A.N. Upon Rin's suggestion, I am going to put a warning on this story. It deals with life, death, Heaven and Hell. Be warned now, it might offend some of you out there that might be overly religious. Though, if you read my shit, I would start questioning you. Not overly anguish. Just hard decisions. I dedicate this to anyone who would do anything for the one they love. Enjoy! Tell me what you all think.
Summary: Kagome learns her bother is dying of cancer. He only has a couple of weeks to live. Desperate, she turns to a source that will give her the one wish she seeks. Even if it is at a great price.
Heaven beside you, hell within
Alice In Chains, Heaven Beside You
"Why!" Kagome screamed. She picked up an old ancient vase and threw it against a pastel blue wall. The delicate glass shattered, covering the surrounding floor with various sized shards. "Why are you doing this to me!?!"
Collapsing to the dark hardwood floor, Kagome curled up in a ball and sobbed. Her petite form shook as she relived why her life had taken such an awful turn.
Her bother, the only living relative in her family, is dying of Leukemia.
It just wasn't fair. First her grandfather, which she could live with, died of old age. It hurt, but that was a natural order to life. Then her mother. That event was very painful. They couldn't even have an open casket. The semi that struck her car badly decapitated her. So, that left Kagome, at a tender age of twenty-one, guardian of her fifteen year old brother. Life was hard for them. The new responsibility left her short on the social part of life, so finding a husband or boyfriend was out of the question, but she didn't mind. At least they had each other.
For the last five years, Kagome finished college and Souta was getting ready to start. Just as things appeared to be looking up, disaster strikes again. After showing signs of enema and other questionable health problems, she took her brother to a doctor. Unfortunately, the blood tests they took came back positive for leukemia. The worst kind to have.
It was so far along, that radiation wouldn't do much good.
When Kagome asked what could be done, all she received as a 'make peace and enjoy the time you have left together.' What kind of answer is that? Was that the doctor's idea of a sick joke? How can you enjoy one's time when you know they are going to die?
"AHHH!" Fists pounded the floor as Kagome screamed her frustrations out. She had no outlet. All this pain, anger, and self loathing...it just wouldn't stop coming.
Really, Kagome knew she was just wasting precious time. Time that couldn't be spared. Each minute away from her beloved younger sibling is one minute less before he dies. It is inevitable. The past three days were wasted on phone calls and internet searches, all pulling up nothing. It just wasn't right! What has she done so bad in life?
"Tell me!" She demanded, staring at the ceiling with blood shot blue orbs. The light filtered through the blinds, sparkling off the wet trails running down her flushed cheeks.
Deep inside of her, Kagome knew it wasn't right to question God. At least that is what they told her in Sunday school. They say things of this nature happens for a reason. To question is a sin. He is the greater good and knows the balance of things.
"Yeah, right," she muttered to herself.
If God truly had control over things, then no one would starve, suffer, get sick, be raped or murdered. There wouldn't be puzzling questions about what life meant and everything would be crystal clear. No one would go through emotional hell...
Perhaps she is being punished. Yes, punished for not going to church. Wasn't it enough to just believe in him? Was it not enough for her to be a good person, help others?
No...that isn't right.
God is supposed to be loving and forgiving. Patient and understanding...right? Maybe she shouldn't have gone the way of Christianity. Who said it was the right religion, anyway? It could be Buddhism or Hinduism. No, maybe some little tribe down in the rain forest has the right belief.
Sighing, Kagome pulled herself from the floor and dragged tired legs to the broom closet. Souta is out with his best friend. Coming home to this mess wouldn't fair well. After she cleaned the broken glass up, she started dinner, making sure to cook his favorite.
Sitting down and eating dinner had been a hard affair on her. A fake smile plastered on her exhausted face proved to be difficult. Gazing upon the young man made her envy him. It seemed he made peace with the fact of dying,... or he was in denial.
"Hey, Sis," Souta peered up at Kagome. The pained look in his deep chocolate eyes spoke of his knowledge and acceptance of his soon-to-come passing. No denial there. "You okay?"
"Sure!" Kagome airily replied.
Souta refused to believe that, though. He stared intensely at her, willing the truth out of his pretty sister. He started seeing it when her dark blue orbs glistened with unshed tears and her pouting lip slightly trembled with pent up emotion. Soon a choked sob left her constricted chest.
"No...," she cried, "I'm not okay."
Immediately rising from his seat, Souta rushed to Kagome and tightly embraced her. "Shh..." he soothed, "everything will be okay."
