~~~~~An: No ya'll I didn't die i have just been very busy with school, fighting with the ex, and helping with my family. Not sure when i will be able to work on The Races or His Brother, My Lawyer. So yeah just keep a look out... i'll get to it eventually.

The Day After

"I can't believe that you forgot about Valentines Day you ass!" Kagome yelled as she threw an antique vase that had been in his family for years, across the room at her mate.

Now to come right out and say he was afraid of his mate when she was like this would only make he, Lord Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western lands seem like a chicken. But when she was like this, untamable and pissed he was scared. He was out patrolling his lands trying to keep his mate and his people safe, but did she see it that way? ... Nope.

When he had gotten back to his palace he had found his mate passed out on the bed with flower pedal spread about. 'Shit.' Was the first thing he thought of when he seen it. So thinking he could get away with the, 'I got in late and didn't want to wake you.' trick, he took of his armor and crawled into the bed behind his mate.

Unfortunately as soon as he wrapped his arms around her she was awake and ready for answers. "Just where the hell had you been all night?"

And that's how it started.

Kagome was so mad that she took a change of cloths and slept in another room which did not please Sesshoumaru but he knew that he had messed up. So when dawn finally broke he cleaned up and tried to talk to his mate but she ignored him the whole time. She would smile and wave at the passing servants but would totally ignore his presents.

Finally Sesshoumaru broke down and he enlisted the help of his most trusted friend, which surprisingly turned out to be the leecherous monk, Miroku. After the last battle with Naraku and Inuyasha followed Kikyo to hell. Sango, Miroku, and Shippo all came back to the castle to live with Kagome.

Naturally Sango and Miroku got their own little house on the castle grounds inside the palace gates but they didn't have to live in the Palace and could come and go as they pleased.

"What should I do Miroku?" Sesshoumaru asked in a serious voice as he watched the last of the patrons leave the temple. Miroku being his head monk was in charge of over seeing things and making sure it ran smoothly. Once he was done the two headed for the castle. Rarely was there a need to ask advice but he was desperate. It was natural for an Inu demon to want to make their most prized possession as happy as can be and it would bother them when said possession was not happy with them.

"Personally I would ravish Sango until she forgave me, but since she is not talking to you that is a bit impossible." Miroku said.

Sesshoumaru sent Miroku a glare across the table. Currently they were sitting in Sesshoumaru's study going over "Land Defenses." "Perhaps you could take her out, fly around on your cloud let her see the stars from up there, set up a romantic dinner in a secluded clearing with a hot spring or a water fall, eat then ravish her. Either way you get what you want. She forgives you and you get laid what move could you want?"

Sesshoumaru just let out an evil smirk, "That, Miroku, is a great idea. Would you mind keeping an eye on things here, I have to find some of those candles and a blanket and have dinner made and packed, it may take me a while. Keep Kagome distracted."

With that he left. Who knew that he would actually take his advice. 'Oh Kami's! What an I going to tell the girls?' Miroku thought as he got up and went to the door to find them.

It wasn't hard to find them they were where they always were in the garden. Sango and Kagome both held a sword. Sango used training Kagome to lose the weight she put on from when she had Miroku's children and Kagome used the lessons to work out her frustrations about Sesshoumaru.

Miroku never interfered; those two with a sword were forces to reckon with. Especially Kagome as of lately, she was usually mad about something, and it normally had Sesshoumaru's name written all over it.

It's not that she didn't realize that he was an important guy and all because she did, but when she had mated him he had promised that she would never need any thing, but what she needed most was never home.

Yes, she liked having things but she wanted her mate more than any thing, she did mate him for his fortune. Damn it! She wanted babies like Sango had and he was not home enough to give he some. She thought as she lunged at Sango again and theY clashed with a grunt. So when she told him about Valentines Day she thought she would finally get her chance and then he went and forgot. 'DAMN HIM ANY HOW!' she thought as she lunged a Sango with so much force that it momentarily stunned Sango. Slipping back Sango got her footing and pushed back.

Every time she would get a chance he would mysteriously disappear oR be out patrolling his land. No one had tried to attack since Naraku was killed, would it kill him to take a day off every once in a while. She just wanted her mate.

Kagome had begun to cry as she and Sango had spared. "Kagome, hunny what is wrong?" Sango asked as she lower her sword and approached Kagome.

"Is it so hard to understand I just want to be with my mate, I don't want to wake up in the morning alone, nor do I want to go to sleep like that. I just want him, I mean I mated him and he said I would never want any thing but the thing I want the most is never around for me to have." Kagome sank to her knees and cried as Sango cradled her as she cried. "I mean would it kill him to take a day off every once in a while? I mean a real day off, none of this 'I have things that need taken care of' shit then take off to the study all day."

