Battle wounds

"Kagome!"Inuyasha called worriedly over the smoke of burnt youkai flesh and miasma covering the battle field. They'd fought hard that day. A great dragon demon had attacked them sensing Kagome's jewel shards as they were headed to Kaedes' village to join the rest of their mis-matched group.

Then one of Nerakus' puppets had shown up looking for a battle. It was then that he'd lost track of Kagome. //Damn it! Where is she? Oh kami please let her be alright.//

Suddenly he heard a faint whimpering coming from his left;it was faint,but his hanyo ears picked it up on the wind. He rushed in the direction of the noise,searching for her. His eyes caught hold of something shiny;a small glass vile with something pink within. //The jewel shards!// he realized while rushing towards it. There lay Kagome,wounded and fading. He rushed to her side as he caught the scent of her blood,thick in the air around them. A lot of blood actually, and after giving her a quick scan saw the source.

She had a deep gash in her stomach. "I-Inuyasha?" she called in a weak, strained voice. "Shh...hai Kagome, it's me. What happened to you?" he replied in a soft cooing voice. "Gomen Inuyasha, I screwed up. I wasn't strong enough." She answered,

tears welling in her eyes as she gave a weak smile. "Hush Kagome, don't you talk like that. You fought very bravely out there" he soothed. //Damn that Neraku!// his mind screamed. "I'm gonna die here aren't I?" "No Kagome, I wont let you. And don't you ever talk like that again!"he chided, trying to hide his worry.

She'd lost a lot of blood,and wouldn't ,make it much longer without more to replace it. Suddenly, Inuyasha remembered something his mother had taught him about in his brief years of schooling. //What did she call it? A transfusion?..// "Kagome I'm not going to lie to you; your pretty banged up.

You've lost a lot of blood, and need to replace it...fast. I'm going to give you some of mine to sustain you." "But Inuyasha, how will that help? Transfusions' don't work that way." she questioned. "They do with youkai, just trust me ok?" he pleaded. Using his sharp claws,he cut open his left hand, letting the blood gush out of it. Then pressed it tightly again the gash in her,

making a tight seal and holding his arm straight above her so his blood would flow down into the dying girl. Thought Kagome found this method very unorthodox , she watched silently grateful of his attempt in saving her.

Inuyasha explained "there's nothing to worry about Kagome,being miko your body will purify my youkai blood, and adapt my ningen blood as your own." Inuyasha felt a strange pull on the wound in his hand,and could've sworn he felt both their hearts beat as one for a second.

At that moment the jewel shards around Kagomes' neck gave off a soft pink glow,and pulsed in time with her heart beat.

Inuyasha jerked his hand away in pain, and shock. It was burned!

The cut on his hand was cauterized shut, healing before his eyes from his youkai blood.

Kagome felt a gentle heat, and tingling in her stomach as her her pain ebbed away. "I-Inuyasha,...I...I feel funny." she commented softly. Inuyasha watched amazed as the wound in her stomach healed;closing up before her eyes.

Suddenly a bright light shot out from Kagome,blinding the pair in its brilliance. As it faded,and Inuyasha regained his vision the sight before him blew his mind away,and needless to say,confused the hell out of him.