"No it wont!" Kagome gritted out. "Your leaving and its not fair!"
Souta sadly chuckled. "Hey, is my sister being selfish? That's not the Kagome I know. My sister is strong and selfless, always helping others when they need her. That is the Kagome I know."
"I want to be selfish, damn it!" She spit out. "I love you and don't want you to leave me!"
Souta pulled her down to the floor and held her close. He didn't want to die. He is only nineteen, not even fully grown. Life, technically, was just starting for him. The thought of passing away hurt, but there was nothing to be done. "I don't want to leave either, Sis," he sighed. "I don't want to leave either."
That night in bed, Kagome couldn't find the rest she so needed. After staring at the white ceiling for a couple of hours, she shoved the covers aside. No point in laying in bed if you couldn't sleep.
She pulled on some old, worn jeans and a baggy gray sweat shirt to keep the chilly night air at bay. She then grabbed up her keys and slipped on her tennis shoes. Making sure to lock the door, Kagome ran down the stairs and started down the cracked sidewalk.
She glanced at her watch and groaned. 'Midnight.' It seemed she will be having another sleepless night.
Continuing down the path, she remembered a story her mother used to tell her when very small. Mrs. Higurashi loved magic and used to believe in things referring to such. The story she told Kagome spoke of this time. Midnight. A time of in-between. A time of when good and evil ventured out into the night. Always hope for the good. The good will bring you the sunrise. If evil catches you, then darkness will be all you know.
Kagome shivered at the thought of evil. What kind of darkness did her mother mean? If it related to her life as of now, then it has already consumed her.
Her mindless wondering brought her to an old Victorian style church. The beautiful stained glass windows stood out against the dark stones that framed them. The huge doors were trimmed in gold, giving it a bold and commanding appearance.
Kagome noticed the lights still burning inside the grand structure and walked up to the doors. With a hard tug, it opened for her to enter. Her curious eyes were greeted with dozens of benches and a stylish stage. Hanging above the platform hung a large wooden cross with a full size sculpture of Jesus nailed to it. The statue was beautifully done. Painted on blood dripped from his molded wounds, glistening in the soft light as if real.
'Catholic,' she mused, 'Not my religion, but what the hell.'
Kagome paced down the long walkway. She finally reached the front and raised her head, studying the holy figure up close.
"Hello, my child." An elderly, but kind voice spoke out. It echoed out in the empty church, causing her to jump. Seeing her reaction, the priest chuckled. "I didn't mean to startle you, my dear."
"Oh, its okay." Kagome replied.
The old man glanced over her features with a small frown. "You look tired. Why are you out here so late at night?"
Kagome fully turned to the drawn over man and couldn't help but relax in his presence. His silver hair, soft lined skin, and sparkling green eyes gave off an aura of love and devotion. His traditional robes called to what he was, making the priest look as if he stepped out of the early nineteen hundreds.
Realizing the old man still waited for a reply, she allowed a tiny smile to tilt her lips. "I..I just needed to leave my home...for awhile."
"Have a seat," he gestured to one of the unoccupied lengthy benches.
"Thanks." Kagome half-heartedly said.
They both sat, looking up at the cross. The silence wasn't strained. In fact, it felt peaceful sitting were she resided. Finally, Kagome broke her gaze and glanced at the priest. "Umm...I..," she couldn't seem to form what she wanted to say at first. It frustrated her.
"If you don't want to talk, you can just sit here." He kindly offered.
Kagome softly smiled at him and shifted on her seat. "Umm..m-my brother is dying."
The bright light in the priest's eyes seemed to dim some at the morbid news. He reached over and grasped her cool hand, warming it with his. "I am truly sorry, my child."
After a few more silent moments, Kagome started to speak again. "Why?"
The look the elderly man gave Kagome let her know she needed to be more specific in her question. "Why is my brother dying? Why is God taking him away from me?"
The priest sadly sighed. "I cannot answer this question. All I can say is it is part of life. God has designed it this way."
Her eyes misted up until a lonely tear broke free and ran down her cheek. "Does God hate me?" She asked in a strangled voice.
The old man placed a hand on her quivering shoulder. "No child, God loves you."
"Then why is he taking my only family from me?" Kagome sobbed.
He pulled her into a tight hug and patted her head. "Everything happens for a reason. Pray to him and he will give you the guidance you need. Just remember, Heaven is always beside you, my child."
So the night, for the first time in years, Kagome prayed.
A week later and Kagome felt herself fall deeper into depression. Every night she would pray, hoping for a miracle of some sort. She desperately desired the pain in her chest to disappear. It seemed like it constricted so badly that breathing became a chore.
