Chapter 1 :A Damn Cold Night

I'm standin' on the bridge

I'm waitin' in the dark,

I thought that you'd be here, by now.

Theres nothing but the rain,

no footsteps on the ground,

Im listening, but there's no sound.

Standing on a bridge, a lone figure stood in the pitch black darkness of night. The moon had not shown it's self on that night, fearing it's self for what was about to transpire in it's absence. Waiting, the figure wondered when a certain someone would show their face, her paitance wearing thin as it were.

Looking up at the sky no moon in sight, closing her eyes. Letting the rain fall on her face nothing else was around her but the sounds of rain, and the pounding waves below her. Hearing no footsteps on the ground, listening but no sound. "Nothing but me and nature Kami I miss it, and her, everyone,......and home. Stupid jewel, stupid mutt....." She breathed out.

Turning herself around she leaned her back on the railing of the bridge letting her head fall back.

Isn't anyone tryin' to find me?

Won't somebody come take me home.

"Isn't he trying to find me?...... Yeah right like he could, sutpid hanyou he won't be here for a while since it's the new moon." She said to her self. 'It's too bad that I have to be assigned to the stupid trinket. The Shikon no Tama, she should've stayed home and not venture out past the island but her and her curiosity. And what does it do, get her stuck in her stupid jewel.' "Won't someone take me home?"

The night was getting colder as the minutes passed by her. It was sickening to her to wonder what the hell she was thinking when she wanted to get off the island. Oh yes she was an adventrous type of being. "Damn Midiroiko, it's all her fault."

Now she has to figure out how to get out of this. It was going to be difficult considering her supposed incarnate Kikyo hadn't gotten her stupid claydirt hands on the the pup. She had given six years of her never ending life to get her to take the jewel off her hands.

But she had to think about this lil mishap, messing with Naraku's mind was very entertaining, though it get's dull after a year or two of his stupid puppets amd measly threats. Though keeping and eye on the lord was promising, he is an excelent warrior to take back to where he belongs.

Feeling a shift in power sensing someone near her. Snapping her head up looking into the darkness with her sapphire ice blue eyes casting an erie glow about her. "Looks like someone has taken notice." The figure from the bushes stood infront of her along with him another.

The man had striking gold eyes casting a glow about them staring at her intently through the confines of the darkness. Taking her hand in his and lifted it up to his eye level. She droped her conceling spell off her hand, her hand grew black talons for her slender hands not too long but not short.

On her wrist were two black stripes on the left side of her wrist. He lifted her wrist to his mouth and bit into it tasting the sweet crimson blood just under the surface. 'She has so much power, the half-breed has no clue to the extent to her powers, but why does she seem so fimilar.' Unlatching his fangs from her wrist he licked and sucked her wrist clean.

Before stepping away he eyed her then his companion once more then to her and left. Putting her conceling back on. 'I wonder if he remembers? All well I'll always be with him he needs somoeone to take him back..'

Looking around in the darkness again, looking for the half-demon half -human boy she spotted his form in the treeline. "Finally, took him long enough." Groping around he found the bridge without her help for her amusment she easily found that he was pissed. 'Like always.' She thought.

"May I help you?" she asked. He growled or tried to anyways. He wasn't very.....hmmm.... intimidating, but he never was in the first place. He had his black hair stuck to his face and his fire-rat hamaks and haori were soaked and clung to his body frame.

"Why the hell are you out in this rain and in the dark of night you know I can't protect your scrawny ass when it's the new moon!" He yelled. "Hmm.... must have slipped my mind." She said with a smile on her face that he couldn't see, she was ticking him off. 'It just might work this time.' she thought.

"You know I can take care of my self right? I am older than you." She told him. "Kagome you are 21 not 256 years old! or can't you count. Looks like I was right Kikyo is way better choice than you. I don't know why everyone thinks that your her reincarnation. You look nothing alike and she is a much better miko than you will ever be." 'I was never one to begin with dumbass.' she thought.

She said with hidden humor in her voice. Him to dumb to catch it. "She said you would say that." "She can't join the group, she was the one who took that whole chunk from us and gave it to Naraku."

'This is working out nicely just a bit more.' "She had to give the shards to him so he could trust her." "Uh-huh.....then why did he try to kill her and I ended up saving her oh so 'powerful' ass." I stated, smiling. 'I caught him there.' "Wench don't test me." "Who said that I was testing you, I was clearly stating what was true. I won't allow it, she is not joining the group while I'm there." Said Kagome.'I got him. Hello home, good-bye jewel.'

"Well.....you get your 'wish' you won't have to worry about Kikyo any more for you won't be around to care." She saw him smirk with his head tilted downward you couldn't see his eyes. He walked closer to her a slow step at a time.

'Time to act innocent.' She thought with a smile. "Inuyasha..... wh-aattt are you do-ingggg." Kagome said in a scared tone. "I'm doing what I should've done a long time ago." He said as he got even more closer to where they were touching. He placed his left hand onto her shoulder and his other on her hip, pulling her to him. 'What the hell is he thinking!?!?' He slid his hand from her shoulder to the back of her neck . Fiddling with the clasp of the chain, that held the shards. They couldn't hear the low growl emainating from a certain youkai in the distant tree line.

Then in the next instant he shoved her off the bridge, all the while yanking the chain off her. At the last second he grabbed her wrist before she hit the water. Lifting her up by the arm Inuyasha lowered his head to her ear his breath on her neck. He said in a husked voice. "Good-bye Kagome."

He then dropped her from his grip letting her fall into the cold ocean waters. He left after watching her form sink into the waters never reaching the surface to prove that she was alive. The watcher from the shadows came to the bridge once again and looked down to the harsh cruel waters below his feet.

"Maybe things were not meant to be." Said his companion. "No... where would be the fun in that." "You mean she's still alive?" "Yes. This is what she intended. Now she is free of the bastard, and tomarrow we will see my 'Dear younger half-brother'." "Things are getting more intersting by the minute. Wouldn't you say Sesshomaru?" "Indeed Kenshin......indeed." They left the bridge with that statement.
