Boot Camp Mayhem

'It's all over. Naraku is dead. But things will never be the same for me again. To bad Kagura had to live. Oh well. Boot camp will help me out.' Kagome had thought on the bus to a summer time boot camp. The place would be giving lessons from using firearms, to even bows and arrows. It would help increase Kagome's speed, aggression, and help her with her emotion problem. No more crying when Inuyasha kissed Kikyo... Or visa versa.

And it did. When Kagome came home at the end of summer, she had her own bow. It was metal and nearly unbreakable. Kagome had also increased her speed. No more bike in the Feudal Era, Kagome could run faster then that now. When Kagome got off her bus and saw her mother for the first time in three months, she didn't shed one tear. Her hair had also grown longer, much longer. It hung half way down her back, and she wore it in a ponytail. No more skirts either. Army pants and top all the way!

"Kagome, you look so different." Her mother said, hugging her. Kagome hugged back, but she didn't smile. Her eyes looked like she was bored. "Are you ok? Kagome, you seem so different. Your eyes have even changed." And they had. Kagome's eyes were cold and nearly lifeless. There didn't seem to be any happiness in them at all.

"I'm fine mom, just tired." Kagome pushed away from her and walked towards their car. She scowled as she saw Souta bouncing around in the back seat. She opened the door and easily dodged Souta as he sprung forward to attack her. She jumped into the front seat and locked Souta out. Some how this made her happy. Her brother was miserable.

She laughed, but it wasn't her laugh. Boot camp had changed everything about her. Instead of classical music, she loved alternative rock. Bands like, Good Charlotte, Evanessence, System of a Down, and even some other rock groups like Linkin Park. No more Enya or Beethoven. (However you spell it) It was all about the guitars and bass now.

"Kagome, unlock this door now!" Her mother screamed in laughter. Kagome sighed and obeyed her mother's command. So long fun!

When they arrived home, Kagome's grandfather began to cry. He was setting up a banner that exclaimed, 'Welcome home Kagome!' "Are there any messages for me Gramps?" She merely asked. His tears stopped, and he slowly nodded.

"Inuyasha would like you to go to the Feudal Era as soon as possible. He says there is some trouble there." He said, walking into the house. Kagome headed for the well house.

"Kagome, I thought you said you were tired..."

"That was then, this is now-" Her voiced drowned out as she jumped into the well. The Shikon jewel hadn't been destroyed. Instead it was surgically put back into Kagome's body. When Kagome landed and looked up, she saw two eyes staring down at her. With ease, Kagome jumped out of the well just like Inuyasha would have. Immediately, the little kitsune, who looked slightly older, jumped on her. Shippo hugged her tightly, and it took a little while to get him off. Kagome finally smiled, but her eyes were still hard and cold.

"Come on Kagome! Inuyasha is dying to see you!" Shippo yelled, grabbing Kagome's hand and jumping off of her.

"You go on ahead. Tell everyone that you didn't find me. I'm going to check the place out by myself for a little while. Then I'll surprise them, ok?" Kagome said. The kitsune nodded and scurried away. Kagome slowly walked down to the Inuyasha Forest. After she had walked a little ways in, she heard two familiar voices. Kikyo and Inuyasha. Before she knew it, she was walking into the clearing where they were. The two were kissing, and did not see her, so Kagome sat down against a tree. Her army outfit nearly concealing her.

When the kiss ended, Inuyasha sniffed the air. Kikyo's scent filled his nose, but there was someone else's. Someone's he had not smelt for a long time. "Kagome!" He said, looking at her.