Her bother was getting worse, as well, and didn't seem to have the energy to do anything but rest in bed.
She felt grief so heavy, is seemed to draw insanity. Sometimes, when she sat alone, hysteria would creep up on her. Kagome found herself laughing for no reason. It bothered her....scared her. Souta couldn't see her like this. It would worry him. She wont have that happen.
Kagome also couldn't sleep. If she calculated right, she only slept about three hours last week. Dark bags appeared under her sad eyes and a sickly color adorned her skin.
Kagome had to purchase makeup so she would look halfway normal. Souta need not see this side of her. She wanted his last few days to be peaceful, not full of concern.
As time grew near, Kagome felt herself become numb. After her brother went to sleep, she felt a need to escape again, to temporarily leave the apartment that housed death. This time, Kagome walked past the old church, heading to a deserted park. Peering at her watch again, she noticed it was midnight.
Spotting an empty bench, Kagome sat on it. At first, she just stared off into space. Then her vision started blurring. Tears distorted everything until they left the confines of her sorrowful eyes. Lifting her head back, she rested her gaze upon the moon. It was her favorite. She like the shape it sported...the crescent. So thin it looked as if it would disappear. But even this couldn't bring her the joy she so longed for; the lifting of weight that wouldn't stop suffocating her.
Suddenly, her face scrunched up, showing her pain and anger. "WHY!?!" Kagome cried to the moon, "WHY! I want to know!"
Kagome fell to the soft carpet of grass and started punching it. Pain radiated up her arms, but it was welcomed to the much larger one in her chest. "Please...I will do anything if you let him live. Please..."
No answer. No sign of being heard. Just a cold feeling creeping down her spin. At this, she ceased her tantrum and timidly raised her head. Kagome could feel eyes upon trembling form.
She took in her surroundings, seeing nothing. Another shiver ran over her petite body. The wind, bitter now, blew against the wet trails on her face. It felt as if the air caressed her cheek...
Kagome scooted back, trying to make herself even smaller than she already was. The feeling of being looked upon returned. Again, she franticly scanned the park. 'No one is here,' she chastised herself. Just as she considered that sanity must have fully left her, a low deep voice commanded her attention.
"Anything?"
The sound flowed through her, making the hairs on the back of her neck raise on end. Her body quaked; the feeling sinfully pleasant while exceptionally scary all at once.
The lighter part of her soul screamed at her in fear, but the tiny, darker part, whispered love. It wanted her to embrace the dark presence around her. Even though her goodness was far greater, it is this tiny side of her that won over the blinding pain. The pain of suffering and grief she wanted relief from.
Leaning forward, on her hands and knees, Kagome timidly called out. "W-what?"
"You said you would do anything. Is it true?"
'Is it true?' she asked herself. Would she do anything to save her beloved brother? The only person left of her blood? Would she do anything to ensure he lived a long and loving life? Kagome found it not too difficult to decide. "Yes."
The icy breeze ceased and a beautiful sight materialized before her. Long moon-kissed hair glowed with a light of its own, dark golden eyes blazed with promise of relief, and maroon strips with a blue crescent moon gracing a forehead, formed on flawless porcelain skin. The creature held beauty as if he were an angel. Then Kagome noticed deadly shaped claws gracing his finger tips and glistening fangs peeking out from under thin lips. His clothing sampled the color of black instead of pure white. Yes, an angel...a fallen angel.
Kagome sat back on her knees, momentary stunned by the seemingly untouchable being in front of her. "Who are you?" She whispered.
Though his face stayed calm, stoic, his orbs shined amusement by her softly spoken question. "I have been called many things, but you may call me Sesshoumaru."
Kagome followed his movement as he started walking around her. He acted as if he were stalking her, seeing if she was edible. What ever the creature saw, he assumably liked.
"Beautiful...," he praised. "I haven't seen a human such as you in centuries."
Sesshoumaru has been watching her for a few days now. The pain that seeped from her very pores called to his inner hunger. The small woman is one of the Great Lights. Normally he wouldn't even be able to come near one. They were pure....infallible. This one, though, has fallen from grace. It made it seem all the sweeter to take souls as hers. Adding to his favor, she sported great beauty, as well. The dark raven tresses and porcelain skin called to him. She would be perfect by his side...for all eternity.
"Stand." Sesshoumaru softly commanded.
