I'm betting the secret weapon of the Ningen is guns or gunpowder. I believe that both were introduced to Japan in the 1500s, if I'm remembering my Japanese history correctly. This is, as always, an enchanting tale you've created and I love every new chapter. Your characters have depth and realistic behavior. They are so well done. Okay, so I had held off from reviewing out of sheer greediness - I simply couldn't stop reading! Being at work right now doesn't make it any easier to pull away from a work of fiction so delightfully composed. You have a wonderful knack for meshing together what might be considered "out of character" scenarios with such incredible plausibility and humor that there isn't room left for complaint! Fabulously written: I will surely continue reading until the very end, as this has become my newest favorite among SessKag fiction. I realize that it is a tad silly and humorous I be so moved by "lemon" labled chapters, but I won't deny that you've concoted one of the few intimate scenes that I can read without once scorning the implausibility of both characters - now partners - conducting themselves in such a way. You've written a story outside of the original storyline, and yet the characteristics and plot are conveyed both with an enlightening thoroughness and refreshing style with an emphasis on the delicate realities of life - and death. Kudos to you and your talents!

The "chronic disrespect" statement is priceless. I was in my statistics class when I read that, taken completely off guard by that comment, laughed loudly and completely embarrassed myself. Blessed respite, this fic is for me. (Figured if you're bringing up Han Solo, I can slip in some Yoda.)

It's an entire, complete world away from the things I *should* be doing (cough)work(cough), but I simply can't stay away when presented with another threshold to cross in this intricate adventure. There are so many nuances to discover in each word you write, both in the evolving characterizations and the deft plotting. Your storytelling is just so *complete* I'm left wanting nothing but another day of this life you've made, its passion, its heartbreak, its many layers of love. It it epic and personal, a wholly visible universe and the invisible currents that compose it. At the risk of sounding lame, it's magical. I love how you've shaped the familiar characters and the care you've taken to invent new ones. Randomly, the idea that Kintaro was Kouga's older brother really made an impression on me, I don't know why. I absolutely loved it.

All in all, I am swept away in this story, stranded in the middle of everywhere with little need of rescue.

Oh that's just great! Leave them off at the point where they're all hot and bothered and ready to do the nasty and run to Mexico! How selfish of you!! Keh! *stomping around the computer*

This has been a great read; a wonderful love story. I liked that Sesshoumaru had started falling in love with her so early on. The escapades in Nantai were fun to read. Having the beads put back on Kagome's neck was dreadful. I hope there is a way to permanently get rid of them. Oooh, I can't wait to see what people think about the hickey that Sesshoumaru has. I really love the story so far. I noticed though that in this chapter, Sesshoumaru's sister is Sumiko. In the chapter speaking of Kagome and her sister, isn't her name Sumiko also. She was the one who was married and 4 months pregnant. I wasn't sure if that was on purpose or not.

Awwww...it's too early in the morning to be tearing up like this. That letter was so sad when you realized that they were dead. That scene with the pup was absolutely inspired. I loved that and Sess got to help. Aw, I can't wait until he becomes a father.

This was really interesting...and I love how you retold the tale. Only thing is, I believe you got a couple of things wrong. One being, that what women really want is to make their own decisions, not to have control over their husbands.;) Two...from what I remember of the tale, the old woman offers to be a beautiful maid in the night just for him and a hag in the morning, or a beauty in the morning for him to show off to all and sundry and a hag in the night. When he leaves it up to her to choose, she of course chooses to remain beautiful all the day through....^_^

Anyhoo, I burst out laughing when Sess wanted to throw her down the ravine. As whiney as Kagome can be, I'm surprised he hasn't done it sooner but I love that he wouldn't let her fall. That was soooo horribly romantic.

The scene in the banquet hall? Geeze I can almost smell the rustic! That was pretty good...Kagome drinking like one of the fellas and getting drunk on swill...too bad it was "that time" or they would have had some wild sex after that!

I like the inclusion of the Wife's Tale. It is one of my favorites, along with the Miller's Tale. However, the version I read had a knight being put to death for raping a maiden, not a penniless nobleman who couldn't pay his dues. So either there are multiple versions, or you changed it...?

Anyways, I love this story. You have beautiful characterization and your style flows very nicely. I look forward to the next chapter!

