Wow, I loved how you wrote about Hasu! Sure, it really showed this scary evil side, but I love this kind of tension! And I think that making it hard for Sesshomaru and Kagome to get together is a really good idea for this fic! It'll make it so dramatic yet romantic. It's gonna be amazing!

I appreciated the full attention you gave to Kagome's warring feelings combined with the subtle hints of Sesshoumaru's forward affections and Hasu's potentially dangerous jealousy. It is good to know that Shippo and Sango and Miroku are still alive. If the jewel is incomplete then eventually Kagome must interact with Sesshoumaru. I do not see any reason why she should avoid him. As an apprentice geisha she does not have a choice in the matter anyway, does she?

"Memoirs of a Geisha" "Inuyasha" style. Interesting. I am so surprised Sesshoumaru has not recognized Kagome. I understand her demeanor is completely different, but her scent should be the same as well as her aura. I can't remember, does she still have her miko powers? Those two chapter were wonderfully written when it came the the description of the surrounding environment & atmosphere between the two characters' interacrtions. I especially enjoyed the insight to the characters' musing and past history.

The story is enjoyable to read and Sesshoumaru and Kagome seem to have connected intellectually and philosophically. However, I find it really hard to believe Kagome could learn to become even an apprentice geisha in one year. In Manga and Anime she couldn't walk past a tree root or a rock without tripping . The established fact is that Kagome is clumsy. Perhaps she could be trained to become graceful if she had nothing else and no one in her life. Other than that, I am interested in reading more. The dialog is compelling and insightful.

This is a most enjoyable and sweet story. You are doing well in character and plot development. I love the way you chose to have them build up their feelings slowly. Those stories are my favorite. I also can't wait to see what you have in store for the conflict(s). A little conflict always makes the outcome all that much sweeter once it is overcome.
As for your writing itself, I still enjoy the flow, and there aren't many glaringly obvious errors that I can recall... Except for a misspelling in chapter 6 where it reads "As must as she hated to..." and I believe you meant to have "much". If there were others, they didn't trip me up enough to have my attention drawn to them.

Hi :) It's me again. After I had a night of sleep I decided to write something more than 'it's brilliant'.
At the beginning I wanted to say again that I like your story however I have noticed some small mistakes.
1 - Kagome would have never ever been taken to okiya because she is too old. Even in modern world of 21 century it is said that starting to learn 'geisha way' at an age of 15 is too late (you can't do that earlier because it is illegal). A daughter of geisha started her lessons at the age of 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days or something near (3 years, 3 weeks, 3 days?). And Fuji is rather not qualified for that unless Sesshoumaru fall in love with her and pay all that money.
5 - Furthermore Maiko as a property of Okiya couldn't make any decisions regarding her time, so she couldn't offer her time to Sesshoumaru unless her older sister or Okasan agreed. And definitely she can't offer anything for free! as it is her job (and therefore she has to earn money for okiya).

Nevertheless the major and minor mistakes I like your style which is very calm and graceful and very suitable for this kind of a story. If you have a need to be more cultural appropriate do some research on basic geisha world rules. However I am not expecting that you will be very good in regard to geisha world rules (as non-Japanese person can't really learn that...).
I am also curious at what year/time Kagome is... The only good point she has got is that she knows 'western ways' and she could be a geisha for western people if it is a time when Japan is already open for western world and there are some very important western people who have the privilege to be introduced to geisha world...

Hi :) It's me again. After I had a night of sleep I decided to write something more than 'it's brilliant'.
At the beginning I wanted to say again that I like your story however I have noticed some small mistakes.

First, I want to point out that no fic, I repeat, not one single fic I've read has ever utilized original characters in translating a Japanese sign. You lent a sweet authenticity to the setting with that single touch, and built upon that foundation with imagery that put me on the path beside "Fugi" and Sesshoumaru, enthralled with the beauty I swear I could see, smell and hear myself. You coupled the richness of the scene with equally tender and intelligent dialogue. The polite ingenuity both characters have is just as charming to me as it is to each of them. Kagome thought this was just a chance for Sesshoumaru to get to know the real her through the guise of Fuji, but perhaps, with his own mask lifted, she's surprised herself to find the man underneath. This is a beautifully written story! I'm always eager to read more, but don't wear yourself out. Take your time to savor the inspiration just like your characters do. ^_^

What is going to happen here? I really want to know. I hope that you get the incentives to update soon. I really like where this is going.

