Chapter 1: The Posting

Kagome sighed, looking sadly at her nearly empty wallet.  It wasn’t likely to get filled in any capacity any time soon, too.

Being fired had the tendency to do that.  Never mind that Kagome had never even thought of stealing from the register.  No, that had been her lying ex-co-worker, who had a crush on the boss and didn’t like that the boss was looking at Kagome in a semi-interested way.  But with such a serious accusation, and nothing to prove her innocent except the lack of evidence…  Kagome was out of a job, and therefore out of money.

Well, Kagome thought, opening up her laptop and connecting to the internet, at least you don’t have to worry about food and shelter.  It could be much worse, she told herself.  Still, the thought of having to rely on your mother for everything, at age 23, galled her.

So, that in mind, Kagome connected to Craigslist, just to see what was available right away.  It wasn’t a truly awful site, as long as you stayed away from some of the personal ads and showed some measure of caution in dealing with others.  And sometimes there were real gems buried between the muck of Craigslist.

Around twenty minutes later of clicking on posts in the job section, most of which were clearly scams, and others that asked for things she couldn’t do, or she didn’t feel qualified for, she came across one with a title that simply said “Priestess needed, inquire within.”

A/N: This will be the first and last time I say this.  If you are going to go on Craigslist, be careful!  My advice: Avoid the personals and never meet with someone who you don't know all by yourself.  Also, don't go handing money over for a job, because that's a scam.  If you're buying something, make sure you're getting what you're paying for.  That said, there are some legitimate ads/people on there.  I found my car off there, as well as an awesome job opportunity.

These will be 250-word drabbles, updated whenever I feel like it, and probably influenced by the chat.  If you enjoy this or any other chapters, please feel free to review, or drop me a line in chat or something to let me know!

Happy reading!