I am so happy that I decided to read your story. It is so well done! Well written, using synonyms perfectly crafted for military reference and battle strategy. The Miko Sisterhood is also a brilliant creation, giving Kagome a reality base for her skills. You set up her expertise perfectly through her past trials and Kaede's words. All of your fight scenes are extremely well-played - I especially enjoyed Kagome's battle against Naraku and his minions! Using the helmet to knock his teeth out was magnificent! You have also moved the relationships of the characters at a unhurried pace that gives them credibility. I really like Gina and even Sesshomaru's mother, though I find that I usually don't take to her in most fics. You are very good with original characters. The romance between Kagome and Sesshomaru is steamy and continuously building, leaving me looking forward to your next update. Thanks for the wonderful hours of reading you have given us.

I really really REALLY love your portrayal of Sesshomaru. Most people, well females anyway, love the cold, cruel, stiff and indifferent characterizations of him but if you wanna be honest, if I had to come home to a man that was like that all the time, I'd be cheating on him. A girl needs love and warmth from her man and Sesshomaru in this story is so gentle and tender towards Kagome's feelings and needs. It's how a man should be.

I'm so glad I found this story. You bring the romance and fire to Sess...I also love how Kagome is dealing with all that has happened. The times were brutal and she's adjusting to it. Poor thing, to be in the midst of those who have warred with her family must be difficult but she's coping now and that's great.

I think this is a brilliant story and this chapter was *sigh* so sweet and romantic. Having him remove the beads was a brilliant touch. I am so glad I started reading this story.

This chapter was incredibly telling; so full of a powerful current of emotions. It truly left me breathless. Kagome's reaction to Inutaisho's news was indeed unexpected, but made sense later. And the quandary that the conversation between her and sesshoumaru has left the latter in is interesting. It was something I did wonder at before...if most of what he did was by instinct, did he really love her? I'm intrigued about the way you intend handling this and he intends convincing her that she is more to him than instinct dictates. ^^

When I saw this in the Dokuga awards, I have to admit that I neglected reading it because of the title. I wasn't really intrigued by the idea of a "Peace Treaty" because I'd seen the idea used before. However, I was looking for something to read this morning, and I stumbled across your link again.

I have to say that I am truly amazed.

This story is so wonderful and so complete. Your characterizations are amazing, and while the plotline is very serious, there are a few moments of character relief. The humor also isn't overly done. You don't let it affect the story... it simply *is* a part of the story.

I can't wait to see who killed her father, and I'm wondering if that's what InuTaisho wanted to talk to her about in the first place.

I love the characters you've created in both of Sesshoumaru's parents. Honestly, his mother reminds me *very much* of my own. The character Gina is also quite creative. I like how you've incorporated her bisexual nature, and I'm interested to see how that affects her destined arranged mating.

Anyway, enough with the ballad. Great job, and I can't wait to see what you manage next.

OMG... NOT Sesshoumaru??? Wait... H-E-Y... you did that evil-author-person-thing that I hate... making me guess wildly at what's gonna happen next!! I almost always guess wrong, then the evil-author-person gets to snicker at my simplicity... grrr.

Just kidding - I loved the byplay between Kags and the General. The citrus at the beginning of the chapter wasn't bad either! *wink, wink!!* And I'm going to TRY to keep a lid on my wild speculation as to just who in the youkai household did that foul deed on Kags daddy. This chapter was so full of half-given information, and mini cliff-hangers, but so beautifully done. Even your writing style hit me afresh, and the amount of research put into it (or were you already blessed with such knowledge^_^) is commendable. The sparring/duel scene was lovely, detailed and vivid.

I was going to ask if there would be any intrigue with the Ningen soon. It would indeed be interesting to see the Ningen Council's reaction to Kagome's changed feelings toward her Youkai family. But am now wondering how rocky things really are going to be between our hero and heroin. I hope it isn't anything too drastic!

Anyway...am really looking forward to the next installment. But you already know that.:)

Just wanted to throw out a quick word about Kagome's character, into which I've put tons of thought. She has a raging case of survivor guilt (hence the titles of chs 14 and 15), with which Sesshoumaru is helping her deal. As far as the rape, it happened 9 years earlier, and while she has defintiely become much stronger and moved beyond it, the experience has certainly influenced her. Hence her unwillingness to be victimized when they first arrived at the manor, the knife under the pillow, but especially her need to trust him and how she feels when she realizes she is safe with him. It is at that point that she begins to recognize desire. And yes, rape survivors can feel desire. Which is what she is, a rape survivor, not a virgin.

