two days for her to get a bit of her strength back though. He had always told her to rest, but she wouldn't hear it. Always saying she was tired of sleeping and laying down so he allowed her to go outside with him and sit under the tree next to the river in the gardens. It was her favorite place to be he came to learn.
He had kissed her again. They could hear footsteps coming towards them, but didn't care at the moment. He wasn't in the mood to greet any unexpected visitors. Matter of fact. He wasn't in the mood to greet this visitor at all. It it was up to him, he'd be in the ground. Never leaving Kagome's lips he gave a warning growl and that caught Kagome's attention. Breaking the kiss she looked up and saw the familiar face of Inuyasha. She stared at him and he at her. She could feel Sesshomaru tense up. She could feel his hands twictch in anticipation.
Bury me, bury me
(I'm not running from you)
"I didn't come for a fight." he had said as he stooped down so that he was eye level with the couple. Reaching his hand out to Kagome he smiled warmly and forgivingly. "I'm just here to return this to it's rightful owner." He opened his hand and it was the shikon jewel.
Kagome shook her head, "I have no need for it."
"Neither do I." he answered. "I'd rather it stay here with you where I know it's safe from the wrong hands, than to stay with me. Kaede won't be around for much longer and I'm not going to stick around that villiage forever. Just..." he stopped as he glanced at his brother, but bringing his attetion back to Kagome when he saw that his brother was glaring at him. "... take it please, Kagome."
What if I
What if I
What if I
"I can only trust you with it." he added.
Reaching out she took it from his hands, but before she could take her hand back he caught it with his own and brought it to his lips and kissed it. Sesshomaru growled again, but Inuyasha ignored it. "I'm sorry Kagome, for everything." she nodded. Turning around he walked away waving to them, "Hold on to her Sesshomaru. Don't make the same mistake I made." then he was gone.
Kagome looked down at the jewel in her hand and held it close to her chest silently vowing to protect the jewel from those who seeked it for the wrong reasons. Sesshomaru stared at the place where his brother was before he disappeared.
"Well." Kagome smiled. "Guess I have something to do now for those times you go off without me." taking the jewel she placed it around her neck and leaned back into his warmth taking his arms and wrapping them around herself.
He looked down at her in amazement. Just like that. She let him go again with his life. He often think back to three weeks ago when she had the hanyou pinned down. The perfect time to kill him and yet she didn't. "You forgave him." it wasn't a question, just him stating the obivious.
She nodded as she held the jewel in her hand that now hung from her neck, "What's the point in holding grudges? It only becomes a burden if you don't."
"Hn." was his reply.
A/N: Woah seven whole pages! Okay that's it for this story. I think it's a good one, what do you guys think? Did you enjoy it? Please review and let me know. No flames please of course. Flames depress me. If you have something negative to say say it to me in a private message or something. Like I mentioned before this is a one-shot. There would be no sequel. Hopefully I ended it with closure, unlike the last one-shot I did.
