The Breaking Point by Striking Falcon
Myouga's Problem and Blessed...Sin?
Disclaimer: Unlike the others, this is the last time you'll see this little number here. I don't own Inuyasha. If I did, Kagome would get Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha would find love on his own, Miroku would stop groping everything that wears a skirt...wait a minute. Nope, I wouldn't change that. The aftermath is too funny. Oh yeah, for this chapter, I don't own 'Weathered'.
The Breaking Point

"No!" he screamed as he burst into the room, reaching for the woman crumpled on the ground. A man tossed him aside effortlessly, flinging him from the room and into the next.
"Stay out of it, you stuttering brat!" he snarled, then glanced around the room. He opened a drawer and withdrew a large butcher knife, weighing the instrument in his hands before stalking toward the woman once again. "I've told you bitch. You can't leave me. You belong to me. If I can't have you..." he raised the knife over her, the blade glinting in the afternoon sunlight shining in the window. "Then no one ca-"
"Leave her alone!!!"
Crack!
He dropped the knife, and the boy dropped the bat as the woman looked up at the noise. The man slumped to the pristine linoleum below, his eyes lifeless as blood pooled beneath him. The boy glanced from him to the woman, the bat rolling across the floor as he whispered
"I...I didn't m-mean to M-mother. I c-couldn't let him h-h-hurt you..."

Myouga scanned the crowd ahead of him, wondering to himself how he managed to get himself into these kinds of situations. 'I mean, what's an old man like me doing managing a singing group?' he thought as he entered the backstage doors and proceeded down the hallway. 'It would be different if they were a regular boy band, but there's nothing normal about Blessed Curse. And once they receive the news, they're not going to be too happy about it.' He turned a dismal shade of gray, a frown crossing his normally kind features as a stagehand flagged him down.
"Mr. Hyouta?"
"That's me," Myouga said absently, his hand reaching out for the dressing room door in front of him. The stagehand nodded in confirmation. "Yeah, well, BC is due on stage in five."
"Thank you." Myouga stepped inside, giving no thought to why the young fellow decided to talk to him instead of informing the band himself. 'After all,' he said as he surveyed the room's occupants. 'Who would want to come in here?'
Each band member, four in all, sat on opposite sides of the room, with only one glancing up to greet Myouga as he came in. "Hey, it's Mr. Meigi!"
"Myouga, Miroku," grumbled a dark haired, golden eyed youth sitting in a chair on Myouga's immediate left. "Gah, you are stupid."
"I'm highly offended Inuyasha," Miroku said with a smile, then decided to ignore him as he brushed something off his faded jeans. "What can we do for you?"
"I need to speak to you," Myouga said. "It's about the group."
This caught everyone's attention, as they were now up and staring at him. Miroku glanced at his shirt in a nearby mirror, a purple t-shirt that was at least three sizes too big. It seemed as if the entire band were dressed in faded jeans and purple t-shirts...well, all but one.
"Sesshoumaru?" Myouga said to him, watching with slight irritation as he glanced up a moment, then continued to pick at the sleeves of his black open dress shirt. A white tank top flashed underneath it. 'At least he tried to be like everyone else,' Myouga commented, eying his faded jeans before turning to the last band member. "Kouga? Were you two arguing again?"
"No, we were not," Sesshoumaru answered for him. "We do not need to be babysat, if that is what you're thinking."
"Here he goes," Kouga grumbled, earning groans all around when Sesshoumaru glared at him. "His high and mighty "I don't need you to do anything" attitude. You're an assho-"
"As true as that may be," Myouga interrupted, ignoring the glares Sesshoumaru and Kouga sent him. "I'm not here to babysit. I'm here to-"
"Three minutes," the stagehand from earlier called in, then quickly closed the door behind him. Miroku sighed and stood up, the others following his lead before filing past him and out the door. "We'll have to talk later," Inuyasha grumbled, then reached inside a nearby coat for a pair of drumsticks. "We have work to do."
"Yes," Myouga said as he closed the door behind him. He followed them to the stage, the heavy curtain shielding them from the view of the audience as the other set up.
Miroku fiddled with the wiring attached to his keyboard, then proceeded with his sound check as Inuyasha sat down behind the drum set in the middle of the stage. Kouga grabbed a nearby guitar, it painted black with three stars lined up on the handle. He frowned at Sesshoumaru's back as he set up at the front of the group, systematically checking each string on his guitar as Kouga called to him.
