1. Announcement

It was a nice bright sunny day. Kagome was doing her usual daily miko training along with her sister Kikyo and Keade-sensei out on the open field.

Kagome tensed when she felt a small tickling sensation that told of something or someone coming but relaxed when she felt no threat from the auras.

"Demons are nearing," stated Kikyo and changed to her battle stance if necessary.

"Very good, Kikyo. They carry the royal banners. They meant no harm. Relax child," Said Keade. "Kagome child go alert the tower man."

"Yes Keade-sensei," said Kagome as she bowed, excitement shined from her eyes and ran towards the watch tower.

Keade shook her head as Kagome dash away. She is a year younger than the nineteen year old Kikyo. It's a wonder how different the sisters are. Kagome is like an exuberant being boundless of energy and happiness though at times she can be as serious and sharp as her sister. Well many would think that the elder of the sister is more powerful but those who have strong spiritual powers such as Keade can sense the immense powers lying dormant within Kagome, but even she could barely sense the bright wave radiating from Kagome and to do that she would have to open her third eye which takes enormous effort.

Ah...Kagome and Kikyo...both daughters of the single hardworking mother. It was indeed a surprise when she, a commoner, gave birth to two children, both with innate spiritual powers.

More and more people begin to gather next to Keade-sama, the leader of the village.

Kagome watched wide eye as she saw the demons with the royal flag. This is only the second time she saw someone from royalty coming to their village. The other time was when she was eight years old. This time it seemed to be important as she saw three messengers all wearing different but still beautiful outfits representing their lords.

"GOOD EVENING FRIENDS FROM THE WIND VILLAGE. WE ARE HERE ON BEHALF OF THE EASTERN, SOUTHERN, AND WESTERN LORDS," boom the tiger demon in the middle. "IT HAS BEEN DECIDED BY THE ELDERS THAT THE TIME HAS COME FOR PRINCE KOUGA, PRINCE MIROKU, PRINCE INU YASHA, AND PRINCE SESSHOUMARU TO BE MATED BY THE NEXT HALF MOON. ALL MAIDENS ARE INVITED TO BE TESTED AND SELECTED AS FEASIBLE CANDIDATES AND WILL MEET IN SLEEPYWOOD THREE DAYS FROM TODAY." All three demons bow and then left.

Excited giggles racked the crowd.

"Omg! We are so lucky to be in this generation!" said a girl.

"I heard they're all cuties!"

"Who's Inu Yasha?"

"Prince Miroku is supposed to be really charming!"

"No Lord Sesshoumaru is!"

"He is a diabolic person, heard he slaughtered a whole army."

"But that was an enemy!"

"There was a rumor that Lord Sesshoumaru saved a human girl! Maybe he might even consider us!"

"Awww..I wish I wasn't married yet."

"Mommieeee, what does mate mean?"

Kagome sighed. The chance of being picked is less than 1%. As if they will pick humans for a mate. pffffft. Well, maybe Lord Miroku will. Well, that was some exciting news. Kagome smiled at the animated crowd and went back to her mediation.

Swirls of bright pink light danced around Kagome as sat criss-crossed, eyes closed. She let her whole body and mind relax concentrating on willing her miko powers to conform to any shape she wished. Those with normal eyes would only see her sitting quietly on the mat with a serene expression, but those with the chakra eye would see a blindingly bright pink light surrounding the ethereal being, the light would one minute morph into floating balls and the next morphed

into deadly weapons sharper than any needles.

A white clad young inu youkai stood regally looking at the setting sun on his castle balcony. His expression seems calm but if one looks closer his eyes is like the raging sun it really is. Why would a mate be necessary? This Sesshoumaru has done perfectly fine without one. Father is right about an heir and image but this Sesshoumaru have no intention of meeting the underworld guards and my lifespan is longer than most mortals. A mate would be a waste of time and-

"FATHER! This is friggin outrageous!," yelled Inu Yasha as he pound at the iron door to his father's study. "I DON'T WANT A MATE! WHY SO FAST?! HOW COME I CAN'T WAIT FOR ANOTHER CENTURY?! ITS NOT FAIR SESSHOUMARU GETS TO-

Inu Yasha flew in. Sesshoumaru walked past Inu Yasha to get into the Lord of the Western Land's office.

"Welcome sons. I had just wanted to talk to both of you. As you know Sesshoumaru has enough knowledge and is of age to take over the Western lands. Inu Yasha is already capable of guarding the lands. So what is left now is taking a mate and securing your places....and I can finally retire," Lord Inu Tashio said.

"Why does Miroku and the mangy wolf have to choose a mate at the same time anyway?" huffed Inu Yasha crossing his arms.

The lord chuckled. "It is quite a coincidence that all of you happens to be of adequate age... and calling a gathering once in a century is easier than calling one every half moon. Demons and humans....both brothers frowned at this word...alike from across the lands will gather at sleepywood for the initial picking. Those who are accepted are then moved to take three different tests. The females will eventually be narrowed down for your own personal pickings. Do not be concerned with picking the same girl as that rarely happens. If that does....lets just hope it doesn't happen."
