DISCLAIMER: laughs hysterically Wow, your funny. wipes tears from eyes

SUMMARY: While trying to get his ward back, Sesshoumaru is turned blind by a village of dark mikos. Then, he stumbles into some of the people he wanted to see the least--Inuyasha and the gang. CU

AN: Konnichiwa. Welcome to my world of insane things. sighs How I love the freedom and insanity of my mind--everything becomes clearer when I'm here (but it also brings a lot of questions so, don't be confused if I just pop up with a random thing). Along with this plot line, I have 25 other Kagome/Sesshoumaru stories and that brings the total of my plot-lines to 26. I finally got the Word processing program I needed to type up the stories with so....I decided to do this one first so....ENJOY!

ch 1: Persual

Once again, his adopted daughter had been kidnapped but, he had learned from his last mistake. When he got her back, he had immediately put a spell over her that could not be hidden, no matter how much magic the young girl was put under.

That was 5 years ago. That time, she had been kidnapped by the hanyou bastard, Naraku. This time, the ones responsible were dark mikos. He did not know what they wanted with his ward for he was sure that they had no idea that the 13-year old girl was under the protection of the Lord of the Western Lands.

As he stalked through the streets of their village whose name escaped him, a memory suddenly surged to the top of his mind. He stopped abruptly as he began to remember times long past.

"Okaa-san, what's this?" a young Sesshoumaru asked as he walked to his mother holding an ancient scroll.

A beautiful, inu youkai looked up at him from her spot on the giant fur. Her bright, golden eyes smiled at him along with her crimson lips and her floor-length, silver hair swung over her shoulder as she turned to look at her son.

He held the parchment out to her and she took it gracefully in between delicately clawed fingers. Her eyes widened minutely as they scanned over the words written there.

"This, Maru-chan, is an ancient prophecy made by Midoriko. I had wondered where it went to," she said, looking up at him.

"Who's Midoriko?" he asked her. She laughed.

"You mean that your father has not yet told you about the greatest miko yet to live?" Mikazuki exclaimed in mock horror.

Sesshoumaru's eyes widened. "No! Why? Is she coming?" He began looking around wildly for any strangers.

Once again, his mother laughed. "Iie, honey. Midoriko is dead. She died centuries ago."

"Oh." For a second, he looked crestfallen. "What does it say!" he exclaimed suddenly, his head jerking up to meet the eyes of his mother.

"Well, why don't we read it together?" she asked, fully anticipating the exited grin her son let loose as he scrambled onto her lap. She made an "oomph" as he plopped onto her lap.

"Maru-chan, you're getting heavy," she complained.

"No I am not, okaa-san!" he shot right back. "I have just been training more and a growing warrior has to eat plenty of food!"

"Hm," was all she said as she settled her arms around him, the scroll finally resting on his white, silk-covered legs.

She cleared her throat dramatically before she began. Sesshoumaru grinned.

"'In the fifth year of Sengoku Jidai's greatest terror,

The Dark Goddess, Kaguya, shall be found in a stranger;

One with raven hair and expressive eyes,

Soul of greatest purity and always with youkai companions,

And the Mark of the Gods that shall appear on her back when the time arises.'"

All was silent in the giant library for a few minutes. Then, Mikazuki spoke.

"Maru-chan, promise me something."

He looked back at her. "What is it?"

"You mean you're not going to promise?" she asked in mock indignation.

"Of course not. You never make an agreement without knowing what it is first," he said as if he were reading a page from a scroll.

"Very good. What I want you to promise me is that you will protect this girl no matter what. At first, she will not be suspected because she is...different and another will be taken but, you will know who she truly is when you meet her. You must protect her with your life for it is for the sake of the happiness of your future."

Sesshoumaru promised then opened his mouth to speak, but she quickly cut him off as if she no longer wanted to speak of the subject.

"Now, what are we going to do about that party tonight?" Both youkai took on an evil grin. They were known for hating parties, as well as the pranks they came up with to lighten the melancholy moods of the uptight youkai that attended them.

