Clawed hands brushed lightly against the thin fabric of her shirt, her black satin waves of hair cascading down her back. Full pink lips turned down in sadness.
"Inuyasha..."
she said softly. Either the han'yo couldn't hear, unlikely, or he wasn't listening, more likely.
"Stop"
she said again saddened blue eye's upturned to his face.
"What's wrong kagome?"
he whispered back hand's resting uncertainly on her waist.
"You don't love me." She replied bluntly.
Inuyasha stared at her dumbly for a moment before his brow's knitted in confusion.
"How can you say that?"
"You're in love with kikyo."
Said kagome masking her sadness poorly.
"How can that possibly be? She died in the battle with Naraku, kagome I love you!" kagome pulled away from Inuyasha her gaze downcast. "no." Inuyasha let out a frustrated growl and pulled kagome into a kiss, conveying hiss emotion's through this simple gesture.
All kagome felt was emptiness. It wasn't her he kissed it was some one long dead. He'd lost his heart long ago and she was not going to moon after some one who could never truly lover her. She broke the kiss she would not be a replacement.
She pulled the whole shikon from beneath her shirt. "Who do you really want Inuyasha?" she questioned. Inuyasha was clearly distressed. He looked at the moon lit forest around him and at the moon. Anywhere but kagome.
"I see."
She said. She closed her eyes and brought the tama to her heart. Hand's folded over it she prayed her wish to the jewel. "I wish for everyone's happiness."
Light flickered from the jewel in her hand and it split into five different shards of light. One went towards Inuyasha and the other three through the tree's where Sango shippo and Miroku waited. She couldn't go back to them now. The last bit of light began to fade as it speeded through the trees.
She ran after that light not knowing or caring where it went as long as it took her away from Inuyasha and the now living kikyo. She had prayed for everyone's happiness except her own. Had she and the jewel would again have been corrupt.
'Everyone close to me is happy. I should be too.'
She grimaced as she continued to dash through the trees. 'Yeah right. I deserve to be happy too. I want to be happy.'
Damn it all why was she even here? Had she never been forcefully dragged down the well, had she been smart and leapt back down it sooner nothing bad would have happened?
Sango would be happily alive with the rest of her family, her village... well Miroku would never have met Sango and Inuyasha would still be sealed, kikyo doomed to eternal hate for whom she truly loved and Naraku would still be alive.
She sighed and slowed her running. "What am I doing?" she questioned her self aloud. "Why do I even bother?" "With what miko, may I ask are you bothering with?" kagome turned her attention to the owner of the silky voice. Sesshomaru.
"If you're not going to kill me Sesshomaru than do me the curtsy of leaving me alone." Sesshomaru turned his head sideways. 'Of coarse even if he was going to leave he's not now. I practically ordered him to.' Sesshomaru was by her in moment's staring into her eyes. Sadness was there hidden in the depths but still there.
In truth Sesshomaru had always admired the miko and had a bit of a 'thing' for her. He had followed a pink pure light to the miko and realized what the wish she made must have been. Happiness for all but her. An admirable accomplishment. To have gone through so much pain and stress and to gain absolutely nothing in return. Her sent had none of the fear that normally mixed with her sweet sent. 'hn' he thought continuing to stare at her, molten gold eye's piercing and for once uncovered by ice.
Kagome took a step back then another 'what do I do to get myself in these position's?' "Sesshomaru could you please stop that." Asked kagome not really expecting it to work. To her surprise it did. Sesshomaru decreased the intensity of his stare (often a glare). 'Why not tell her now?' he thought. 'Certainly no harm can be done.'
He took a step closer to kagome and did something that he had wanted to do for a while. He leaned forward and brushed his lips against kagome's. He smirked against them when her felt her stiffen. For a moment it was completely one sided. But still it was only for a moment.
Kagome had of coarse gone into shock at first. The cold hearted 'I will kill you if you don't remove yourself from my person' Tai yokai Sesshomaru that had on several occasion's tried to kill her for no reason other than the fact that he was simply bored, had KISSED her! A human no less. Her mental babbling shut off after a second and for some unknown reason she realized that she liked the feel of his lip's brushing and pressing against hers' the feel of his clawed, usually lethal hand on the back of her neck.
Tentatively at first she kissed back meek and timid as she felt at first. The kiss felt right with him, he would love her, for him she wasn't a replacement, and she was her self and no one else. He pulled away from her staring at her momentarily before saying an incredibly obvious statement "I believe that was adequate to express how I feel for you kagome."
Penguin's were selling ticket for sleigh ride's in hell.
He'd kissed her AND called her by her name. "I knew killing Naraku was too easy there's no way you could possible be Sesshomaru!" Sesshomaru lifted a snowy brow. "Naraku would hardly be so charming, particularly since he's a corps." Kagome was about to reply to this when he kissed her.
All doubt's slipped from her mind. This was Sesshomaru. She practically melted against him.
Yep it was not Naraku.
