And now the story...
Kagome tenderly touch her cheek while staring out the opaque bus window. No longer focusing on the outside world, she begins to closely examine the stains on the window guessing what caused each stain. She figured that most are from children's fingertips, tongues or their mucus. She mentally calculates all the different types of germs and that it would be best if she does not touch the window.
Her attention is abruptly changed as an older man asks if he can share the seat with her. Kagome inwardly groans and moves over to indicate her answer. She attempts to go back to her window and prays all the more to Kami that the old man will mind his business. But remembering the numbers of that happening Kagome gives up on her window and silently tells it that she shall be back. Turning around and startling the man, Kagome sticks out her hand and smiles.
"Hi the name is Kagome," she states while she examining the old man's face closely.
The old man coughs in her face and pushes her hands away. He folds his arms and eyes her. He then coughs and does not attempt to cover his mouth again. He looks up at the ceiling of the bus and closes his eyes. "I have nothing to say to you girl."
Kagome is too busy tracing the lines of his winkled face to have heard what he just said. Tempted by how the lines marred his face, Kagome shifts closers to the old man. She then begins to trace one of the lines that start from the center of his dark forehead then making its way to the old man's nose and then stopping at his mouth. Kagome then whispers, "Sorry."
The old man opens his eye immediately when Kagome's soft finger tips made contact with his coarse face. He opens his mouth to reply but stops upon hearing her apology. Taken aback and not knowing what to do, the old man pushes her slim finger away and turns his face away. "Do you have no sense at all girl? I told you that I have no business with you and yet you touch my face! All I wanted was a sit and here you go bothering me. Kami, Kami, Kami you sure a bitch!" The old man throws his hands in the air hitting Kagome in the face.
The second time today she is hit. Kagome blinks a couple of times and tries to process what just happen. The old man actually did not want to speak to her. She turns back to the window and thinks more. He just wants to sit down and nothing more. Share a seat with her. And she just ruined the peace for herself and that man because she thought that Kami was against her. Kagome begins to laugh and strokes the cheek that keeps on getting abusive. Kagome shakes her head at Kami and life.
Once the old man left the bus, Kagome sigh and made sure to sit in the middle of the seat so that no one would ask to share it with her. She did not care at the moment that her actions are being mean and rude. Hell people are being rude to her too. But the reason why Kagome wants to be alone is because of the note she has in her hands.
She stares down at the paper and gulps. She can not believe that she is going to be doing this. After all she is unlearned in the art of men and women. The only thing she knows is how to totally ruin the moment with a boy when he wants to feel you and kiss you. Poor Hojo. She sighs and looks out the window again. She sees the street flashing by and her destination coming up fast. Kagome decides to get off at this street and walk to the place. She is too embarrassed to let the other people on the bus know where she is heading. No one would have guess that she, an innocent naïve schoolgirl, while ex now, would be going to that place. She makes up her mind and agrees with her conscience that it is a wise move. She folds the paper and places it back into her pocket and lifts her arm to pull the string to let the bus driver know she wants to get off.
After hearing the ding, Kagome stands up with her bag and quickly exits the bus. Hearing the bus door slam behind her, Kagome could not help feeling that the doors in a way symbolized the ending of her old life and the beginning of a new one. Kagome sticks her hand back into her pocket and touches the paper in there. That paper and that place will be her new life. And with that Kagome heads off in search of the building.
Kagome stares up at the building. She has finally made it. After pushing through people, ignoring whistles and stares and people trying to sell her things, she is here. She looks at the paper in her hand and then back at the building. The building is impressing. The building looks like a respectable place even though the business that takes place in it isn't. She tries to swallow her now thick saliva and brushes the tendrils away from her face.
"This is it girl, you can do this. This is your life now. No turning back...." Kagome says to her conscience which is now screaming at her to turn around and leave. But she could not listen to it this time. There is no where to run too even if she did not want to be here.
Kagome walks up the stairs and opens the door and slips inside the building hoping that no one sees her entering. She turns around to make sure the door is close but then is startled when she feels a hand on her shoulder.
Turning around and jumping back, Kagome gives the unknown person a mean look and karate-chop hands. Holding it up higher and making noises, Kagome backs away while trying to get a better look at the person. 'Why does it have to be so dim in here....?' And that is when she hears an old feminine laugh.
Kagome drops her hands when she realizes how stupid she must have looked to that woman. Mentally slapping her forehead, Kagome tries to laughing while walking up to the woman.
Kagome gasps at how the woman looks. She is just a little bit taller than Kagome. Kagome can tell that Kami definitely endowed the woman well, judging that one breast could feed all the hungry little babies in Africa. The woman's waist is so tinier than Kagome's. Kagome's eyes then travel back to her face to examine it better.
The woman's face tells that the woman when young was a beauty. That all the men had lusted after her. She has very few lines around her deep brown eyes. Her lips are tiny and line and down up in a deep shade of red. Hew eyebrows are nicely shaped and arched. And then her hair. Kagome reaches out to stroke it. The woman's hair is a salt and paper color which suited her well. The hair is silky and soft to the touch and it reached down to the middle of the woman's back.
The woman watch as the young girl and her seemingly fascination with her hair. Laughing again, the woman stops her hands and holds them in her hands. She smiles down at the young girl and touches her cheek as a mother would. "You are a young child, nay"
Kagome blinks and sheepishly smiles at the older woman. "Yes and my name is Kagome. But please, don't let my age fool you. I am well trained in the art of seduction. Please let me work here. I beg. I have no where else to go." Kagome looks down at her feet and prays to Kami that the older woman believes her little fib. She is not well trained in the art of seduction, but Kagome guess that after one or two encounters with a man she will be. Kagome looks back up at the older woman and smiles while watching the older woman's facial expression.
The older woman smiles back at Kagome and gently squeeze her hands. "I guess that age really does not matter. I will take you in Kagome. But how old are you exactly? Seventeen? Well then I guess it will be fine. But you mustn't act like how you did a minute ago with me around men or you and I will not be getting customers. And my name is Kaede. Follow me and I shall show you your lodging, the clothing that you shall be required to wear and where you may entertain your male guesses."
Kagome gulps and slowly nods her head and follows Kaede as she shows her where everything is at. And again Kagome is left speechless at how the place looks. Kagome could not help but ask how. "Um, Kaede, why is this place so beautiful, I mean this business is all about sex and..."
Kaede turned around and places a finger on Kagome's lips silencing her. "This is not about sex Kagome. You will soon discover that it is about the body and the beautiful dance that it does. You no longer will care about the faces of your male guests but rather how their bodies move along with yours. Kagome if you want a job that only deals with sex then I advise that you go look for the girls that walk up and down on the streets only in their under wears. Am I understood?"
Kagome could only nod her head at the words of Kaede. And so, because of her young mind, Kagome wonders about what Kaede's life was like and if she ever loved someone and more importantly, would she, Kagome, end up like Kaede.
Kaede claps her hands after explaining to Kagome all the details about pay and so forth. Getting up to leave Kagome alone, Kaede opens the door and turns around says, "You will begin tonight. I will have a customer for you. You will meet him downstairs and then lead him back to the room that I showed you. As you become better, I will then allow you to attend balls and so forth and allow you to go to the customer's home. The gentleman will be here within thirty minutes. And please show him that this is not about sex." And with that Kaede slams the door and leaves Kagome and process everything that Kaede just told her.
