I Won't Say I'm in Love
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha or the movie Hercules. This is purely fan-based material. Enjoy ^.^
A/N: So, after much deliberation, I finally decided to use this fic my 'debut'. It is based on the song I Won't Say I'm In Love, from Disney's Hercules [I'm a big sucker for musicals... will probably write more in the future.] This was supposed to be an experiment, to see how my writing would be received by everyone. Reviews would be great, criticism even more so. Hey, flames are cool too.
I Won't Say I'm In Love
Kagome watched her lover rise with a goofy smile plastered on her face. Her raven hair was slightly mussed, her pink nails chipped, and her cherry lips swollen, but she didn't care. Azure eyes still unfocused, she watched him dress with an exaggerated slowness only he was capable of. She almost blushed as soft amber orbs caught her gaze, but chose at that moment to look away.
She heard a rustle of fabric as he bent down and kissed the top of her head. Then, from folds of his robes, he produced a stunning white flower, which he offered her with a gesture of his elegant claw.
Kagome smiled shyly as she accepted the gift, cupping the petals in her small hands.
"Sesshoumaru..." she started, almost stopping as he cocked an eyebrow in question.
"I love... the flower," she said, losing her nerve. He nodded, and with a soft smile kissed the top of her head. Then, is a whirl of silk, he was gone.
She could have screamed she was so upset. What's the matter with me? You'd think a girl would learn, she fumed. She'd almost told him she loved him. And we know how that backfired last time.
Kagome thought back to rugged half-demon she had once loved, and the dead priestess who had wooed him away. I won't do it again. I won't fall in love. She flung the blossom onto the grassy floor, and sat on a tree stump, sighing dejectedly.
If there's a prize for rotten judgment
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history, been there, done that
She would no longer lie to herself. Yes, Inuyasha's betrayal had changed her, for better or worse she could only guess. She certainly wasn't a naïve school-girl anymore that was for sure.
Kagome's cute face contorted in a grimace as she realized the bashful dog still ruled her life. Dog. Yes, those dogs were the problem. Possessive, controlling, hormonal dogs!
"How could I think I'd fallen for Sesshoumaru? That's one thing that's never gonna happen!"
[Muses:] Who'd'ya think you're kiddin'
He's the Earth and heaven to you
Try to keep it hidden
Honey, we can see right through you
Girl, ya can't conceal it
We know how ya feel and
Who you're thinking of
Kagome started as her own voice seemed to answer her. True, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha looked alike, extraordinarily alike in fact. But, the fact remained that they were two very different individuals.
Where Inuyasha was ruggedly handsome, Sesshoumaru had almost a feminine beauty. Where Inuyasha was blunt and obnoxious, Sesshoumaru was soft and well-spoken. When she compared Sesshoumaru to Inuyasha, what wasn't to love?
Kagome scowled, catching herself at the last moment. She had almost fallen into the 'love-trap' again. She jumped abruptly off her perch, and shuffled over to the nearby brook.
I thought my heart had learned its lesson
It feels so good when you start out
My head is screaming get a grip, girl
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out
Oh
She flung herself onto the grass, and stared at her reflection. She didn't just didn't want to love anyone again. Sure, Inuyasha had been a goon, but what about Hojo and Kouga? What did she have to show for love but a couple of lousy experiences and one near catastrophe? An oath of celibacy sounded pretty good right about now.
[Muses:]
You keep on denying
Who you are and how you're feeling
Baby, we're not buying
Hon, we saw ya hit the ceiling
Face it like a grown-up
When ya gonna own up
That ya got, got, got it bad
Kagome closed her eyes for a moment, trailing her foot in the calm water. After tonight, she doubted celibacy was even a possibility, let alone an option. She could still feel his strong arms embracing her, the warmth from his body heating her, the-
She felt the blood rush to her face as her eyes popped open. No, celibacy was not even on the horizon. Sesshoumaru had successfully transformed her into a wanton, dare she say it, wench. His wanton wench to be precise.
Horrified, Kagome slapped at her reflection, effectively dousing her face. She had spent way too much time in this clearing. It was beginning to feel unhealthy.
[Meg:]
No chance, now way
I won't say it, no, no
Kagome felt her resolve wavering as she continued to turn ideas around in her head. Her attempts to stop her feelings became weaker. She just couldn't take being hurt anymore. She would... break.
She blinked down the hot tears that had begun to gather behind her eyes. Looking for any distraction, her eyes darted around the clearing. A ray of moonlight caught the silky petals of her flower, and immediately drew her gaze.
Her eyes softened. Walking thoughtlessly towards the blossom, she stopped mere inches before it.
[Muses:]
Girl, don't be proud
It's O.K. you're in love
Kagome smiled softly as her conscience's words flashed in her brain. Bending over, she tenderly picked up the flower and walked soundlessly out of the clearing. Maybe... this time would be different.
At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love