Kagome rose on shaky knees. Being in his presence enthralled her. She watched as he stepped before her. Tilting her head back, Kagome stared up into his angelic features. Suddenly, she felt a soft, warm caress that caused a tiny whimper to leave her slender throat.
Sesshoumaru allowed a wicked grin to break free. Yes, he had to have this innocent....this Great Light. What a nice soul to dangle in front of the heavens! Of course, she will have her other uses. The texture of her flesh would feel divine next to his...
"I can save your brother." Sesshoumaru simply stated. He actually enjoyed the way her eyes lit up. He would have to be sure she only did that for him. Even the devil needed some light in his darkness.
"Y-you can?" Kagome felt like the world had been lifted off of her damaged heart. Her brother would live!
"Yes, I can." The fingers tips he had settled on her face traced an invisible trail around her jaw, exploring the smooth plains of her neck and shoulder.
Kagome's gentle breathing slightly excelerated. It felt like burning paths were being drawn on her skin. Midnight orbs became heavy and half caste. The steady beat of her heart rose to a higher lever. "Please, she huskily begged, save him."
Sesshoumaru lifted his other hand to join the light teasing. He inhaled deeply, taking in her clean, pure scent, now becoming laced with lust. "I will, he breathed out, for a price."
Kagome fisted her hands to keep from touching the dark god in front of her. Although he frightened her, she felt an overwhelming amount of desire for him. His brushing of her exposed flesh made it incredibly difficult to think. The tiny wild streak wanted the lust. It wanted to feel his lips upon the most hidden parts of her body...
Trying to center her thoughts for coherent thinking, Kagome forced herself to reply. "W-what kind of price?"
Leaning forward, Sesshoumaru allowed his abnormally long tongue to trace the shell of her ear, delighting in her salty-sweet taste and tiny feminine moan. "You."
Brows drawing in slight confusion, Kagome tried to contemplate why he would want her. "Me?"
A deep chuckle left his chest as he wound his long fingers around her slender throat. Sesshoumaru pulled back and captured her gaze. "Yes, you... and your soul for the life of your brother, Kagome."
Eyes widened at hearing her name and request fall from his sexy mouth. 'My...soul!?!' Suddenly, it became clear whom she was dealing with. The darkest of all in the heavens and hell...
The devil himself.
At understanding this, Kagome took a swift step back, breaking the gentle hold he had upon her person. Her body immediately missed the heat he provided. She also noticed the deep snarl that left from his direction. "No." Kagome breathed out.
Sesshoumaru felt white hot anger flash through him. The innocent was stronger than he realized. Soft seduction wont work on her. He will have to be very blunt and put his offer fully on the table. "You want to save your brother, no?"
"yes," Kagome shakily replied, "but at the price of my soul?"
The bark of a laugh caught her off guard. "Little Kagome, I don't just want your precious soul, but your body. You will be by my side, forever the way you are."
Kagome instantly knew what Sesshoumaru referred to. Her youth, health, appearance. "I care not about growing old and dying."
"But you do care if Souta dies." Sesshoumaru circled her again, making her turn in circles to keep him in sight.
"Yes, I do care! I love him!" Kagome spat out.
Sesshoumaru stopped and faced her fully. "Then take my offer."
Kagome still hesitated. If she did this, then he would have her forever. No going back or changing her mind. But the tiny voice in the back of her mind whispered to her, told her at least her brother would live, not suffer anymore.
"I don't know...," she muttered.
The evil grin returned. He still has a chance. Perhaps he should sweeten the pot. "You worry. It is understandable. What will your brother do if you aren't there to care for him? That is of no concern. He will live with a well-to-do family, go to a prestigious college, really do well for himself. All you have to do is surrender yourself to me."
Kagome couldn't believe what she was hearing. "You lie."
"I do deceive, yes, but I can make this happen. You know I can make anything happen." Sesshoumaru pressed. He could taste the victory on his lips. He almost has his queen.
Kagome crossed her arms, feeling a small spark of anger flare to life. "All this for me?"
Sesshoumaru took in her irritation with a raised brow. She is a fiery one. He liked fiery. This mortal was no mere female. Her aura and purity proved such. He had to have her. For the few times in his long existence, Sesshoumaru will do what another desired to gain this rare prize. "Yes," he hissed.
Kagome shifted her gaze form the beautiful dark lord. His offer is good. Is her soul worth it? Is the promise of heaven being lost forever worth giving up so her brother could live? The thought of him dying an awful, slow death, brought the painful compression back to her chest.
Yes, her brother is worth her soul.
Kagome met his golden eyes once more and uttered the one thing he so longed to hear. "I will do it."
