Agent of Fate by GinaBristow
Not Quite A Beginning
It is never possible to go to the beginning of any story, just as it is never possible to go to the ending. My name is Kagome Higurashi, and here I will attempt to tell you the account of my place in fate. Pay close attention to what I say because what I've been through could happen to you if fate so chose. I am a normal woman or at least at one time I thought I was, but let's not start there. To understand my life as I've lived it you have to understand fate.
Fate is not fickle as the philosophical have said. Fate is inevitable, irresistible and fixed. It determines the future. It is the natural order. Fate is invincible. Even the gods have to accede to it. It is the unseen power that rules the destinies of men. It is a tyrant's authority for crime. It is a fool's excuse for his failure.
We all have a path laid before us. Even those who believe that there are many paths to choose from must agree that they are destined to choose only one path. Because after they have decided, they cannot travel back and change their path simply because they do not like where the road of destiny has led them. When my path was reviled to me, I did not understand fate. I tried to avoid what I could not change. My role in the order of the world was set and even my foreknowledge and avoidance could not keep me from my destiny.
I know now that destiny is not a matter of chance, nor it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. For I am the keeper of the Shikon No Tama. It can be used either as barrier to, or an instrument for utter desolation.
There's a thin line between wickedness and righteousness, certainty and doubt, love and hate. I am the custodian that keeps the one object that could permanently sway the balance between good and evil. Blur the steady line between the weak, and strong. Destroy the tragic differences demon and human.
