ideas lemme know...I’d love to hear em

TITLE: Not Always Opposites

Chapter title: Give it back!

She loves to defy him, he seems to detest her, and they live together. It

had always been that way; there was no changing what they were. He was the

heir to his fathers company while she was the daughter of his father’s best

friend. Her father died when she was one, he four, and her mother had

mysteriously disappeared when she was born. Growing up together was fun;

there was no argument there; who could deny the fun of a constant

challenge?

She was raised as a proper lady of the Japanese High Society and was his

shadow for more than one instance in their lives, but they only did what

was necessary to survive in their world of business, social events, and

grand gala’s.

Though she was only a lady, she had made it quite clear that she was to

know and understand the business and it’s operations...and she always got her

way. Oh how well she played the part of the spoiled rich girl...and yet,

didn’t. Yes, she always got her way, but she obdurately detested snobbish

rich girls. For that, he was silently grateful and showed her a small

smidgen of respect. That was their life, but there was definitely more to

it than anyone had expected.

“Get BACK HERE”

“Not on your life”

“It’s MINE”

“Not any longer”

“FLUFFY!”

“CHILDREN!”

“Uh oh” Those two small words were uttered in unison with pure fright;

father could be scary when he wanted to, and that one word promised death.

They were frozen in their tracks, both forgetting about the little rift,

staring down the hallway for a moment before she latched onto his hand and

began a hastened walk aimed for the dining hall, no sense in upsetting

father more by being tardy. He complied with her antics but raised an

eyebrow at her when she turned to look at him.

“What?” ‘Oh how innocent you sound, but I know better little girl!’ He

glanced at their hands and then to her face to watch her expression; it was

always the same. She wasn’t like a normal seventeen-year-old high school

girl; her face was always impassive and reserved, and she never bounced

around the house like a lovesick puppy. As a matter of fact, she had only

had one boyfriend before, and she didn’t actually want to date him...she just

felt sorry for him. As a result of her matured composure, in times such as

this where a girl would be blushing profusely from such contact, she simply

matched his eyebrow and continued her tirade. Just before they reached the

door she released his hand and turned a wink on him. His smirk was her

reply, but was quickly wiped away as they entered the room.

His father sat at the head of the table waiting for the occupants of his

home to join him for breakfast once more. There were very few modern

rituals the makeshift family practiced as they aged, but the ones they did

practice were sacred to all of them. When the two ‘children’ entered, he

looked up and shook his head in good humor. ‘Will they ever learn?’

The two in question spared each other one last glance before taking up

their respective seats at the table. He sat on his fathers right while she

took up his right. Neither of them realizing what that unconsciously

signified...but the other occupants noticed.

“Do you two ever look like anything other than a block of ice?” Both

raised an eyebrow at his question and turned to each other. It was a bit

amusing to see a reflection of your expression, or rather lack of

expression, sitting directly in front of you. Their gaze was broken when

the final member of the ‘family’ entered the dining room.

“Of course they don’t, they look like ice and they’re both just as cold!”

His father had to bite his tongue to keep in the roar of laughter that

threatened to spill into the room at that comment.

“Good morning to you too Inuyasha” He bowed his head to acknowledge the

morning greeting before taking up his seat on his father’s right. He

returned his gaze to his two ‘siblings’ and frowned; they seemed so

unaffected by his comment that it sent chills racing throughout Inuyasha’s

body.

Moments later, two servants entered with trays of breakfast victuals.

Everyone waited for Inutaisho to begin eating before satisfying themselves.

Breakfast was fairly uneventful, but something caught both Inuyasha and

Inutaisho’s attention just before they were all to be excused to begin

their day.

“Sesshoumaru, Kagome...what are you doing?” Currently, Sesshoumaru had his

hand under the table but it seemed to be crossed over into Kagome’s lap.

She had her brows nit together in concentration with her hand seemingly in

the same place as Sesshoumaru’s. Granted it did not look good for these

two to be doing something like that at the breakfast table...in front of his

father no less. Everyone was beyond shocked at the thought...they just

weren’t like that.

They both looked from Inuyasha to Inutaisho and back again before Kagome’s

eyes narrowed towards Sesshoumaru as she whispered.

“Gomen Nassai, Inutaisho-sama, but Sesshoumaru has something that belongs

to me.” Sesshoumaru glared back with amusement and spoke up,

“I told you earlier, it is no longer yours, but mine” but felt immediately

scrutinized once he realized what his reply must have sounded like to the

other two occupants in the room.

“Ah hem” Inutaisho narrowed his sights on the two, “This is neither the

time nor the place, you may leave.” Kagome sat in stunned awe for a moment

before jumping up from her seat and speaking just below a yell.

“It’s not LIKE that. He took something of mine...” She huffed in irritation

before storming out of the room and down the hall to leave for school.

Inutaisho raised his eyes at the door that was still swinging from its

latest use.

“How is it that my eldest son can bring someone like her to her wits end in

mere moments, yet none of us can even get a smile from her?” Inuyasha

barely held back the laughter and settled for a snicker.

