Chapter one: Back to the past
Kagome stood in her old shed looking down into the bone-eaters well. It had now been exactly one year since she had been there last. It had been one year since she had buried her dead friends, one year since the last battle, one year since her first love had died.
The last battle was a hard one, especially for Kagome. Sango Miroku, Shippo, and Kirara, had all been killed so quickly, leaving only Inuyasha and Kagome left. Inuyasha was stuck down right in front of her by no other than Kikyo.
That had left only Kagome left. With all her grief and anger put together she had purified anything within the forest.
Kagome had planned to use the sacred jewel to bring everyone back to life, but was enraged with her self when she discovered that her attack had destroyed the jewel. Through a phase she had buried and wept over the graves of her friends. She wasn't certain how she did it but she dragged herself to the well, and had returned home...for good.
As she turned to leave she felt the power of the well coming to life. Kagome gasped in surprise, 'But the only person to that can get through the well besides her is...' "Inuyasha!"
"No," a voice growled from the well, "his half brother."
Kagome and Sesshoumaru stood in Kagome's dinning room. 'I never would of thought that that the lord of the Western Lands would be any were near me ever again. Especially here.'
"Are you the priestess that used to assist my half-brother?" Sesshoumaru asked. Kagome nodded. She was in a state of shock. Never had she thought that she would be talking to anyone from the old days. Not to say, a foe.
"Although i completely despise even talking to you, you must come back to my time." the Lord said, and Kagome could tell that he certainty did not want to be here anymore than she wanted him here.
Kagome sat down. "How did you know about the well? How did you get through?" she asked not ready to face what he had just told her.
Sesshoumaru sighed with impatience. It was bad enough that he had to come to this strange world that smelled awful, but he also had to answer this stupid wenches questions. But he did have to say that her power and her had grown so much since he had last seen her.
"Lots has changed in the last year, wench. A new power is rising, one more powerful than Naraku. I came across Kaede in my search for you and your group. She informed me of what happened. She also told me that it was likely that everyone demon fighting this evil, would fall if we didn't have you to...aid us." he said the last part with disgust. "So you see, miko, you are needed once again. Make sure you bring the jewel."
Kagome had to many questions in her head to move. She was needed again? And if she didn't go, what would happen? The situation sounded bad. If this power were greater than Naraku, than how would she stand a chance? She didn't even have the jewel. Plus how had Sesshoumaru gotten through the well in the first place?! "How is it you got through the well?"
"I don't know. It must be because you were near when it I tried to get through." He answered thoughtfully.
"I will not go." Kagome answered boldly. She had promised her self that that chapter of her life was over. The world would have to find its self-another hero.
In a flash Sesshoumaru had grabbed the women around the waist and dragged her to the well. He really had hoped she would go willingly, but too much was at stake.
Kagome felt herself being pulled back in time, it had been so long since she had felt this feeling.
Getting out of the well, old memories swept over her. For a moment she felt it was like the old days. Any moment now Inuyasha would come complaining how she was late. But he didn't.
In her mind Shippo's smile flashed, the monk and Songo together appeared and Inuyasha did as well. Then tears began to fall as she recalled the last battle. She looked to her left praying not see, what she new was there. To her left lay five graves all protected by her miko power. The women sunk to her knees and cried uncontrollably, as she relived her pain.
Sesshoumaru watched the girl. Of course she was no longer a girl, she was a women. She was felled with grief, and guilt. Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes with annoyance. 'Pathetic human' he thought. She had defeated a powerful half-demon that many had fallen to, and she was sad about it?
"Human there is no time for you to be doing this." he growled
She turned to him and stood. "Shut the hell up Sesshoumaru." She said looking striate into his eyes. Sesshoumaru was taken back. She had said it with no fear. It wasn't long before he became enraged and came at her. She set a weak barrier and ran.
It didn't take long for Sesshoumaru to get through her barrier, but it gave her time to get to the well. He caught her around the waist and the two fell together through the well again.
Kagome opened her eyes and gasped in surprise, there was no well, and they were just lying on flat ground. "Why..."
The two were to busy taking in the scene before them to fight, or even say one word. There was nothing except dead wood and mud. Kagome's house was gone, or it never exsiccated. The two sat there awkwardly. Sesshoumaru was the first to speak.
"So it's true." he said softly "We all fall in the end." Kagome shook with anger. Who did this? Who destroyed all the beauty of Japan? Who was forcing her to go back to the place she tried so hard to forget?
"Not if I can do something about It." she replied to Sesshoumaru's comment.