Sesshoumaru felt success flow through his body. Finally! He has his queen! Making her desire him, love him, brought him such sadistic pleasure. He extended his hand forward and patiently waited for Kagome to take it. "Come, my queen. It is time to consummate our deal."
Slightly hesitating, Kagome slowly placed her tiny hand in his large one. Long fingers delicately wrapped around the offering and swiftly pulled her to him. She collided with his hard, hot body and surrendered to his sinful embrace.
She watched as the silent night sky and dark green grass faded from her view, being replaced by a candle lit chamber. Kagome took in the black, thick drapes that hung over the window. It blocked whatever view lay behind it. Perhaps that was a good thing. Inspecting the rest of what the room had to offer, she spotted a large bed covered with black silk and soft fluffy pillows. It contrasted nicely with the deep gray stone walls.
'The devil has taste,' Kagome sarcastically thought.
Sesshoumaru stepped back from her and noticed her examination of the surroundings. To his surprise, he hoped it suited her taste. "Is it to your liking, Kagome?"
Kagome turned her attention back to Sesshoumaru and nodded. "Yes, the room is lovely."
"Good," he purred, closing the distance he put between them.
Sesshoumaru cupped her pretty face and lifted it so he could study her soft features. He gazed upon her full lips and inwardly groaned. Earlier, he wished to taste those...to kiss her... he will finally be able to do so.
Moving his face closer to hers, Kagome felt his heated mouth mold to her lips. It was surprisingly gentle. Causing a weak whimper from her. Soon, she started participating, moving against him. Slender arms rose and circled around his neck. A deep groan told her Sesshoumaru approved of the boldness.
Parting his lips, causing her to follow his lead, Sesshoumaru slipped his tongue into her mouth and slowly explored what his new queen had to offer. She tasted divine and he couldn't help but deepen his kiss; try to take more from the petite mortal. He swallowed her tiny moan and began losing himself to powerful lust and desire.
Kagome gasped as she felt strong hands reach under her rounded backside and lift her up. The swift movement aided in making her long, jean clad legs wrap around his narrow waist.
Sesshoumaru pulled back and lewdly ground his large erection against her core. He bestowed upon her a fang filled grin. "Mine...," he inhumanly growled.
Kagome felt pleasure and dirtiness by his actions. Her new soon-to-be lover seemed to know how to push her buttons and wouldn't disappoint her by not pressing them. His possessive declaration both pained and thrilled her. "Yes, yours."
Hearing her soft confession, Sesshoumaru swiftly deposited her on the enormous bed. He quickly disposed both of their clothing. He allowed his eyes to feast upon her pale, flawless skin. A deep hungry growl erupted from his throat in approval of the sight before him, loving the way her skin flushed with excitement and innocent embarrassment.
"Beautiful," he rumbled out.
Reaching forward, he grabbed one of Kagome's soft breasts in one hand and took the other in his mouth. He sucked hard, trying to take as much of it as possible. Every now and then, a sharp fang would scrape above her caramel colored nipple, drawing blood from the shallow scratches.
"Your blood tastes divine, my queen." Sesshoumaru purred, after pulling away to treat the other to the same rough treatment.
Kagome convulsed under his animalistic foreplay. "Mmm...," she moaned,. A deep steady rumble poured from his muscular chest when she took dainty fingers and ran them through his silver locks. She could feel arousal pooling between her slightly parted legs. Sesshoumaru was truly beautiful. His body was as hot as his nature and it felt nice next to her exposed skin. She didn't want to admit it, but Kagome could feast upon his looks alone.
His tongue had to be her favorite part, so far. She watched in morbid delight when he began a long lick from between her breasts, to her neck. The slight drag on her skin made it extend longer, causing her to think of other things he could use it for.
Sesshoumaru began a downward path. He reached Kagome's concave stomach, placing soft kisses and well placed bites in various places. When he would reach a sensitive area, she would arch her back and hiss her delight in his actions. Soon, he neared her small patch of dark curls, breathing in the strong fragrance of sex. The light glistening on the curly hair told how much she enjoyed his ministrations.
"You are very wet, Kagome," he growled, taking a finger and parting her moist folds. "I see you like my touch."
Kagome choked out a cry when she felt him press on her swollen clit. Hot pleasure shot up through her body and almost caused her breath to leave. Never has she been touched in such a manner. Evil he may be, but Sesshoumaru played her body like a well strung instrument.
Sesshoumaru felt her thick wetness and smelled her musky arousal. He couldn't hold off tasting her any longer. "Look at me," he demanded. "I want you to see me lick you until you scream."