“Yeah Sess, how do you manage to always piss her off?”

Sesshoumaru stood and glared at Inuyasha. “If I revealed my secrets to

you, then where would all my fun go?” Before Inuyasha or Inutaisho could

reply, Sesshoumaru glided out of the house and down to the garage.

Inuyasha turned to Inutaisho with his eyebrows still raised in shock. The

most emotionless man he ever knew had just made a claim on fun, and at the

expense of a woman no less. What made it even better was that it was his

adopted younger sister, Kagome, that Sesshy seemed to have taken the

interest in...oh how confusing.

“Do you think...?” Inuyasha couldn’t finish the sentence, but it seemed

Inutaisho understood just fine as he shrugged his shoulders.

“It would be interesting to see what came of that!” On that note, the two

let all the laughter they had held in come flying forth with a great

rumble. It was just too damn funny to think of two ice bricks falling for

each other; and for neither of them to notice it was just too much to jest

at. The day was going to be perfect...perfectly odd.

‘Stupid Fluffy, stupid Inuyasha, stupid EVERYTHING, IT’S MINE DAMN IT!’

Kagome made her way down the walk to the garage to call for her driver.

She, to any on lookers, was completely poised and relaxed. To anyone who

knew her, however, she was a force to be reckoned with and the winds were

brewing right now.

He watched her from the doorway to the garage as she made her way over to

the small room in the back where she would find her driver. His cell phone

was pulled out quickly as he dialed a very familiar number.

“Moshi moshi”

“Hide”

The person on the other line chuckled as he hung up. This was nothing new,

and he certainly wouldn’t go against his employer. He heard a knock at the

door just as he locked it. His days here were never dull, and he hoped

they stayed that way.

She knocked twice before pounding on the door. ‘Damn it, I know he’s in

there...where else would he be? He knows I have school...AAHHH...the world HATES

me today!’

He came up behind her like a wild animal ready to pounce, and she was his

prey. He quickly grabbed around her waist with his left arm, her shoulders

with his right arm, and lowered his head to her ear. She stilled at his

actions and cursed under her breath for her luck...the world really must hate

her today.

“Looking for something?” His words were deep and low causing her to

unconsciously shiver. She turned on him in an instant and found herself

pressed against his chest and trapped between his arms as she scowled up at

him.

“I need to get to school and Devon is not answering.”

“Would you like a ride?”

“You know very well what I would like!” He raised an eyebrow at her and

tilted his head a fraction as if to ask ‘really’.

“Don’t look at me like that...pervert!” He chuckled and released her body,

but took her hand all the same. His car was on the other side of the

garage, which should have been a 2-minute walk...should have.

“What are you doing?” She pulled her arm in an attempt to free herself from

his grasp. It seems he’s stronger than her...go figure.

“I’m giving you a ride to school.” He said it as if it were the most

obvious thing on earth. In all reality, it sort of was; there was few days

that she didn’t get a ride from him. She wondered why it was that on the

mornings they fought, Devon went missing. Hmm....

“Oh no you don’t...I’m mad at you remember?” She tried to stop moving, but he

simply dragged her along.

“Don’t do that Kag’s, you’re going to ruin your new sketchers.” She started

stumbling before her feet caught on to the rhythm of movement again.

“Damn it all fluffy, give it back!” He stopped and turned on her, which

caused her to run into him. He caught her at the waist just before she

fell and smirked.

“Clumsy today?” He teased. She hit him on the arm as he stood her up and

grabbed her hand to try to lead her to his car...again.

“You just had to stop, didn’t you?”

“Don’t call me that and I won’t startle you”

“Don’t tell me what to do”

“I am your senior by three years, I’ll do what I please”

“Ooh, so much older...fluffy” She was trying to piss him off enough to get

back her possessions from him...but she was only succeeding in amusing him.

They had finally made it to his car by that statement, and so he did all he

could think of. In one swift movement he had her pinned between him and

the beautiful 2004 Rolls Royce. Her back was pushed against the car door

as his body pressed against hers. He leaned down and pushed a lock of her

hair behind her shoulder before speaking in a deep, bass like whisper.

“I will do as I please, and that includes keeping my new treasure. You

can’t have it.” He smiled at her shiver before moving around the car and

setting in his seat. She stood there a moment trying to collect herself,

but she realized it might take her all day; she got in the car and waited

quietly for him to take her to school.

Of course, her silence never did last very long.

She turned over her bracelet and studied the small silver charms that

adorned it. There was one that looked like a cat to signify her fighting

style, one that looked like a sword to signify Inuyasha’s connection to

her, one in the form of a crown that signified her connection to Inutaisho,

and then there was a link for one that SHOULD have been there...but it

wasn’t. She turned her head fiercely to look at the culprit.

“I want it back...now” Her request was met with a laugh and a shrug.

“How’s it feel to want?” He spared her a quick glance before returning his

attention to the road.

