The Trap

This is a sample of this story. I always love stories when Sesshomaru loses his memory and Kagome comes to the rescue. It's always fun to manipulate the characters. The situations are almost always easy laughs. Which is something I need once and awhile.

Sesshomaru had been looking for him for some time now. He was growing frustrated and annoyed although it never showed on his regal face.

"Lord Sesshomaru, is there something wrong?" The small toad asked after he ran into his Lord's leg causing the said demon to turn his eyes slightly to his retainer.

He never did understand why he kept the infuriating toad around. Though his loyalty was admirable, his stench was sickening. Ever since he accidently saved the toad and his warriors the imp followed him close behind. Sadly he never stopped complaining whenever Sesshomaru left him in charge of Rin. In all actuality, he never stopped complaining period.

"Silence. He approaches."

"Lord Sesshomaru." Out of nowhere a baboon clad figure appeared out of the bushes with wasps hovering above him. Sesshomaru only had to sniff to know that the man in front of him was not a puppet, but the real thing.

"Ahh, Naraku. Have you gained courage? You usually have one of your minions do the fighting for you.

"Lord Sesshomaru I can assure you that I don't know what you mean. I have simply come to ask you to kill InuYasha."

"And what makes you think that I will if I declined the last time you asked me?"

Kanna stepped from the shadows behind Sesshomaru. She removed a vial from her sleeves and awaited Naraku's cue.

"Lord Sesshomaru, if you decline my offer you will find yourself stripped of every power you ever had."

Naraku knew this would upset the demon lord. He was proud of the control and power he had over himself and other beings. Taking something so important to the demon lord would turn his world upside down.

"Naraku you could never take power away from anyone. What makes you foolish enough to even speak of such things?"

Naraku looked behind Sesshomaru's back and at that moment Kanna took the top off the vial as Sesshomaru turned his back to see the demon of the void. Kanna poured the contents of the powder in to her hand and looked to Naraku.

"Lord Sesshomaru I will give you this last chance to change your mind."

"Poison Naraku? Hn. You truly are a coward. You are also a fool to think that poison will kill me. I am immune to such poisons."

"Ahh yes. You would be, but this herbal poison will erase many of your memories."

"You are going through all this trouble just because I won't kill InuYasha for you?"

"Ha! You are just a weak half-demon! What kind of rival are you to the great and powerful Lord Sesshomaru?" Jaken always did choose the wrong time to speak.

"Kanna. Take care of this annoying imp."

Kanna stood in front of Jaken and quietly spoke, "Look in to my mirror. Give me your soul." Jaken stared at the mirror and before he could move his soul was brutally ripped from his green body. He fell to the floor lifelessly staring off in to space.

'So, this young girl has the power to steal souls. Jaken was a fool. I will take care of him later.'

"So Lord Sesshomaru, what is your choice?"

Sesshomaru ran toward Naraku drawing his Tokijin and threw it behind him as his hand pierced through Naraku's stomach. He looked behind toward Kanna and noticed that his sword was being repelled by the mirror's barrior.

"Fool."

Sesshomaru looked toward Naraku and noticed that tenticles were starting to wrap around his chest, legs, and arm. He quickly tore his body free.

"Kanna!"

Kanna walked up to Sesshomaru and waited for him to turn around. When he turned his face toward her she threw the powder in his face. Sesshomaru hissed in pain as he fell to his knees. He didn't stay down for long. He quickly stood and ran toward his sword picking it up from where it was laying. Within the blink of an eye, he had the demon child pinned against a tree hanging from his sword in her throat.

"Lord Sesshomaru, I will leave you for now. The poison may or may not kill you. It depends on whether you get an antidote in to your body. I can assure you that the poison will kill you by dawn tomorrow. And if it doesn't I will be the one to terminate your life."

Naraku disappeared in a whirlwind of miasma taking Kanna's limp body along with him. Sesshomaru finall fell to his knees while pulling the Tenseiga from its sheath. It put the sword in the ground creating a barrior around himself. He feared what would happen if the Tenseiga didn't save him. He feared that the poison would finish him off before Naraku.

'To think that I will be killed by a low life such as Naraku.'

Sesshomaru leaned his forhead against his hand on his sword and allowed the darkness to consume him. He allowed himself a final thought before drifting to unconciousness.

'Who will care for Rin?"