"Hey Sesshoumaru! You don't have to play 1st today!"
Sesshoumaru ignored him, proceeding to retrieve a silver and blue pick from his pocket.
"I said-"
"I heard what you said," Sesshoumaru replied, giving the stagehand setting up the microphone in front of him a spare nod before glancing over his shoulder. "But I am not listening."
"Why do you have to be such a godda-"
"Ladies and gentlemen," the announcer interrupted, a silent prayer of thanks coming from Myouga as the man's voice boomed in over the loudspeaker. "Welcome to Gladstone Stadium. Here with our opening act is none other than Blessed Sin!"
"Dude!" someone whispered as the Myouga and the others groaned. "It's Blessed Curse!"
"Oh yeah. Sorry about that folks. Blessed Curse!"
Myouga watched as the stage curtain opened, hoping for all the little man was worth that Sesshoumaru or the others wouldn't cause a scene. The crowd cheered as the stage revealed itself, the band members pausing only a moment before Sesshoumaru and Kouga introduced the first bars of the song. Inuyasha entered moments later, with Miroku backing up Kouga's part of the song as Sesshoumaru took his first breath.
~I lie awake on a long, dark night. I can't seem to tame my mind. Slings and arrows are killing me inside.
Maybe I can't accept the life that's mine. No.... Maybe I can't accept the life that's mine.~
Myouga shook his head, aggravation spreading over his features as Sesshoumaru sang before him. 'Unbelievable,' he said to himself. 'Wasn't he told to do something faster?' The audience didn't seem to mind, even cheering Sesshoumaru on as the next part of the song flowed from his lips.
~Simple living is my desperate cry. Betrayed love with indifference yet it suits me just fine. I try to hold on but I'm callused to the bone. Maybe that's why I feel alone. Yeah.... Maybe that's why I feel so alone.
~'Cause me, I'm rusted and weathered. Barely holding together. I'm covered in skin that peels and just won't heal. I'm rusted and weathered. Barely holding together. I'm covered in skin that peels and just won't heal.~
'The song isn't bad,' Myouga told himself. 'and Sesshoumaru sounds great, as usual. But would it kill him to do something less depressing?'
~The sun shines and I can't avoid the light. I think I'm holding on to life too tight. Ashes to ashes, and dust to dust. Sometimes I feel like giving up. Yeah... I said, sometimes I feel like giving up.~
'But what do I know?' Myouga finally relaxed, then tensed up again as he remembered what he wanted to talk to the group about. 'I know that after this, if anyone will be angry, it'll be Sesshoumaru.' He stopped as the guitar solo filtered through the air, with Sesshoumaru and Kouga in what seemed like a competition with each other.
~The day, reminds me of you. The night hides the truth. The earth is a voice speaking to you. Take all this pride and leave it behind. Cause one day it ends. One day we die. Believe what you will. That is your right. But I choose to win. I choose to fight. To Fight...~
"There will be trouble after this," Myouga groaned as Kouga attempted to take over the first guitar part of the song. Sesshoumaru ignored him, merely overlapping Kouga's bass with his own.
~Cause me, I'm rusted and weathered. Barely holding together. I'm covered in skin that peels and just won't heal. I'm rusted and weathered. Barely holding together. I'm covered in skin that peels and just won't heal....~
The audience applauded wildly as the curtains closed, some even chanting the group's name before all hell broke loose backstage.
"What was that?" Sesshoumaru growled back at Kouga as he set down his guitar. "Didn't I tell you that I would play that?"
"Look Sesshoumaru," Kouga began, he too setting down his instrument as Sesshoumaru approached him. "You sing, and you play lead. It's too much. Let me play lead and you do the singing."
"I don't think so," Sesshoumaru retorted. "I lead this band, and as long as I do I will sing and I will play lead."
"But you wouldn't be a band without the rest of us!" Inuyasha retorted, anger already evident in his eyes. Sesshoumaru glared over his shoulder at him, then dismissed him entirely. "What are we, chopped liver?"
"They're right Sesshoumaru," Miroku said as he stepped by Sesshoumaru's side. Sesshoumaru glared back at him, then at everyone else around him. "Oh, so you're turning against me?"
