I totally loved this fic. But yes it left so many unanswered questions!!!! You absolutely should do a sequel. Who cares if it takes you six mounths or a year! It would totally be worth the wait, No but seriously, sooner would be better ;)

I am SO intensely grateful to whatever fates there are that I read this story when I did... when the sequel had not only been started but *completed* - although I definitely would have waited had I needed to - it's just that damn good.

Yes yes yes to the sequel... you must immediately devote yourself to writing fanfiction and only that -- real life you say? But how could that compare with your waiting fans, wriggling and in extremis over a lack of more... :) Please do write the sequel (ideally in less than six months or we shall have to tie you to chair and spoon feed you until it's done.

I have to admit I read the sequel first and enoyed it so much I had to go on the hunt for this one...and am I glad I did, The line that Sess delivers offering his help rocked me to the bottomof my feet. I immediately gave a schoolgirl squeal and jumped up. The feeling was intense. Perfect timing.

I really enjoy this story. Also, the random German, because my minor was German, and these days all I read is Japanese, so...yeah. Go German.

I'm actually re-reading (well, skimming past some exposition that I already know to get to the good stuff), and there is one part that kind of made me twitch.

You referred to the pope as the wisest and, if I remember, most powerful/holy/whatever. But...the pope around this time period is probably the guy who sanctioned the inquisition, and most certainly the guy who Charlemagne thumbed his nose at. I'm not thinking he's the wisest guy. Now, if you said that a bunch of monks had done it, or a wise man who was not a known historical figure. In fact, praising the pope so much actually made me twitchy enough to google it. Most likely, this "wisest" person was Pope Alexander VI, known for having many illegitimate children by his mistress, whom he lavished riches upon. He was Pope from 1492 to 1503. According to Wikipedia, "In spite of the splendours of the Pontifical court, the condition of Rome became every day more deplorable. The city swarmed with Spanish adventurers, assassins, prostitutes and informers; murder and robbery were committed with impunity, and the Pope himself cast aside all show of decorum, living a purely secular life; indulging in the chase, and arranging dancing, stage plays and orgies (culminating in the debaucherous Banquet of Chestnuts of 1501) within the Vatican itself." He was one of the most corrupt Popes in a long history of corrupt Popes.

The other possibility, Pope Julius II Pope from 1503 to 1513, was known for warfare is widely believed to have had sex with many young men, although he also had a child with a mistress.

Sorry to go all graduate student on you over such a small detail but it really irked me. The papacy, like any position of immense power and influence and wealth, is a breeding ground for corruption and selfishness. Certainly, there can be good men who are also religious and who want to help people, but the Pope is an unlikely one for that role. There is so much politicking back-room dealing involved that the good candidates are (or at least, they certainly WERE) almost always weeded out.

Again, sorry for over-intellectualizing on a throwaway paragraph.

Of course I would want you to write "Divine Concubine". I WOULD BE CRAZY NOY TO! So please please please write the sequel and many more to follow. Otherwise it is just left at a stand still, and just thinking of that is uncomfortably upsetting.
