Chapter One

Love's First Kiss

Kagome was crying again. She didn't know where she was all she cared was that she was far from Inuyasha.

Earlier that night she saw Inuyasha with Kikyou. But what she heard broke her heart to pieces. "I love you," said Inuyasha. "Do you truly love me? And not my stupid reincarnation?" Asked Kikyou. "Yes, I always will. She means nothing to me. I only put up with her because, she can help with the shard hunting," said Inuyasha as he started to kiss Kikyou.

Remembering this Kagome felt a new wave of tears in her eyes. It hurt her so much when she heard what Inuyasha said. She loved him and being stupid like she was, she actually thought Inuyasha loved her back.

Then she came to a valley full of pink blossom trees. Everything looked so errie, but beautiful, Kagome thought as she reached out and touched a blossom with her hand. There she sat lost in the beauty of the night; not knowing her true destiny was coming her way.

Sesshomaur was flying in his cloud lost in his thoughts when he noticed Kagome down below him. What is she doing there, and where is my half breed brother? He thought to himself. He could smell salty tears. He was feeling something unfamiliar, he couldn't name what he was feeling and it bothered him. And now he felt something pulling him towards Kagome. So going against his belief of anybody associated with Inuyasha must be left to die or whatever danger they are in, he went down to Kagome's crying form.

Kagome who was once more had tears streaming down her face, noticed Sesshomaurs's tall figure coming fast towards her. "If you are here to kill me then get it over with," said Kagome. "I do not wish to kill you, I simply came to see why my baka of a brother is not here to protect you," answered Sesshomaur. "He's too busy kissing Kikyou," said Kagome who was fighting back her tears once again. "I see he hasn't noticed that you love him," he said. "How do you know if I do or do not!?" yelled Kagome. Sesshomaur's ears twitched, but his face remained emotionless. "Your face tells it all, you have to learn how to mask your emotions. You are practically asking someone to read your mind when you show your emotions," said Sesshomaur will an amused look on his face. "Oh you think you are so high and mighty, but only those who are pure of heart can rightfully claim they are powerful," said Kagome with her voice dripping with anger. "Why do you say that?" asked Sesshomaur who raised a a delicate eyebrow. "Well because, those with compassion, trust, courage, and love can truly rule over others. They have the power to look deep into one's heart and know what they are feeling. Sure being able to read minds is useful when you want to know what they are thinking. But being able to look deep into their heart and soul, you find out what they really feel no matter what they do to try and hide their emotions from the world around them," said Kagome a little surprised at herself. " You are the most wisest human I have ever met," was all Sesshomaur said as he was still thinking about what Kagome said.

She truly is a remarkable girl, well, for a human I suppose thought Sesshomaur. She isn't even afraid of me, she even raised her voice at me and no human or demon for that matter has ever done that. Yet here she was. Why she puts up with Inuyasha I don't know. Inuyasha is an idiot for not noticing her. But like the baka that he is he'd rather have a clay pot by his side. No wonder she was crying. Why she hangs around with him is beyond me.

"If Inuyasha always hurts you why do you put up with him?" Asked Sesshomaur who was a little surprised at him for asking the question that has been plaguing him ever since he first saw her with Inuyasha. "It's my fault that the shikon no tama broke, so I feel that it's my responsibility to get the rest of be jewel shards, also... she didn't want to finish. "You don't have to finish if you do not wish to," said Sesshomaur gently. "No, no, it's alright, I'll tell you. It's because I love him. Only now I don't know if I still do. He has hurt me so many times that my heart can't take it any more," "I understand," said Sesshomaur.

Kagome then started to cry. He didn't know what made him do it but he soon found himself putting his arms around her shaking body. At first Kagome was surprised at his embrace but then the warmth of his body felt so comforting, so she just sat with Sesshomaur cradling her in his arms. Soon she falls asleep.

Sesshomaur was lost in his thoughts that he didn't know that Kagome fell asleep. She feels so much at one time. How does she do it? She is beautiful as well; I have never seen any women, human or demoness with the beauty that she possesses. She surpasses them all. She smells good as well. I always thought humans smelled bad, but this one smells good really good. I can't place the scent though. It smells very familiar. He now smelled her hair trying to place the scent. But it was getting harder and harder, he was getting intoxicated with her. Now I recognize that scent, it's the scent of jasmine and lavender. He was awoken from his dazed state when he heard Kagome say his name in her sleep.

To hear her say his name made his heart beat faster. Then to his surprise she started to pet his tail. Unable to stop himself, he started to purr with satisfaction. Kagome was now snuggling up to him looking for warmth.

