~*~* Rin has not been introduced to Sesshoumaru. (She has a family still.) The raid happens the same night this occurs. Kouga has fallen in love with Kagome... but only wants one thing (powerful heirs). Shippou, that tricky little cutie pie, is already viewed as a son. *~*~

Chapter 1: Merged Souls

"Haha, tell me a story." She didn't want her mother to leave. She had a bad feeling about tonight. Something more than horrible was going to happen, and it didn't have anything to do with the cruel children in the village. Her mother on the other hand thought that her daughter's weird mood had stemmed directly from them. She cursed her judgmental town as she sat next to her daughter on the hay and used their only blanket to cover them both.

Rin, her daughter, curled into her lap almost cat like. Karen had trouble thinking up a good story so while she pondered she slowly went up and down her daughters back with her fingers.

~*~*~*~*~The main characters in a battle with Sesshoumaru ~*~*~*~*~

"Get out of here. I can handle anything this asshole can throw at me!" Sesshoumaru's whip came back around and sliced threw his right arm, his sword fell. Janken laughed, the bull headed, insolent hanyou couldn't even stay true to his brag. Shippou growled and went after Sesshoumaru's retainer. Kagome had to follow to make sure her little pup was out of harms way.

Sango and Miroku attempted to help out Inuyasha but any sign of joining and the hanyou would yell and get hit for his distraction more harm than help. So they stayed off to the side and watched with slight amusement the scene of Shippou and Kagome chasing the toad-looking demon around.

Inuyasha regained his stance, embarrassed for his slip up and for dropping his sword in the first place. He redirected his fury on the distractions. He looked down dodging his brother's blow. Inuyasha was lucky that he was only playing with him... He found what he was looking for and kicked it hard. It flew through the air only instead of hitting its original target the rock smacked Kagome right in her temple.

Sesshoumaru found this battle fun and wanted to continue but Inuyasha was not paying attention to the right person. Him. The blows were lazy and easy to dodge, and the last blow missed because he was more concentrated on the fact that the human shard detector was stumbling toward them. Sesshoumaru was getting frustrated now. No longer feeling joy in this game. He'd end it.

Sesshoumaru stabbed forward thrusting his sword forward as a diversion and using his other arm for the fatal whip to slice downward to his leg. The whip went threw the thigh and muscle cutting the huge chunk of flesh out and off. He pulled it back not realizing what was behind him.

~*~*~*~*~Rin and mother Karen~*~*~*~*~

"Once, a long time ago, a very old women told me a very old story. She spoke of twin girls and a jewel that was cursed to be mind rotting. The two girls were meant to protect the jewel from driving any future demon or person alike from corruption... What went wrong in the birth killed any hope of the jewel being saved.

Twins to save the other from temptation and loneliness. The womb the two sprits entered had a little problem, one of the twins. The younger of the two, Kagome, died. The baby spirit had no other place to go but to her sisters body. Their powers combined but once the baby with two souls emerged, conflicting feelings and thoughts came about. Kikyou, was troubled from the beginning till the end.

A half demon came along, and stole Kikyou's heart. They fell in love out of mutual loneliness and confliction. Only, the Kagome side of her fought his love. She was destined for another. Kikyou's kindness killed her. For she cared for a burnt man who had other plans. Kagome would coward away from such an evil man. This appealed to Kikyou. For every time this man came around... she was only herself for Kagome stayed quit with fear. Kikyou started to question her love of Inuyasha.

She would make excuses to go the man in the hill just to feel a little more like her. Inuyasha was her love, and the distance and questioned love tore them into a distant love and cherishment.

Inuyasha tried to steal the jewel and almost killed Kikyou in the process. For she had promised a life together if only he wished to be human. The promise passed, she pinned him to a tree and she died. Taking the jewel with her body."

~*~*~*~*~The Battle~*~*~*~*~

Sango shot up, Miroku ran forward. Shippou screamed and grabbed Kagome's limp hand... The whip had come back and sliced the very front of her neck. The Green poison and blood oozed from the wound. Her gray-blue eyes fluttered and her ruby-pink lips smiled. "Don't cry for me." And the spark of life died.

The world went still and Kagome lifted from her body. The silvery mist came forward and straight to Sesshoumaru as if drawn. Her form came through and she looked right into his eyes. Sesshoumaru was the only one to see her. She lifted her silvery glowing hand and gently grazed his cheek.

~*~*~*~*~Rin and Karen~*~*~*~*~

"It is said that the sisters could never again separate completely. Unless, both of their loneliness was completely satiated." Rin's eyes were closed so she tried to slip away without awakening her.

"Haha, did they ever get happy?" Karen smiled and nodded a yes. "All stories have happy endings. I'll finish this one tomorrow. Goodnight Rin."

"Good night, Haha."

~*~*~*~*~Sesshoumaru~*~*~*~*~

Guilt? Sadness? Mourning? What was this feeling he felt because he killed this girl in front of him... what was this feeling... Out of the corner of his eye he saw Inuyasha, raise his sword. He knew what was happening, the wind-scar. Sesshoumaru had no time to react. This spirit had tricked him into this.

His sword surrounded him and Kagomes' mist tried to join him in safety. She reached forward while parts of her were eroding away. She hadn't meant this and Sesshoumaru could see that in her eyes. He Reached out for her to grab him. His arm leaving the protection bubble and severing at the elbow before his eyes, that wasn't his worry. Where did that spirit go?

Once the dust cleared, Sesshoumaru was gone. Inuyasha walked over to his friends limping from the hunk of flesh and poison in his blood. Shippou started to panic. Miroku turned to Inuyasha. "Maybe the future took her." His voice was low and pain ridden. Sango just kneeled and cried.

~*~*~*~*~Rin~*~*~*~*~

"Rin," her mother urged her awake. "Run as fast as you can to that spot I showed you in the woods." Before Rin knew it her legs were running themselves and her mother was gone. She heard barking and screams; fire was all around her. How could this happen?

A man was in the clearing everything she heard forgotten for that moment of time. He was surrounded by silvery mist, she ran her hands through it and could have sworn she heard laughter. The man was hurt, well whatever he was... he was hurt. 'Maybe he's that angel mom said I had... that's why this happened. He got hurt, and now if I fix him, he'll fix mom and the village.'

The stream wasn't that far, so she walked and used her hands to catch the fish, a flat rock to put it on, and some healing herbs that she seemed to just know because the mist followed and told her. Rin went back and the angel was awake.

Nervously, but determined she placed the food in front of him. The mist twirled around him and then around the girl. Sesshoumaru knew the mist, but not the human. He would have shooed her but he could smell blood. Nearby too, and even some of her own; besides the mist liked her. Even if he tried to talk, he couldn't.

~*~*~*~*~The village~*~*~*~*~

"Smell that." He got down on all fours. "MMMM, I like that. Should we tell boss?" They looked at each other. Laughing. "lets come back tomorrow... We'll get her while they concentrate on the rest of the weak."

Someone peeked there head "Lets get out of here. The men are starting to fight back."

~*~*~*~*~Inuyasha~*~*~*~*~

"I'm going to find her body, meanwhile you three go to Keade and have her find a way to revive her." Inuyasha took off running before they could even argue. Not that they were even in the proper condition to. Miroku was ponder how the revive her himself and Sango and Shippou were cuddled together in a fit full of tears. Kirara was purring and rubbing against them both.

Do you think that ones all right? I know, characters slightly off. I redid the plot but it's all to stem off into what my story will be. Yes Kagome is dead. No tricks to the trade, nothing... but just you wait, oooh, just you wait.