As far as what happens next...I may do cliffhangers, but I don't do spoilers. Mmwwahahaha.

I hate to be cliche, but I really do hope you will be able to update soon so I can quit wondering (of course, EVERYONE says that). Honestly, there are very few stories that I would even MENTION the desire to see frequent updates, but this is one of them.

I love this story so far! I like that Kagome is not a weak woman and that she can protect herself even with her powers sealed. However, there are a couple of things bothering me. She went to two very traumatic episodes in her life at a very tender age and although she blames herself and seaks a way of gaining pain when she feels she is beggining to enjoy her life with her former enemies she seems to be overcoming her rape rather easily, if I recall correctly virginity is highly conisdered in the society she was raised, she was even cosidered not marriagable. She is also accepting the physical contact with another male (whom she just met and used to be a former enemy) quite easily, wouldn't the emotion he stirs in her be foreing to her? Wouldn't she react as a virgin? She may be no virgin but, wouldn't she still be in her mind? She has never felt pleasure, just pain. Unless there are some things you didn't tell. Which leads me to my next point. Could you treat us with more tender moments between them in wich they discover eachother? So far we know that Sesshomaru likes her and is attracted to her thanks to Gina, I would just love to see these two grow in each other's eyes. So I'm begging you please!!! More fluff and lots of lemons!!!! By the way... I just hate Naraku!!!

How in the name of all that is holy did I miss reading this sprawling epic? All these chapters have passed me by, and I let them go without a glance, but no longer! Like a flip of a switch, I clicked and the light came on. A light so bright I figured a chorus of angels was calling from the computer screen. Wow. That's a stupid sentence, but seriously, do you know what I mean when I type "AHHHH!!!" as in, the Angels are singing? I hope so, because that's how your fic made me feel.

The cadence and style of your writing ameliorates its epic feel (and yes, I stole the use of ameliorate from your fic), making every word come alive with sweeping vigor. There's a soundtrack playing in my mind as I read, strong, melancholy, powerful and winsome. And the characters... the way you've re-envisioned them is nothing short of genius. Sesshoumaru still retains his aloof grace, but you've parried it with the quiet compassion we've learned to accept with Rin. Kagome's temper is still healthy as ever, but you've given it depth, an excruciatingly painful depth that makes her spirit leap off the screen. Yes, she physically tortures herself to endure her suffering, but there's a solid strength behind her actions, a hope to overcome, and it is heartbreakingly beautiful.

The intrigue and politics are something else entirely. I'm in awe of the thought and detail you've put into the plot, with new characters and versions of well-known characters that carry the story to new heights, not to mention some despicable lows with what they choose to do. I am absolutely besotted with this story. Hell, I'll throw myself into a treaty with it if that means I'm stuck with it forever. I. Am. In. Love. With. This. Story.

What I love about this last chapter is that yes you wrote out the suffering that Kagome went through but the way you did it was brilliant. So many writers take a torture and rape scene and feel the need to describe in a way that further degrade the victim because for some reason they think it's either sexy or they need to paint a real broad picture. I've only seen this done so beautifully in one other story and that was by Rinseternalsoul on MM.org. I braced for what I thought was going to be horrible and instead I was touched and moved by it. Honestly, it brought tears to my eyes when Sesshomaru had to whip her because you can almost feel the pain in his actions, and then again when Kagome described what happened to her and how she felt the need to be punished for surviving it.

Whew. I'm gonna tear up again...thank you. I'm so glad to have this story to read.

I noticed, with the listing of the youkai ruling parties, you used "Doragon" for dragon. The Japanese word for dragon (if you'd prefer to use it, having used it else where) is "ryou." We just learned it the other day in my Japanese class. Which is where I should be going right now.

I must say I had my doubts at first but this is turning out to be extremely well thought out. I had tired at one time to do a story along the same plot line but wasn't able to get it to turn out right. I'm so glad I started reading it. This last chapter had me laughing so hard I had to stop reading it and get a drink I thought I was about to die of laughter. I can't wait for the next chapter to come out!!!!

I like this story, especially the conflict Sesshoumaru is having with Kagome not actually needing him for every little thing. But i have to ask. The beads on her neck inhibit her powers, will this have an affect on her? She's used to sending them out of her body and won't they just build up within her now? That could cause trouble.
