"Father must we go to this ball? I really don't want to go. Kano and me will be safe here by ourselves. I don't want to be showed off to just be the center of attention. Must I take a mate because I would be better of without one." She new she just crossed a line she shouldn't have crossed. She could feel his anger through the stare he was giving her. "Kagome you will go and it is not intended to get you a mate. Lord Inutashio and the rest agree would should know the other children so they would not come to harm should they wander on to our lands. Now get ready to go to the west." She left to find her brother. He was in the gardens waiting for her. " He said we had to go didn't he sister. Then lets leave tonight so we don't have to go." "I don't think that will be a good idea brother because he will hunt us down this time. He said this ball was for our safety and I believe him." She knew that they would be running tonight because her brother would be going no matter what she said. " Forget I said anything brother and I'll get ready to leave." Kagome walked be into her home knowing this would be the last time she would see it. She would never return to the bastard. He had killed her father then tried to force her mother into submission by beating her and her brother. She would go to the Inutashio for help in this matter because by the time she got there her bruises would start to show from that morning. They had planed this when this when they found out about the ball two moons ago. She reached to find her mother waiting for her. " Kagome my daughter I know what you and your brother plan. I will give you the time you need to get to the west. If you run into any one tell them that we sent you on ahead. Please reach Sakura before he finds out that I let you go. I will go to him tonight but I will try everything I can to stop him from touching me. That should give you the time you need and give Inutashio enough proof to bring the other to lords in to bring him death." Kagome just nodded her head got ready to run the west. The nock at the door made both jump. " My lady the lord wishes to see you in his chambers." They waited till they heard her leave. "Get Kano and run now."

All the guards saw was a quick blur of black and gold as they ran through the front gates. They knew they had to run at full speed otherwise they would be caught and they couldn't let that happen. "Kano we must go to Inutashio as soon as we get to the western lands. We cannot rest otherwise mother will pay the ultimate price for us running away." " I know Kagome but we might not be able to make it till the sun is rising. We must keep running till we cannot run no more.

In the west...

"Father why must we hold this ball?" Sesshoumaru didn't like the fact that his father and the other two lords that that it was important to hold it. "Because we think that the lord of the north is causing harm to the lady and her children. We cannot prove it without the children and that is why you and kouga will talk with Kano and Ashline and Jade will talk to Kagome. We need proof so we can make sure they are safe." A nock resounded through the study and Inutashio knew it was his mate. "What is it Sakura?" She came into the room and went to her mate. "I have received word that Sanga's children will be arriving soon but without her with them. I heard that they have run away and that they be coming to us. I believe the person who has told me this for they saw them running to our home mate." he knew then the rumors the lords had heard were true. "Get then rooms ready. I will go to meet them. Hell if I had known earlier I would never have let this get this far."

With Kagome and Kano...

"Kagome when we cross the border we need to rest a little. We cannot keep running like this tell we get there." they had been running for the past four hours and were close to the border. They needed to rest and she knew if they did then they wouldn't make it in time to save their mother. "We cannot rest Kano. Mother will die if we rest. He will kill her like he killed our father. I will not allow that to happen." She knew her body could not take much more because of the beating she got that morning. 'If only I could get to the palace she would be safe.' They were about to cross the border when she say the guards waiting on the other side. She knew they would take her to Inutashio. "Sister please stop other wise they will attack us." He stopped before he could cross but Kagome run right across and the guards stopped her. "Don't worry my lord we will take you to the lord." Kano crossed and let them lead to the palace moon. After fifteen minutes Kagome collapsed and hit the ground. "Kagome wake up. Damn it Kagome wake up." Kano was holding her and shaking her. He knew that she should have stayed but he would have stayed with her. "My lord let me carry her. We will get there faster if I carry her." Kano knew that this man spoke the truth. "If any harm comes to my sister you will die."

Inutashio and Sakura were waiting at the gates when the two he sent showed up. He noticed his general was carrying some one with golden hair. 'she is asleep. She must have passed out from all the running that hey have done.' "Take her to her rooms then send the healer to see her. Kano I am sorry we didn't do anything sooner." "As long as my sister is safe now is all that matters. I wish to retire so please show me to my rooms. We will explain tomorrow after we have rested."
