Remembering Nozomi

Kagome looked out her window and whipped her face clean of tears.

She looked at the picture of her and Inuyasha then she took a deep breath. No more tears she told herself, only the resolve of revenge. Then there was a knock at the door.

“Go away!” she said hoarsely.

“Kagome.” He mother said in a pleading voice. “You have to eat something.” She tried to turn the door knob but Kagomes had locked it.

She looked at the picture again and there was Sesshoumaru lurking in the back round, he was almost invisible but you could see the slight shimmer around him where the spell bent the light. Kagome traced a finger over the shimmering line. Why did this have to happen? She asked herself again. She put the picture down and left her room. It was later then she thought, she realized as she rummaged for something to eat. Once she ate she went back to her room with out so much as a word to anyone.

She flopped on her bed and pushed open on her CD player. She took out what was in there and put in her Meatloaf love mix. She pushed play, turned it up as far as her mother let her and let the music drowned her. She dove into her homework as she sang along. Finally she went to bed and dreamt.

~Dream~

Kagome stood on the sidelines and watched as Inuyasha took a swing at Sesshoumaru.

“Stop it!” She finely screamed after a moment. “Just stop.” She said more quietly as the pair looked at her. Sesshoumaru lowered his sword and watched his younger brother.

“Kagome he tried to kidnap you!” Inuyasha yelled at her. “What are you thinking?” Kagomes eyes started to well with tears, never had she been so torn. Sesshoumaru slipped his sword into his belt making Inuyasha tense.

Then Kagome started to sob. Inuyasha lowered his sword and looked at Sesshoumaru then blinked, Sesshoumaru just watched her his jaw set. Kagome dropped to her knees.

“Please just stop fighting.” She sobbed. She looked up at them.

“Kagome.” Sesshoumaru said quietly. He looked at Sesshoumaru again, who was standing stock-still. “Now’s the time Kagome.” He said under his breath,

“I cant do this anymore.” She muttered, she had discovered in dreams what had made her separation from Kikyous soul so easy, in her last life she was a demon. She looked at Inuyasha, ad it so happened she was Sesshoumarus mate.

“Now Kagome,” he said louder. “Now or not at all.” There was harshness in his voice that made Kagome flinch

“I” she paused as the words stuck in her craw. “I can’t.” Inuyasha’s nerves snapped.

“You said that already!” Kagome shrunk away from them.

“I can’t do this.” She cried.

“Do what?” Inuyasha screamed.

“Be with you.” She said quietly. Sesshoumaru still didn’t move but Inuyasha seemed to just dissolve.

“What?” he took a step toward her.

“I’m sorry.” She stood. “I love you but I cant.” She looked at Sesshoumaru.

“Why?” he asked harshly.

“Because I promised your brother and I love him.” Sesshoumaru turned away then looked back.

“You have professed love for another,” his voice was rough. “the contract is broken.” He said quietly as he started to walk away.

“but Sesshoumaru?” she asked desperately.

“No.” he said harshly. “travel with my brother, do as you will.” He glanced back. “what ever that might be.” He turned away again and started to walk.

“No,” Kagome said quietly.

“Trouble me no more.” Then he was gone.

“Don’t go.” Her voice seemed broken as she buried her face in her hands. Inuyasha just stood there.

The dream ended and Kagome sat bold up right. The dream had haunted her for weeks. She bent over and started to cry. It hadn’t happened yet but it would and what was she going to do when it did? She hadn’t been back since she first had the dream and she couldn’t stand it anymore better to go and get it over with.

She looked out the window she had actually slept till morning for the first time in 3 days

Kagome got up, did her morning routine and left for school. Once she was there nothing got done, all she could do was remember.

~flash back~

“Sesshoumaru!” she yelled as she flung herself at him, nearly tripping over her skirt. He wrapped his arms around her as she pressed her face into the soft fluffy thing on his shoulder.

“Nozomi” he whispered her name softly “I’m home.” he breathed to himself. He pulled away from her and brushed a lock of raven hued hair away from her face. “But you wont be for long, ‘the wives’ have requested your presence.” she frowned and placed a hand on her swollen belly. “They want to be with you when their born.” Nozomi furrowed her brow.

“But I want you to be there.” she said quietly knowing that the wives wouldn’t allow him to be present.

“If your worried for their safety all of the wives will be there along with the maids.” he pulled her close. “All of my allies will be with you, you will never be alone.”

THWACK!

Kagome snapped to attention and looked around seeing her teacher staring at her. She looked at her desk to see a ruler resting on it, she looked back at the teacher.

“Pay attention Higarashi, your far enough behind as it is.” The woman said softly as she turned away.