“You bastard! How could you take that from me? You went into my room to get

that. That is a violation in itself!!!”

“You let me in anytime I want. I do not see the difference in this

morning!”

“Aahh.... I was in a towel!!!!”

“And?”

“Fluffy!”

“You still insist on calling me that.”

“You still insist on keeping my personal possessions from me!”

“I gave it to you, I can take it away”

“That’s not the point”

“Oh but it is...I wanted it back, so I took it. I do not see the

problem”

“You are about the worst person I have ever received anything from.

You don’t give something to someone only to take it away a week later!

Besides, now my charm bracelet looks incomplete!” It didn’t dawn on her

that he said he wanted it back...what on earth would he want it for? Just to

toy with her? Hmm....

“You have money, go buy a new one”

“You know that’s not the point. How can you be so mean?”

“Come on Kag’s, you know I’m not mean”

“Just stubborn” He chuckled a bit at that one. ‘Only stubborn with

you and you know it!’

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you had a problem with that”

Her eyes were wide and her lips clamped together into a tight thin line. He

knew he was beginning to irritate her.

“Why you...you...aahh!” She threw up her arms in exasperation when he

laughed.

“Oh you think this is funny? I want it back...or I’m not talking to

you ever again.”

He stopped laughing at that; he knew she would ignore him. Once

Kagome set her mind to something there was no changing it; she was

persistent, even with him...probably more with him than anyone. That would

not be good; her silence would drive him mad. He only had one choice, and

that didn’t bode too well with him; she had cornered him and she knew it.

‘No matter, I’ll just get her back later!’

The car came to a stop in front of a large private school covered in

trees and gardens. Somewhere in the mix of all the commotion was the small

ragtag group Kagome called friends. They would no doubt be coming over

tonight since it was a Friday. Her sigh brought him out of his musings as

he watched her get out of the car and slam the door. He reached down and

pressed the button that would erase the small pane of glass that separated

his voice from her hearing.

“KAG’S” She turned around and saw him staring at her with amusement

dancing in his eyes. Right then she felt like shrinking away; anytime he

smiled at her in public it meant one thing...war. Her thoughts were

confirmed when a small silver object came flying at her. She caught the

charm with ease and mentally smirked.

“Thanks Fluffy!” Before he could retort she walked off to meet up

with her friends and begin her day at school.

‘That’s how you want it, then that’s how you’ll get it. You called

it...it’s war!’ Kagome thought as she fiddled with the small puppy dog charm

that was now back in place on her charm bracelet. She mentally smiled at

her thoughts before proceeding into her classes.

The day was fairly smooth and uneventful for Kagome; her best friend

Sango had agreed to meet with her after school to plan for the upcoming

‘war’ with Sesshoumaru. Sango also offered her boyfriends services since

he could pose as Inuyasha’s guest; the two were best friends in a band

after all. Kagome wanted to laugh at the thought of Sango and Miroku

staying in the same building overnight...he couldn’t keep his hands off her,

and she was slowly getting into the same position as him. ‘I guess you

turn into a lech if you hang around one long enough...poor Sango!’

As if on cue, Sango sat down in front of her and pulled out a small brown

paper bag with Kami-knows-what hidden inside. Kagome smirked when the

contents came spilling out on the grass in front of her.

“This is going to be so much fun Kag-chan” Kagome nodded in approval of her

friends choice of ‘weapons’. There was ample supply of hot-heads wash out

hair colors, shaving cream ‘don’t ask Kag’s, you probably don’t want to

know anyway!’, some small jumping toys (you know, the ones you wind up and

they jump across the table really quick...really annoying little buggers), a

few permanent markers, and a small collection of rubber bands and paper

clips. There was so much they could do with this stuff...

‘Wait a minute...I’m supposed to meet Fluffy at the office today. Damn it.

Ooh, wait a minute, some of this stuff could be useful there too...hehehe’

Sango stopped at her friend’s expression. Kagome didn’t show much emotion,

so when there was something playing across her face, that meant it was felt

very strongly by said girl. Right now Kagome looked down right evil with a

glint in her eyes that made Sango bless the Kami for not being on the

receiving end of her invectives.

“Sango?”

“Yeah?” She was slow and careful with her words so as not to get on the

girls bad side.

“Do you mind if I take some of these with me right now? I have to go meet

Fluffy-sama at the office.” Sango smiled as the glint in Kagome’s eyes

seemed to ignite at the very thought of what she could do with some of this

stuff. She nodded hastily before adding.

“I’ll just see you at the house since I’m gonna go over there with Miroku

later on tonight, ok?” Kagome nodded and grabbed some ‘weapons’ before

heading off down the street towards town with a final nod to Sango.

‘Warning Fluffy, your enemy is approaching battlegrounds. Hehehe...this is

gonna be so much fun!’

Ok everyone, that’s it for chapter one. What did you think? I know I

know...it’s short. Gomen, demo I really wanted to get this out to see what

you all thought. Besides, I think I left it at a good place for ya!