I have never read a fic that explored the possibilities of combining InuYasha with the mysterious world of the geisha in such an amazing way, and now I am hopelessly addicted to it! I can't help but feel anxious when I wonder what will happen when Sesshoumaru figures out that Fuji is Kagome. I wonder what he will think and do. It'sa great original storyline. I rated each chapter individually and gave it all 10's. I truly feel this fic and all the work you do yourself to write and proofread your own work deserves the highest marks. I honestly haven't seen any mistakes anyway. I am impressed that you are writing on the true nature of being a geisha. I have tried many times to tell others that these women were not prostitutes as many like to say. Of course in every profession as this I am sure that there were some who would give sexual favors but that was not the intention of these women who took their profession proudly. Firstly, I am enjoying your story and gladly wait for the nest installment.
There is a confusion on my part, however, that prevents me from fully appreciating the unique setting/circumstances of the story. It is my understanding that Geisha are brought to an okiya at a very early age (3-5 years old or so) where they are trained for years and years in the art of music (vocal and instrumental), dancing, tea ceremonies, flirting and so on. It is also my understanding that Geisha (and their younger counter-parts) do not live in a tea house but at an okiya. The okiya sends their apprentices to a school for Geisha where the Geisha shall go to up until she retires/dies. The Mother of the okiya is responsible for the financial well-being of her Geisha and the okiya (not necessarily in that order) and will therefore send her Geisha to certain tea houses and can command what patrons they may or may not serve. It is also my understanding that a Maiko is assigned to a Geisha whom she will follow and learn from until her mizuage.
Obviously, your story does not follow these rules and I am curious as to whether I am misinformed about this information, if you are disregarding it to further your plot, or if you just haven’t gotten to that point of explication in your story yet? The main point that confuses me is Kagome’s age and, therefore, how she came to/was able to work in the tea house as a Maiko. It would make more sense if she was put in a servile post of some sort (like a scullery maid, seamstress, or nurse).

I just finished chapter 2, and when I ended the chapter I was like: no, that can't be the end; there has to be more~! This is an addicting fic. I could very easily picture the characters in their roles. I can see Sesshoumaru with his little half smirk degrading the bear while Kagome recovers from her ordeal behind him. I have a favor to ask: After reading the second chapter, I have a better idea of what a maiko and what a geisha is, but if you could give website or a chain of command type chart, I would much appreciate it. I know nothing of this subject matter, and you've really sparked an interest for me. As it is, I'm already going to visit wiki.

If I could make a suggestion? I love this story bunches, and I think you would get a bigger pool of fans if you slightly changed your summary. From the summary I was expecting to read of Kagome's capture and new introduction to the Gion lifestyle, not her life a year down the road.

Damn! And here I thought the first chapter was amazing! Such an interesting twist that Sesshoumaru is already a geisha's patron. That Hasu...she already seems very much like Hatsumomo from "Memoirs of a Geisha". Are you gleaning inspiration from that book? If not, check it out. The subtlety of Kagome's conversation reminds me a lot of the main character Sayuri's acclaimed charm.

Sesshoumaru's handling of Kumano was brilliant, almost no different from how he handles a sword. He exudes so much grace even when fighting that his opponent almost doesn't realize they're struck until they're bleeding all over the place. And his charm is believable, too, being so smooth and subtle itself. It's like the opposite side of the coin of his character: he's still quiet and mysterious, but equally cunning and playful.

I'm *really* getting into this story. I *adore* the angle you've taken that Kagome can get to know him without him having any preconceived notions of her personality or worth based on her association with Inuyasha. That's a great twist. I'm really looking forward to more of this!

This is one of the best plots I've heard of in quite some time. I find that researching for a story is sometimes the best part. I look forward to reading more of this, as I am very interested in Geishas. I LOVED the movie, Memoirs of a Geisha. It was so beautiful, yet dark at the same time. I noticed how all the women are named after flowers, which reminds me of the movie House of Flying Daggers. Also a good flick. Keep up the awesome work, and update soon!
