The End of Hatred by The Northern Lady Katsumi

Chapter One

"Kagome?"

"Yeah?" The miko rolled on her side to gaze at her silvery-blue haired husband.

"How did we meet?"

Kagome put a thoughtful finger to her rosy lips, her brown eyes narrowing in concentration. Finally, a small smile lit up her face and she looked at Sesshoumaru once again. "Well, we met when you were still that self-centered, arrogant jerk who wanted to know where the Tetsusaiga was. We weren't exactly on the best terms then..."

His amber gaze slipped from the ceiling and settled on her. "That's not what I meant. I meant... When did we actually stop HATING each other."

"Hmm..." Kagome thought for a long while before she responded, still lost in her flash back, "Well, I know for sure it was Inuyasha's fault."

~ 500 years before in Sengoku Jidai ~

"What did you just say?" Kagome sounded angry, her voice shaking just as much as her fists that were balled at her sides.

"I said WENCH, that as soon as the Shicon no Tama is completed, I will wish for mine and Kikyo's happiness." Inuyasha crossed his arms and glared at her defiantly. "And there's nothing you can do about it." His golden gaze suddenly became stricken with sadness. "If only she had never died... I would do anything for her..." The hanyou's gaze turned up towards the sky, gazing through the thick canopy of trees as if lost in a sweet memory.

"But what about Sango and Miroku's happiness huh? Did you ever think about them? How much PAIN the jewel has caused?" The girl didn't mention herself, not wanting to sound selfish or rude. "I know you and Kikyo went through a lot too but..."

"No! The jewel can only do so much and I want to do the right thing! Which will be, to wish that Naraku had never been born so Kikyo and I can be free to live together..." His determined eyes slid towards her own. "Forever."

A single tear slid down the girl's cheek, but she was too angry with him to notice. "OSUWARI!" As soon as Inuyasha hit the ground, she screamed another ten or so "osuwari" commands before stomping off, all of her heartache flying into her face.

At the same time Kagome and Inuyasha had begun the fight, Sesshoumaru had arrived to retrieve the Tetsusaiga. He didn't really want the sword very much anymore; he just wanted to see if, by fighting Inuyasha enough times, he could make the hanyou worthy. The western lord had witnessed the argument and, had decided to see the human miko, considering she was obviously the smarter of the two and may actually speak with him instead of blindly attacking.

Through the dense areas of the forest, past the village where Inuyasha and the other miko once resided, and to an old well. Kagome collapsed beside it and wept about Inuyasha's cruelty to her and her companions. Sesshoumaru slipped gracefully into the well's clearing and was immediately noticed by the female.

The dark blue head bolted up in astonishment, her face frozen in a look of shock. Then it melted and she stood, looking like she usually did, except with tears staining her cheeks. Kagome's eyes were hardened in a sort of resolve and she wiped the tears away ferociously and walked up to the taiyoukai with unwavering steps.

"What. Do. You. Want." She hissed at him through gritted teeth. "I'm having enough problems as it is."

"I noticed." Sesshoumaru replied coolly. Kagome suddenly looked horrified.

"You...You SAW our fight? But how did you see it? WHY did you see it? I don't understand. What do you want?" The look of shock dropped from her face and she tried, and failed miserably, to keep her composure. The girl's whole body tensed up before she collapsed on the ground, her knees digging into the earth. "So now you know that my life isn't so perfect."

"I never assumed that it was. Do not think that I don't have my problems as well human." Sesshoumaru replied, somewhat bitterly. "That hanyou has made my life a living hell ever since he was conceived."

"I never assumed you didn't have problems." Kagome was shaking slightly, her vision slightly blurry from the tears that threatened to spill. "I suppose it's useless to try to talk to you, but I guess I'll try anyway. Seeing as I have no other choice." She stood up, her back straight, head held high despite the tears. "I am Kagome Higurashi, not human or wench. I come from the future and was pulled here by some weird coincidence. I am the supposed reincarnation of a great priestess Kikyo who died pinning Inuyasha to the Goshinboku, the Shicon no Tama was burned with her body by her orders."

Sesshoumaru seemed to consider what she said for a moment before, to Kagome's shock, responding. "I am Sesshoumaru, lord of the western lands. I loathe my younger half brother Inuyasha because when he was conceived, my father dumped my mother off in order to care for the human woman. My mother had been truly in love with him, yet he had only used her as a pawn for his own game. When she was killed by a greater demon, her dying words were to kill all that had made her suffer. She wasn't herself, so I couldn't follow those orders. But her death left me feeling cold and empty."

The schoolgirl seemed stunned for a moment, and then a soft smile lit up her face, the hatred that had been hidden before melting slightly. "I understand you a little better now Sesshoumaru..." Her smile broadened ever so slightly. "I'm surprised you believe me about my home being in the future."

"That part is a bit...Unbelievable, I must admit."

Kagome laughed and hugged the lord very quickly. She smiled and pranced over to the well. "Just watch." She turned and jumped into a well, disappearing from Sesshoumaru's view.

His eyes wide, Sesshoumaru walked over to the well and looked over the edge into the depths below. No sobbing human, no indication she had been there at all. All that was in there, were bones. Just as he was about to turn away, he felt a surge of power and he watched in awe as Kagome dropped into the bottom of the well once more.

"Tuh duh." Kagome climbed out of the well with only a bit of difficulty and as soon as she touched the ground, a white and red blur came charging from the trees. She immediately knew what it was. "OSUWARI!"

"OOF!" There Inuyasha was, just a smoking crater in the ground, issuing strings of colorful words about Kagome.

"Sesshoumaru, please, don't fight with him anymore." Kagome looked up at him with her shining chocolate eyes.

The taiyoukai sighed and nodded his head, much to the miko's delight. "For now, I shall not fight him." Her dance of joy faltered just a tiny bit, but she kept smiling. As he took off, he could faintly hear Kagome whisper a thanks to him, just as Inuyasha heaved himself from the ground and began to curse at her.

~ Kagome's Time ~

A soft sigh escaped Kagome's lips as she finished her tale. She cuddled up against Sesshoumaru's chest, drawing the blankets higher over her body. Her fingers traced small circles on his chest as she daydreamed about the past. The taiyoukai's voice snapped her from her trance.

"I remember that now." He said softly. His claws brushed through her hair as he gazed off into space as well.

"Everything worked out in the end neh?" Kagome nuzzled into his chest, closing her eyes.

"Hey Kagome, I have one last question for you before you go to sleep. Whatever happened to Inuyasha?"

A sly grin spread across Kagome's face. "Basically, he got his ass pinned to the tree again, except this time, he's still awake..."

~ Meanwhile, on the Goshinboku Tree ~

"KAGOME! I'M GONNA KILL YOU! WAIT UNTIL I GET DOWN! KAGOME!"

The End
