Locked Away

So I got a review that I did not like, not at all. I ended up deleting the story because apparently it is some kind of crime to edit the story and leave the other chapters up so that I could use them as a guide for my new ones.

Yeah, I am so sorry about that. Oh, and yes I have a lot of spelling mistakes and typos in the old chapters, that is one of the reasons why I am EDITING them. Wow, weird concept.

Anyway, enjoy this, not sure if I will update any time soon.

WARNING: Nothing, just editing.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Inuyasha, and I do not own the plot for the movie "The Man In The Iron Mask" which inspired this story.

Jealousy is something that can consume even the most loving and wonderful person. It can cause great men, and women, to act like the most selfish being in the world

Humans become jealous, sometimes so jealous that they will take away from someone the most precious thing that they have.

Their life.

Tonight was a beautiful night. The moon was full, glowing brightly as the stars followed suit. It looked so warm and welcoming, like a loving embrace that anyone would fight tooth and nail to be in. I loved nights like these, they made me fill myself with hope, that maybe one day I could be outside on a night like this, instead of in the is place, laying on the dirty floor like an animal that no one cares about.

I have been here since I was seven, having been taken from my home. I remember that day, how I was out playing with my little brother. We were playing tag, and it was his turn to be it. We loved playing that game so much, always ending up on the ground laughing. He was trying to catch and when we saw them, guards from the castle. We had only seen them a few times before, but they never stopped, they just went on their way like we were not even there. But, this time, they were heading straight for me and my brother. I told him to hurry up and get inside, that he should tell mama and papa that they were here. He did as he was told, and the next thing I knew they had gotten off of their horses, about three of them, and they grabbed me. My father came out and demanded that they let me go, but they said that they had orders to take me, and they did.

I have not seen or heard from my family since that day. I saw my father being hit by the guard that he had been talking to before. Apparently he had tried to stop them from taking me, but there was no use, he was not strong enough to defeat them all. I was throw in this cell and left to rot. I am fed, but not very well, always feeling hungry and never satisfied. There are no windows, just a small hole in the ceiling that I use to watch the sky. During the day it is my only source of light, and the only reason that my skin is not as white as the snow that periodically falls.

"At least it is warm this time of year," I thought to myself, the only person that I have to talk to.

It is true that guards are always down here, but I cannot speak. When they brought me here, the first thing they did was bring in an iron mask. I had no idea what it was for, not until they forced my face into it. I struggled to get out of it, but once it was locked, there was no use. I did manage to get free, though it did me little good, I did end up breaking on of the guards' ribs. It took many weeks to get use to the extra weight, and as I got use to it, it became more apparent that I would never be able to actually talk with it on. So since that day I have not spoken a word out loud, just in my head where only I could listen.

I sighed as I walked back to my straw bed in the back corner of the cell. It was the driest spot that I could find, not wanting to get sick all of the time from being wet. It rained quite a bit, though lately it has been letting up, making me happy that I could go a few nights in a row without waking up wet. Most of the time I do not even want to wake up, I want to stay in my dreams where I have my family back, and me and my little brother are playing tag again, rolling on the ground laughing at our fun.

"I miss them so much,"

It was late in the afternoon, the sun beginning to set as a group of people entered a house on the outside of a small village. The house seemed old, but inviting, as the strangers made their way inside. They had somber looks on their faces, like a horrid fate had just been placed upon them.

"We cannot let this happen, she has no right to live, let alone rule over a kingdom!" a girl cried out as she sat down at a table.

She was obviously upset, having to hold back angry tears.

"You best calm yourself, for you know that there is nothing that we can do. She is the rightful heir, and the kingdom is hers to do with as she pleases,"

At this the girl stood up, her fists balled as the tears came closer to falling. She looked like she wanted to main something, and probably would if she had gotten the chance.

"You know that is not true, Miroku. You know very well that she was not the one meant to rule this kingdom, it was a mistake," she said in a strained voice, trying not to yell at the man standing across from her.

"Of course I know, we all know, but there is nothing that we can do to stop her from taking her place at the thrown," the man, Miroku, said as he sat down and began to rub his temples.

Another man walked to the table, a small smile on his face, one that showed he had something up his sleeve.

"Then it is a good thing that we have a plan, now isn't it?" he said, the smug look still in place as he walked around to stand by Sango.