To have her there in his arms was wrong, but in his heart it felt so...right. He hated to admit that he has had feelings for her since he first laid his eyes on her. His body always ached to have her in his arms. And now that he was finally holding her he felt as if he was in heaven.

With Kagome fast asleep, he started to put his fingers through her raven black hair. It felt softer than he thought it would be. His fingers went through it like it was liquid. Then he started tracing her facial lines. He was surprised when two orbs of chocolate looked up at him. He immediately removed his hand from her face. Kagome didn't realize that he was caressing her face, when she did a tinge of pink crept up to her face. Avoiding his gaze she looked up at the moon. It was the only source of light and it made Sesshomaur look like a guardian angel. Being here with him made her feel safe and wanted for the first time in many days. He's not all that bad thought Kagome. There's actually a nice side to him; he's much more considerate than Inuyasha ever was. NO! I can't think like this, I am betraying Inuyasha. What would he do If he found out I was in his brother's arms? So what, he didn't care if he always broke your heart every time he went to go see Kikyou, said a voice in the back of her head. This is wrong, but at the same time it feels so right, thought Kagome. She then looked up at Sesshomaur who looked like he was deep in thought. But she couldn't stand the silence. "Thank you, Sesshomaur-sama," said Kagome still avoiding his gaze. This brought Sesshomaur out of his thoughts. "Why are you thanking me?" asked Sesshomaur mildly surprised; though it didn't show on his face. "Well because, you listened to me when no one else would. You make me feel safe and......wanted," said Kagome, who's face was now turning a light shade of pink. She looks even more beautiful when blushes. What am I thinking? I hate to admit it but I truly and deeply love.......Kagome. What am I saying, why couldn't I fall for another girl and not my brother's wench. But she's not your brother's, he lost his chance with her long ago, a voice in the back of his head said. I doubt she feels the same way about me, I can tell she still loves Inuyasha. I'll never know if I don't tell her how I truly feel about her.

"Why was I so stupid to fall in love with him," cried out Kagome who now was burying her face in Sesshomaur's chest as she started to cry. Feeling the hot tears seep through his haori, he felt the need to take away her pain. He wanted to be the one that would make her forget about her broken heart. Picking up her head to face him he said, "It's better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all," Hearing this Kagome felt at peace in Sesshomaur's arms. Then her true feelings about the demon lord came to the surface. I love him, it's as simple as that. She knew she always have, but ignored them. She didn't want to come and face her feelings. She felt that she would be betraying Inuyasha. And she didn't want to do that to him, but now it didn't matter. All she wanted was to stay here in his arms forever, but she knew that would be an empty wish. After tonight Sesshomaur will never look back on this and he'll just forget the whole thing even happened. But I have to tell him how I truly feel about him or I'll live in regret for not doing so.

"Kagome I need to talk to you," said Sesshomaur. "Um... ok," answered Kagome. "I love.... you," said Sesshomaur getting up, and gently laid Kagome on the soft grass. Kagome was shocked at Sesshomaur's confession. When she saw the beginnings of a cloud at his feet, she quickly stood up and ran to him. Feeling something grab his waist he turned to see Kagome. And his cloud instantly disappear. He was at lost for words because, he was lost in Kagome's orbs of chocolate. It was the same with Kagome. She was intently looking deep into his eyes. She saw many emotions that confused her. There they were standing trying to read one another's emotions. Finally it was Kagome who broke each other's gaze. "I love you too," said Kagome in a small voice. Sesshomaur couldn't believe what he just heard. "You don't love Inuyasha?" asked Sesshomaur, unable to hide the jealousy in his voice. "I can't lie, I still love him, but my love for you is more stronger than it is for Inuyasha. I have always loved you, but I was afraid to betray Inuyasha. But I don't care anymore I don't want to hide from my feelings anymore," said Kagome who now had tears in her. "You don't have to cry anymore, I am here to protect you will never have to cry anymore. I will love you with all my heart and soul," and with that he took her in his arms and pressed his lips passionately against her soft pink ones. When they finally broke apart, Kagome looked at Sesshomaur with tears in her eyes. "Why are you crying?" asked Sesshomaur who was showing concern on his face. Kagome just smiled. "I'm crying because, I'm happy. That was my first kiss and I always pictured it to be with someone I truly loved, and I got my wish," said Kagome who was looking at Sesshomaur with a pink tinge in her cheeks. "That was my first kiss as well. I always wanted to share it with someone I loved with all of my being," said Sesshomaur. And then he took Kagome into another passionate kiss. Both Kagome and Sesshomaur finally shared a true love's first kiss.