He never got the chance to ask his mother about the prophecy for she was killed that night, after or during the party. They never found out who did it and it still irked him to this day. Three years later, Inuyasha had been born.

'Now is not a time to think of the past when the future is right in front of me.' he thought, pushing all his memories aside and locking them away with his emotions. Although, he did wonder why that memory surged forth now of all times.

He suddenly grew aware of how quiet the dark village was. How empty it seemed to have become. There were no sounds from the night creatures. There were no guards posted at the wall which hid the dark mikos village from the untrained eye. He continued his search for the young girl, breathing in deeply as his eyes looked around. He froze and narrowed his eyes suddenly.

He could not smell the scent of a single person in this village. His rigid posture became even more so as he stretched out his senses. What he found greatly angered him--or rather, what he didn't find.

Along with suppressing their scents, the mikos had also suppresses their auras. His wariness grew. Suddenly, he was surrounded in a ball of white light and chanting filled his sensitive ears. He also tried to shut out the light by shutting his eyes but, since that didn't work, he even tried scrunching his eyes shut but, it was to no avail. He finally rose his one hand to cover his eyes and, though it did help some, it did not fully block out the blinding white light.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here? It seems we have caught the great Western Lord sneaking around our village like a common thief," a melodic voice said over top of the chanting that was still going on in a quiet murmur in the background. He ignored it.

"Sesshoumaru, I am hurt. First, you follow us like a love-sick puppy-" he fought to release a growl at the woman's choice in words "-and now you won't even talk to us. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I expected better manners from a lord. Ladies, I think our pet here needs some lessons in etiquette," the voice continued. Loud cheers rang in the inu youkai's sensitive ears as he continued trying to suppress his growls.

'I grow tired of this.' he thought, straitening his posture till he was as flat as a board. He began pressing his youki against the sides of his confinement. He could sense the growing nervousness of a few of the chanters as his power began to build. Within in seconds, the barrier shattered and became shards of light that rained down on the dark mikos. He floated down calmly to the ground though he was raging inside.

'Those bitches blinded me!' he thought as he fought his demon blood for control. The same bodiless voice broke through his thoughts.

"You will stay blind until the Dark Goddess decides other wise. And you will not succeed in taking the child; she is to become the Dark Goddess and you will never be able to stop us."

Without warning, a flash of magic flared out around him. When the magic finally evaporated, the feel of the people around him had disappeared as well as the feel of the village. An enraged snarl slipped past his control and through thinned lips. Kami, how he needed to relieve some stress before he went after the damn mikos, and he also needed to figure out how to reverse the spell and how to get Rin back.

'But first....' Stretching out his senses, he discovered that his young, hanyou, half-brother was close by. A smirk threatened to turn up the corners of the demon's lips. It had been a while since the last lesson he had taught his brother although, he doubted that anyone else knew what he was doing. No one else had cared enough to watch. Or so he thought.

He began running towards the auras of his brother and the little group that followed him in their search for the Shikon no Tama. As he neared their temporary campsite, he slowed down as shouts filtered through the thick trees and into his ears. One voice he recognized as his 'dear' brother's and the other sounded slightly familiar. He jumped from branch to branch till he reached one that overlooked the camp.

A loud "SIT!" rang through the night air, followed by an equally loud 'thump'. This time, a smirk did flash across his god-like features at remembrance of what the word did to his brother. Muffled cursing reached his ears, signaling how close the hanyou's face was to the ground.

Growing tired of the loud noises and their inability to sense his presence, he jumped down gracefully into their camp, fully anticipating the loud "SESSHOUMARU!" that met his ears and the sound of Tetsusaiga being drawn.

"Hello, dear brother."

AN: So, how'd you like it? It seemed like I was going to fast and the ending sounds a little strange. I was just reading the end to one of my best friends and she said that it sounded like Sesshoumaru was laughing. I re-read it and it does sound like he's laughing! Anyone else? Anyone? cricket chirps....tumbleweed blows across empty desert Well, FINE! If you didn't like it, why the hell are you still reading it! If you did like it, give me some feedback, people. Ja ne! D