Sango and Miroku were at a loss neither had known that Kagome had felt this way. They were shock to see her tore up like this, she had never been this bad when they were traveling and Inuyasha had chose Kikyo or even when he had died, and followed her to hell.

Sesshoumaru stood at the entrance of the garden and listened to his mate. He beast howled because she was in pain. It called him every name in the book for not being with her more like it had wanted them to. Sesshoumaru knew that it was right, he should have been there more, he just thought that Kagome would want space and he needed to take care of his lands before he started a family with her, granted they had Rin and Shippo but, he wanted an heir soon, not to mention the other lords pushing him for one as well, and he didn't want to bring it into an unsafe environment.

So he patrolled diligently and the one to suffer the most was Kagome, but what he heard next broke him more than anything yet, even his own mother's passing.

"Does he find me unattractive, I just don't understand why he doesn't want me anymore? I tried to be a good mate really I have, I mean he hasn't even made love to me in weeks. I feel like I've done something to chase him away. I mean I love him so much and yet he has never said the same to me. Perhaps I should leave and allow him to find another. I would if that would make him happy."

Sesshoumaru's beast clawed at its cage wanting to be released so it could comfort his mate, it wined in pain when it heard her words, and it wanted to kick his counter parts ass.

Sesshoumaru had never felt so low in all his life, with and ego the size of his he was nearly brought to his knees by his mates' words. Sesshoumaru reined in his beast telling it that he had a plan to make it up to his mate so shut up.

Sesshoumaru went inside to see to the preparations for his dinner.

Kagome calmed down and stood up ready to continue. Miroku looked on in awe hopping that what Sesshoumaru had planned would show Kagome was indeed needed, cherished, and loved, because if not she could walk right out of his life and not look back.

Kagome and Sango were bathing the kids when a handmaiden was sent into finish the work for Kagome and she was sent to get ready to leave. 'Oh no Sesshoumaru had finally gotten tired of me he is going to drop me off in some god forsaken town.' Kagome thought worriedly.

Sesshoumaru could feel Kagome's anxiety, and it pained him to know it was his fault.

Sesshoumaru met Kagome at the main entrance, when she approached he wrapped his arms around her small waist and lifted them into the air on his cloud.

Kagome could not help but snuggle into his warms just in case it was the last time.

Almost as if her read her thoughts he pulled her closer and nuzzled his nose to her neck where he had marked her. He had never completed the bond and let her drink if him, he was always afraid that what he felt would fade and then he would be stuck with a mate he no longer wanted. He knew now, after feeling her pain at his distance that he would never tire of her, not now and not later. EH supposed the subconciously he stayed away because of what he felt. As he flew Kagome thought about her life with Sesshoumaru, sure she was happy with him and she had loved him for a very long time. Since he had joined their group to defeat Naraku, when he really opened up to her, she knew then that she would always love him no matter if he returned her feelings or not.

Soon Sesshoumaru descended out of the air. Kagome closed her eyes 'God this where he is going to leave me.' Sesshoumaru did not know what had he so tense did she not like what he had set up? Then he noticed her eyes were closed, "Kagome, open your eyes." He softly commanded.

When she opened her eyes and gasped, there were candles set up around the clearing that they had landed in and I blanket lain out on the ground. There was a bottle of Sake and two glasses accompanied by a dinner set out. "I know that this can not make up for the last couple of years that I have left you in silence, and it does not make up for missing your special holiday yesterday, but it is a start." Sesshoumaru whispered to her softly as he led her over to the blanket. That's when Kagome noticed the hot spring.

In all it was a beautiful set up. But Kagome's thoughts ate at her until she finally asked, "Sesshoumaru I am confused."

Sesshoumaru just smiled, it was not his evil 'your going to die' not was it his 'Im going to ride you until dawn' smirk, it was a small saddened smile and pulled her down next to him on the blanket. To say Sesshoumaru was nervous was an understatement, He Lord Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western Land never feared, never was defeated, and was never nervous. Butright now in this moment he was both afraid and nervous, 'What if she turned him down what if she really didn't want to be with him?'

Kagome was stunned, She sat in silence for a few moments going over that last part in her mind over and over again until it registered in her head what he had asked her. Sesshoumaru kissed he neck before climbing out and lying down with Kagome on the blanket. The last thought through his head were, 'Not bad for the day after.'
