Great questions! First question, yes, it's implied that the Houjou family, for whatever reason, seems to always fall in love with Kagome. (sort of inspired by an anime-only storyline in the actual series)
As for question #2, nope! This is 100% AU, with elements of the original series being used in an entirely different manner. ;3 Thank you very much for reading and reviewing!
