You Can Stand Under My Umbrella by The Happy Hentai

You Can Stand Under My Umbrella

The song is "Umbrella" by Rhianna. I would like to thank SongLyrics.com for the words.

Kagome stood on the stage bopping to the music as it came on. Sesshoumaru was on her mind. The object of her affections was sitting a few tables away with her friends, his head nodding. He had been going through some tough times, with the nonsense with his father and the ongoing drama with his brother. She chose this song to let him know where she stood. She locked eyes with him. And sang.....

You have my heart

And we'll never be worlds apart

Maybe in magazines

But you'll still be my star

Baby cause in the dark

You can't see shiny cars

And that's when you need me there

With you I'll always share

Because

When the sun shine

We'll shine together

Told you I'll be here forever

Said I'll always be your friend

Sesshoumaru was a lifelong friend. Although six years older than her, he had always treated her sweet. One of her first memories was of him throwing her into the air and smiling. Although many things had changed, themselves included, they had remained close.

He had shown up at her apartment three weeks ago, with a single suitcase, drenched. She had shown him in, pointing him towards the bathroom. As he ate hot soup, wrapped in a couple of towels, he told her what happened.

His father was riding on him to marry because his stepmother suddenly had a taste for grandchildren. A couple of her friends had become young grandmothers and she wanted to brag about her own. This was a burden on him as his indulgent father had started pushing eligible females toward him. Papa Inu was starting to add stipulations to Sesshoumaru's place in his life. Hell on Earth was his description.

He had lasted for eight months before it had erupted into a gigantic argument about Sesshoumaru being selfish. All they wanted was grandchildren. There were females actually ready to spread their legs at a moment's notice if he even looked at them cross-eyed! It was too much. He'd left the family compound as soon as he could.

Took an oath I'ma stick it out till the end

Now that it's raining more then ever

Know that we'll still have each other

You can stand under my umbrella

You can stand under my umbrella

(Ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

Kagome had told him that if he ever needed her or a place to stay all he had to do was show up or call. She would accept him, no questions asked. She knew what his family was like. His father used guilt as his greatest weapon and he wielded it with the greatest ease. Inuyasha was the world's sometimes sweetest guy but biggest asshole. He was a great friend to her but like a thorn in Sessh's side. She had become their referee at a young age. In her own way she had tried to protect Sesshy from his trouble making brother and overbearing father.

These fancy things

Will never come in between

You're part of my entity

Here for infinity

When the war has took it's part

When the world has dealt it's cards

If the hand is hard

Together we'll mend your heart

Because

This was the first time that he had ever accepted her hospitality. She had left her mother's home at the ripe age of eighteen, getting her own apartment when she left to go to college. Sharing a room with her sister Kikyo had been hell and she had been determined to have a little place to herself. Ever since the day she had moved into her little studio the invitation had been open. He had smiled and shook his head, secure in his own home, regardless of how frustrating, but never turned her down. A thank you and a wonderful hug had been her answer.

When the sun shine

We'll shine together

Told you I'll be here forever

Said I'll always be your friend

Took an oath I'ma stick it out till the end

Now that it's raining more then ever

Know that we'll still have each other

You can stand under my umbrella

You can stand under my umbrella

(Ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

Now, almost seven years later, here he was, sleeping in her spare bedroom. His father had called looking for him and she had told him that she hadn't seen or heard from Sessh since last week. He had sat across from her, amber eyes glittering, as she lied to his father.

You can run into my arms

It's okay don't be alarmed

(Come into me)

(There's no distance in between our love)

So go on and let the rain pour

I'll be all you need and more

Because

They had been through a lot, between childhood and now. Through ups and downs their friendship had stood firm. Boyfriends, girlfriends, lying friends and whatnot had not separated them. In the last few years, though, friendship on her part had turned to something else.

Love....

She wanted him to know....tonight.

When the sun shine

We'll shine together

Told you I'll be here forever

Said I'll always be your friend

Took an oath I'ma stick it out till the end

Now that it's raining more then ever

Know that we'll still have each other

You can stand under my umbrella

You can stand under my umbrella

(Ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh)

Under my umbrella

(ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)

Sesshoumaru watched as Kagome sang. That song was remarkably apt. Whether it was in response to the damp weather or the madness in his life, it was deep.. He had heard it on the radio and it never failed to bring up images of Kagome. It usually brought daydreams of them with children bouncing around them. Little frisky black-haired blue-eyed girls with her attitude. Little silver-haired boys with amber eyes. He had been ashamed of his feelings at first, because of their close relationship, but she had been seen in a new light.

She, that little 5'8" female (he was 6'6"), had rescued him.

When the shit had hit the fan, she had provided, heh heh, an umbrella and led him to shelter.

He could see of only one way to repay her for her years of 'service'. While this was a little more public than he expected, there was no hesitation. That's why he'd brought the little black box with him tonight. He hoped she let him have his way.

It's raining

Ooh baby it's raining

Baby come into me

Come into me

It's raining

Oh baby it's raining

The music ended and Kagome smiled and bowed. Applause and whistles followed her off the stage. She walked back to the table where Sango, Miroku, Kouga, Ayame, and Sesshoumaru were sitting.

Sesshoumaru stood up and held out her chair for her. She sat down and then looked up at him and frowned. He was still standing. 'What was wrong?'

Sesshoumaru strode to the stage and stepped upon it, grabbing the mike. "I just wanted to respond to that last song that was just sung. That young lady said that someone could stand under her umbrella. She has been holding one up for me for as long as I can remember. She has always been my "Little Miss Sunshine," protecting me from the rain. Not only that, but she took an oath nearly seven years ago and when I finally held her to it, she honored it without question. She has blessed me continuously with her presence in my life and I, selfishly, I might add, don't want that to stop."

The audience laughed and Kagome blushed, looking at the floor, embarrassed by his pretty words. She would've never thought he had it in him. Sesshoumaru was full of surprises it seemed. Gasps from the table and all around her had her eyes flying to the stage.

Sesshoumaru had gotten down on one knee and opened a small black box. It's contents glittered in the lights.

"Kagome, will you let me hold up the umbrella for the rest of our lives? No day has ever been gloomy when you smiled at me. Chase away the darkness of my days with the brightness of your lovely spirit. Marry me."

Kagome's eyes were as wide as saucers. 'He didn't just ask what she thought he did, right?' The people pushing her towards the stage apparently thought so. She stumbled up the steps and looked upon him. Up close his amber eyes were swirling with emotions. She could see uncertainty, but mostly she could see love. For her...

She walked to him slowly and spoke the first words that came to mind.

"I've loved you for so long I started to feel guilty being your friend."

"Awwww!" The audience was rapt as he placed the ring upon her finger and swept her into his arms. They kissed as more than friends for the first time ever.

It certainly wasn't the last.

She blessed him with eight children, five boys and three girls. Each one was conceived during a bout of rain. The oldest the fateful night Sesshoumaru proposed.

Their children loved their parents thoroughly and felt they knew them fairly well.

Yet, there was one thing that never failed stymie them. No matter how many discussions they had they couldn't figure it out. It was.....weird, to say the least. They chalked it up to old people's craziness.

Every time their mother opened an umbrella their father's eyes would get this gleam........

After hearing this song, this is what I got. I will be updating on The Matchmakers soon. I apologize for taking so long updating, for those who actually read it, but I've been studying for a test for the last three months and it sort of got pushed on the wayside. I appreciate those of you that support me.

Thanks for reading!