"No, Sesshoumaru. That's not it at all," Miroku replied. "But they're right. We are a band, not you are a band. Kouga just wants to take the extra burden off of you, isn't that correct?"
"Yeah," Kouga said, then "But you had to be a jackass about it!"
"Watch your mouth, you filthy-"
"Woah," Myouga said, stepping between the two before a fight could begin. "Look, you guys played great tonight. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks Myouga," Inuyasha said, with Kouga and Miroku voicing their agreement. Sesshoumaru, however, merely walked back to the front of the stage and picked up his guitar as the stagehands began clearing the band's equipment off the stage. Myouga shook his head, wondering to himself if you could get whiplash from doing so for so often as he and the others walked back to the dressing room.
"Now," he said as the others settled around him. Sesshoumaru was crouched nearest him, packing his instrument as the others relaxed around him. Inuyasha sat in his same place on the sofa, twirling one of his sticks between his fingers as Kouga and Miroku turned their attention to Myouga.
"As you well know, Blessed Curse-"
"Or Blessed Sin, depending on who's announcing," Inuyasha retorted, earning a few giggles from around him. Sesshoumaru glared at him from his position on the floor, throwing a
"Shut up, halfbreed."
Into Inuyasha's direction before waving at Myouga to continue.
"Well," Myouga stuttered nervously. "As I was saying, this group is extremely popular, and already has it's share of fans."
"But?" Miroku asked, seeing the look on Myouga's face.
"But," Myouga sighed, preparing himself for the worst. "We at Youkai Management services feel that, in order for you to become mainstream, you need another member."
"There's already four of us!" Kouga complained. "And we don't like each other as it is!"
"Speak for yourself," Sesshoumaru commented as he snapped his case closed. "I like myself just fine."
"I'm hurt," Miroku said as Sesshoumaru walked past him. "I thought you at least liked me."
"I tolerate you," Sesshoumaru joked. "There is a difference."
"Oh, I'm mortally wounded by your indifferen-"
"The office feels that you need a female."
The room went silent around Myouga, each occupant wondering to themselves if they heard him right.
"What?" came Inuyasha after a few minutes.
"What do we need a girl for?" Kouga griped. "We already have too many people as it is."
"Then quit. No one would miss you."
"Fuck you Sesshoumaru."
"She's not to play," Myouga interjected. "She's to sing."
"WHAT?!" Miroku, Inuyasha, Kouga and Sesshoumaru said in unison.
"You cannot be serious."
"What do we need a girl for?"
"Another lead singer? Great..."
"I like the idea." Miroku shrugged as the others glared a him. "What?"
"She's not to join Sesshoumaru," Myouga explained. "She's to take his place."
"But why?" Inuyasha asked. "What's a girl going to do that we can't?"
Myouga shrugged. "Our studies show that groups that have at least one girl in them have a better success rate than those that have none, or those that are all girl. We simply-"
"No."
"Excuse me," Myouga said. "What was that?"
Sesshoumaru yawned lightly, then repeated himself. "No. Blessed Curse will stay as it is."
Myouga nodded respectfully, then said "As much as I'm sure you'd like that, this isn't a suggestion."
"You mean we have to?" Inuyasha said. Kouga rolled his eyes and sighed. "Jeez, you're quick Inuyasha."
"You are no better," Sesshoumaru replied.
"Once again, fuck you Sesshou-"
"We're having try-outs tomorrow," Myouga said as he stepped toward the door. "We're only looking for three days. We've advertised in the local paper, so I expect there will be a lot of girls at the office tomorrow."
"Great," Inuyasha groaned as Myouga slipped out the door. "Just great. Like we don't have enough problems."

SF: Yeah, it's another one. Like I don't have enough to do. I really like this idea though, and I've wanted to do a band fic for the longest. Don't worry, you guys that know me by now know that I never do anything that's typical. Oh, and I like Creed too-
Silver Fox: More like 'If I ever get near the lead singer, I'm going to molest him' like Creed.
SF: Shut up! It's not like you're not gah over that Michelle chick in Destiny's Child.
Silver Fox: What? I think she's cute.
SF: My point exactly. Anyway, until I say different, any song done by Sesshoumaru is going to be Creed, even though it might be possible to find another guy group that someone else hasn't already done a fic to. Oh, but by all means, tell me what you think. I'm dying to know.