Kagome forced her eyes down until they met his and Sesshoumaru made a show of slithering his thin tongue out and running it from her dripping core, to her engorged pearl. "Oh, God!" She screamed.
A dark chuckled left him when he heard her cry. "God wont save you now, my sexy pet."
His only answer was a tiny, tortured whimper and he drove his tongue back into her sweet tasting pussy. Each time he ran over her, more and more of her precious fluid leaked out for him to drink up. As she neared her orgasm, his eyes started bleeding red. A savage roar tore from his throat as he sat up on his knees and brought her core up forcefully to his mouth. With great strength, he thrusted his tongue up inside of her and teased her cervix.
"Oh....YES!!" Kagome screamed as her first orgasm tore through her tense body.
Sesshoumaru could feel her inner muscles clamp down on his tongue and sweet sex juice poured out of her. He quickly lapped it up, enjoying the fluid offered to him. "Now I am going to fuck you good...," he growled out.
Kagome glanced at his large dick dangling between his bent knees. She then locked with his reddened orbs and knew this was going to hurt. He didn't give her much warning as he forcefully brought her down and shoved his hard rod into her tight hole, breaking the barrier that once proved her innocence. The pain caused a small scream to leave her throat and she clenched her watering eyes shut.
Sesshoumaru saw her pain, but paid little heed of it. The tight sheath his long sword was embedded in woke his primal side and he started long hard strokes in her. "So fucking tight! I am going split you in half before I am done with you!"
Kagome could believe it, too. His pounding started out painful. Her breasts violently shook with each thrust. She almost thought the pain would never quit until a tiny amount of pleasure started to develop. Small at first, it soon grew to large proportions. Soon his name was being spilt from her swollen lips. "Faster, my dark lord! Please!"
"I see you like this big evil dick." Sesshoumaru spat out. He grinned wildly when she darkened her already flushed skin. "Tell me!" He bit out. "Tell me you like it!"
"I like your big...evil...dick! Please, fuck me harder...," she panted. Kagome was past caring any longer. The pleasure he induced was too much for her sexually abused body to handle. She could feel her next orgasm coming.
Sesshoumaru could feel the spasms and knew she was close. He took his thumb and rubbed her clit with every slam of his stiff cock. Soon, Kagome screamed, clamping down on his erection. Not being able to hold back, he shot his fiery cum up into her spasming body.
Both exhausted, Sesshoumaru collapsed on top of her sweaty body. It is done, she is now his. No turning back, no denying it. She is now his immortal queen. It proved so when a blue moon appeared on her brow and once dark blue orbs shifted to deep gold.
As Sesshoumaru rolled on to his side, Kagome felt herself being pulled into his embrace. Soon, he fell asleep. Kagome still found sleep avoiding her. For the most part, she knew sleep would always come very little to her. Silent tears ran down her cheeks. The pain in her chest has disappeared, but the guilt will always be there. The guilt of turning her back on God....
A few years later, Kagome stared down into a dark, thick, liquid pool. It provided a way to look into the mortal world. She used it to spy on her brother. Kagome could say she was very proud of him. He used his second chance at life wisely.
He never had a sister, at least one he could remember. His mind erased of the past, Souta lived with a rich family. They spoiled him and made sure he never needed anything. His grades were fantastic. Soon, he got placed in Harvard were he became a doctor. To Kagome's surprise, he specialized in Oncology. But that didn't stop there, Souta soon went into research and came up with new and more effective treatments for cancer. She was very proud of him.
Curious, Kagome asked Sesshoumaru if he was the cause of Souta's success. He told her 'no.' What the young man did with his life, he did on his own. Kagome felt foolish for asking that. Of course the devil wouldn't do something like that. He didn't save others.
When she further thought about it, her sacrifice wasn't just for one person. Because of her, many people now had second chances at life. How ironic. Sometimes, Kagome wondered if it was fate that planted her here. If so, Fate must have a sadistic sense of humor.
Sesshoumaru didn't treat her badly. Kagome was thankful for that. Over time, she even grow a deep sort of love for him. Though, she did cry every time they finished making love. She could only come up with the idea of it being a punishment of sorts. It made her think back to when she talked to the kindly old priest.
"Heaven is always beside you, child." He had said.
Kagome closed her eyes when she felt her dark lord slide arms around her waist. Only one thing popped in her mind at that point. 'And hell is within....'
Rin: If the devil looked like that, I would be a sex toy real easy! LOL