"And what plan might that be?" Miroku asked, his hands still holding his head up, the rubbing not ceasing

"Its simple, we just go and bust her out of there. We go in, get her, and then get out. Nothing to it,"

Miroku wanted to die at that point, this would not be a simple plan, actually it would a be a very dangerous and rather stupid plan. But, of course, they would do it anyway, because that it just the kind of people that they are, no matter how hard he tried to deny it.

"It will not be that simple. There are going to be guards left and right, all there because she is there and Kikyou does not want her out,"

"We can do it, I mean, we can fight our way through with no problem. We've done it before,"

"Yes, Inuyasha, we have. But must I remind you how many years that it has been since that incident?" he asked, wanting to know how hard they really thought this plan through.

He was always the one to have to think things through, the others just went with whatever they felt like at the time. He did not mind it though, not too much at least, it is what made them such a great team.

"I know how long it has been Miroku, and I also know that we can handle this. Just trust us and let us do our jobs,"

"Fine, do what you must. Lets us right this wrong and free that poor girl," he finally said with a sigh, not sure if what he said is what he really believed.

Inuyasha gave a short nod before walking to the door. Before he could get open the door Sango stopped him.

"Are you are that you can do this, Inuyasha? I know how much you loved her,"

"Of course I can. That is all in the past, now all I care about is dethroning that nasty little bitch. She does not deserve what she has, and I will be the one to take it away from her,"

He spoke like he meant it, and if Sango did not know him better, she would have believed it. She knew that he would do what he said that he would, but she also knew that this was killing him on the inside. Without saying anything else Inuyasha left into the dark.

"I hope this works, for everyone,"

A beautiful figure stood before a group of women, all admiring the woman in her new dress as she twirled in front of a grand mirror. Her long, black hair flowed down her back like waves of satin. Her skin was perfect, as well as the rest of her. It was easy to tell that she was royalty with the way that she looked, and the way that she carried herself.

"I cannot wear this piece of crap!" the beautiful figure yelled, now glaring at the other women in the room.

Her face was set with a frown, something that she did quite often, never satisfied with what she had. She always wanted something better, and when she got it, it was still not good enough for her. She settled, but always made a fuss about it, her people never appreciating her enough to give her a few simple things that she wants.

"Kikyou, there is nothing wrong with that dress. It looks beautiful on you," her mother tried to reason, but this of course was not a good idea, because Kikyou had no problem yelling at her mother.

"The dress is hideous, and the fabric is not good enough to sit on my beautiful skin. Find me something better!"

Her mother sighed, but instead of fighting she just nodded her head, knowing when to give up. Kikyou had always been this way, ever since she was a child. If she did not get exactly what she wanted, she threw a fit and threatened people. She would do whatever she could to get what she wanted, and sometimes she took it too far. Sometimes she was so selfish that she ruined peoples lives for things that had no real meaning, and no mother wanted their child to act that way.

"Answer me with words, and call me your highness," was what Kikyou told her mother, the woman that brought her life and kept her safe for so many years.

"Yes, your highness," was the hardest thing that she ever had to say, when it was to her own daughter.

"Good, now I am going to have a little fun. When I come back, I expect this mess to be cleaned up and for a new dress to be on my bed waiting for me,"

And with that said, Kikyou made her way outside of the room and to another. She had been expecting a very important guest, one that she could not wait to see.

"Ah, Naraku. There you are," Kikyou said as she approached the man she had been waiting for.

He was somewhat tall with long, wavy black hair, and a smile that spoke of sinister things. He did not appear to be someone that knew the meaning of the word no.

"Kikyou, how have you been?" he asked, his voice low.

"Bored, but I think you can fix that," she said before taking him by the hand.

Without another word the two disappeared into a room at the top of stairs.

The next morning, outside of a small house, you could find Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku finalizing their plans for the day.

"Is everything ready?" Miroku asked, wanting to make sure that nothing was forgotten, as Inuyasha was not the best at remembering things.

"Yes, we have everything that we need. We even brought extra weapons just incase something happens and we end up needing them," Inuyasha answered.

Sango was loading the last of her weapons into the boat, wanting to make sure that she did not forget anything that she would need.

"Then I suppose now is the time to leave, the sooner the better as they say," Miroku said before walking to the boat.

They would travel by water, since that was the only way to get into the prison. It would only be a few hours each way, and if they played everything right, they would be back before nightfall and could start on their real plan.
